  1. There weren’t really that many options on cable besides USA, TBS and ESPN, channels like Tempo, FNN/Score and later Sports Channel America weren’t on that many cable systems and channels like TNN didn’t want wrestling, plus I can see USA totally bailing on wrestling after the blood stuff on Southwest. Also, it would have been really hard for the territories to survive into the 90’s on local tv. The influx of syndicated programming and infomercials that became widespread during the decade would have pushed local wrestling shows to odd times or low powered stations, which would have killed the house show business.
  2. Fuck the Ravens, that was cheap.
  3. Had some bonus bet money in my Caesars account, tossed in a few more bucks and parlayed both road teams on the money line.
  4. Wow, that’s still on the WWE page.
  5. Some airport news stands still carry Penthouse, did a double take last year when I saw one on the shelf.
  6. I’m thinking it’s Dr. Drew.
  7. Has the NCAA ever brought the hammer down on an influential state school like Michigan? In the long run Penn State wasn't really punished for covering up children being raped in their football locker room, did they do anything to UNC for 18 years of academic fraud? USC and Miami got hammered for agent/booster stuff, but both are private schools.
  8. With the exception of the Rubik's Cube on the desk, Garvin, Sunshine and the wood paneling in that office all have a 1979 look. Also, Garvin looks like a promoter for a shady record label who gives program directors coke.
  9. What's vMVPD? Is that something like YouTubeTV?
  10. I never knew this! I've had the Milli Vanilli doc on my watchlist for awhile, guess I should have watched it instead of investing so much time in The Curse.
  11. His filmography has a bunch of “he directed that” flicks like Rollerball, F.I.S.T. and Other People’s Money. If you’ve never seen The Cincinnati Kid or A Solider’s Story go watch them, they’re his best in my book.
  12. If I was a Bucs fan I'd be annoyed with that, the Lions played it smart though. I live in the Detroit area but didn't grow up here so I never cared what the local teams did, I'm now on the fence with the Lions, while it'll be nice for some people I know there are others who will be insufferable if they win, but as a Steeler fan I don't want the 49ers to get a 6th Lombardi trophy and join the Steelers in the 6 with no asterisk club. On the AFC side I of course want Baltimore to get their doors blown off, KC in the Super Bowl with subplot of Taylor Swift getting from her Tokyo Dome concert to Las Vegas in time for the game will be hysterical and make a certain segment of the populations heads explode, so I'm all for it.
  13. Bruno changed his stance on Flair, he used to praise him in the 80’s and 90’s then Flair said something about Bruno not being a draw or some nonsense in the 2000’s, that shifted Bruno to the Bret Hart “Flair worked the same match” take. In his prime Bruno was able to adapt to his opponents, that was one of the reasons for his longevity, but his second run was usually vs. a monster type Hansen/Brody or strongman like Graham/Patera.
  14. Sorry the “math” and Collinsworth are dumb in that situation, kick the PAT then go for 2 if you score again.
  15. Tampa deserves to loose after that soft ass zone on 3rd and long.
  16. Announcers in that age group usually reference whatever the local wrestling was called when they were growing up, Bill Cowher has tossed out “Studio Wrestling” from time to time.
  17. Flair worked MSG in 1976 before he was NWA champion, the standard upcoming star from another territory working a preliminary match to get in the magazines, that was it until 1991. Backlund talks about the Omni match with Flair in his book, if I remember right he felt Flair and Jim Crockett Jr were acting kind of shady before the match, a so maybe that killed any chance of a MSG match like Backlund had with Harley.
  18. Not really, the NWA champion was never mentioned on WWF tv expect when Harley showed up for the MSG match against Backlund. On WWF tv they would call Backlund either the WWF champion or World Champion, it was never really consistent, at house shows in Pittsburgh he’d always be billed as “World Cham-peen”.
  19. Halsted is really long, starts way down in Indiana and ends a little north of Wrigley Field, covers both the South Side and North Side.
  20. I'd always figured Gary Hart would have been a White Sox fan, he has more of a South Side vibe.
  21. As he should be, Pickett was playing better after Canada was fired and before the injury. Art Rooney II really needs to open the checkbook up(which is hard for him to do) and hire a legit O coordinator and QB coach.
  22. Love the “New McDLT” billboard in the background!
  23. I always thought a “Russian” defector angle would have gotten over in the 80’s, sadly Vince, Dusty and Watts never saw Moscow on the Hudson.
  24. How was there no flag on that? Dude just forearmed Porter in the neck.
