  1. Not much. He stood in the center of the ring glaring at Russo and the New Blood (who were gathered on the ramp in front of the Jumbotron). Enough blood splashed onto Nash’s clothes so that the effect wasn’t totally lost. Though I assume the plan was to have him drenched in blood horror movie-style.
  2. No, not planned. The gif is from the New Blood-Millionaires Club feud. New Blood beating up someone in the ring, Nash comes out with a baseball bat to chase them off, ends up standing alone in the ring while Russo comes out and cuts a promo on Kevin. Promo ends with "blood" falling from the ceiling (New Blood? Get it?). But, WCW being WCW, Nash was standing in the a bit off center and the blood shower missed him and just splattered him.
  3. Going to be interesting to see how Roman-Randall is booked.
  4. Main was alright. Nothing special given who was involved. Misawa and Yosh. Ogawa were supposed to be in the main but pulled out. Would have been more interested in that. The Jannetty-Hall match was bad. 3 or four min long, Hall was blown up well before the end. Jannetty looked ok, Hall did not but he was rumored to be drunk. There's a weird spot with a fan where Hall tells him to f*** off or something along those lines then murders Marty with a clothesline after Marty went over and raised the fan's hand. Marty does a flip bump and looked hurt. Not sure that was a planned spot. Show has a good Jay Lethal/Ryan Drago match that was probably motn. I really wish I had never seen the Chris Hamrick-New Jack match. Garbage wrestling at its... whatever. Some gross spots (New Jack jammed a staple gun into Hamrick's crotch) and unprotected chair shots. Tommy Dreamer in a suit is something.
  5. Speaking of Richard Morton, is there anyone that put less effort into making a gimmick work? I mean, Ricky refused to cut his hair, would't wear a suit for promos or to the ring, wore the same ring attire he had been wearing: those awful jean chaps or old R&R tights - neither of which fit the gimmick. I've never been sure if Ricky didn't want to turn heel and tanked the gimmick or creative was just that bad or Ricky somehow thought he was giving his all to the act. Anyone know? I say this as someone who thinks the R&R are at least a top 5 tag team of all time - maybe top 1, and also thinks Morton is one of the greatest tag team wrestlers ever. Morton was a great pure babyface. He should never have turned heel anywhere.
  6. Seems to be a lot of that sentiment online.
  7. Wouldn't be surprised. Meltzer's been saying the Nia-Lana stuff is part of a massive babyface push for Lana. I kinda hope loses interest by Survivor Series. I'm assuming the repeated Samoan drops eventually lead to a singles match, but I'm skeptical that will get Lana over. Even if it does, should it? Lana is kinda terrible in-ring and not much of a talker either. There's probably ten women on the roster that would do more with the air time. One of the IIconics maybe? I'm not even fans of theirs, but they're better in-ring by a bit, and Billie can draw heat. For that matter, I'd prefer to see the top eight or so women in NXT get Lana's airtime.
  8. Fortunately, I haven't been to many live shows since about 2008 so most of the really bad shows I've been to were held 15-20 years ago and have kinda faded in my memory. Saw a lot of tiny indy shows when I lived in CA that were bad. Empire Wrestling Federation comes to mind. Their shows were hit and miss. They tended to use local indy guys you weren't familiar with with a sprinkling of guys from APW and Epic. At one point, they were sharing talent with other indies in the area, so you at least got wrestlers you had heard of, and they did have some good feuds and shows. They ran a Brandon Gatson-Scorpio Sky feud that is one of my favorite feuds no one saw. Mikey Nicholls/Nick Miller got his start there too, irrc. The show that comes to mind was a show in Morgantown, WV circa 2004 or 05. They advertised some ex-WWE guys but none of them showed and the guys that did wrestle seemed to be barely trained. Every match was wrestlecrap-fodder and deserved to be in the "show from hell" thread Dean had at one point long ago. The match that stands out was between two chunky barely-trained guys who both wore jobberish-looking black singlets with plain black long tights. They looked like they ware doing some sort of jobber twin gimmick circa JCP in the mid-80's. I kinda expected Tully to come down and beat them up while calling for Magnum TA to come on down. Anyway, it was a terrible match with a worse finish. I think the finish was supposed to be Wrestler A going for a moonsault, Wrestler B rolling out of the way, then Wrestler B rolling back to cover A for the pin. What we got was Wrestler A climbing the turnbuckle slowly and unsteadily. Wrestler B apparently isn't aware of where A actually is, so he rolls out of the way while A is still climbing to the top post. For some reason, B rolls too far and rolls under the bottom rope and almost falls out of the ring. B ends up clinging to the edge of the apron trying to keep himself from falling off. A finally - finally - gets to the top of the turnbuckle, looks over to see B clinging to the edge of the apron like a spider, hesitates for a second, then visibly shrugs and does the moonsault - to the center of the f*** ring. Yep, he splatted himself moonsaulting an empty ring. And the moonsault itself was bowling shoe ugly, so... B looks over, sees A prone on the canvas, and apparently realizes he's supposed to cover A, so he tries to get back in the ring. Except, he's barely hanging on to the edge of the canvas, so when he tries to roll back in the ring, he finally falls over the edge of the apron and falls to the floor (more like finally puts his legs down and steps to the floor). Then he picks himself awkwardly, crawls back in the ring, and eventually shimmies to the center to make the cover. The ref looked at them both in disbelief then made the three count. On the way out of the ring, you could hear B apologizing to A for messing up the timing and saying "I moved too early. Nothing you could do." I guess asking them to improvise would have been too much? That was the worst match of the night, but only by a small margin. Whole night was awful. Show drew less than 100 but the promoter apparently expected a thousand or so, so the crowd looked awful in the vast sea of folding chairs that were set up.
  9. This. I'm assuming there are plenty of actors, wrestlers, pro athletes, musicians, etc. who suffer from some degree of mental health issues but we never hear about it because they take whatever steps are needed to keep it from becoming an issue in the workplace. Then there's Mauro, who couldn't keep it from becoming a workplace issue on several occasions and placed both himself and the company in a bad spot because of it. I do think it can become counter-productive, but I also think it can be managed properly in a lot of cases.
  10. That was odd, since a couple people audibly broke character and called her "Mia" instead of whatever her Retribution name is. Honestly, it reminded me an awful lot of a WWE 2K20 glitch, so maybe she was channeling the spirit of whoever it was that thought Battlegrounds would sell well.
  11. North Carolina and Illinois are the two possible destinations mentioned in the article. I kinda feel like elsewhere in Fla might be a better choice though. They're looking for an arena that's not going to be tied up with other sports in a state where the governor will give them some leeway to film in the event of another stay-at-home order, and the site needs to be near a transportation hub for talent to fly in and out. Good luck with that in the current climate.
  12. Thanks. I was wondering if anyone else thought this way about Miro. I don't dislike Miro or think he's terrible, but I think he's kinda average. I kinda feel like a lot of his early popularity was due to jingoism, as said, but also to Lana's Brigitte Nielsen tribute act. The package was greater than the sum of its parts, so to speak. I think a lot of the reason he's been over since with a certain segment of fans is that he seems likable on social media, more than anything he's done in the ring. Personally, I don't think he'd be near as popular if social media didn't make him seem like a chill guy with a sense of humor. I know a lot of people feel like Vince wouldn't push him out of spite after Rusev Day unexpectedly got over, but I'm not sure I blame Vince. There was a period when Miro and Lana were making the dirtsheets fairly regularly for one backstage dustup or another. I never got the impression they were asses, but they certainly seemed to rub some people the wrong way. Weren't they complaining about wanting out of their contracts by the time Rusev Day caught on or was that later? I don't always think Vince is at fault for not pushing some people. Sometimes, it's probably for a good reason. I'm not around these people day to day, so I don't think we can make assumptions about what their work habits or attitudes are like. I do hope AEW doesn't push him as a babyface. Dude thought he was going to make a living as a professional streamer or... something. That's a total heel gimmick if I ever saw one. He'll never be a babyface again in my household. Regarding the blonde buzzcut, I don't think it's great, but it could be worse. He could be Blade/Braxton Sutter (I have the same razor cut as Blade for the same reason: went bald on top. Bleaching the side stubble just looks ridiculous).
  13. I dunno that I'd say Miz has had a better WWE career than Punk, but I think that's a valid take. Punk was more of a money machine and is arguably a better worker. Miz has had a very good 14-year-run that's seen him cycle through a variety of roles and spots on the card. Most of that time has been spent in the upper midcard and he had a decent stint as a main eventer. And he represents the company well at public appearances and charity gigs. I dunno, to me, he maybe has a more complete well-rounded skill set than Punk. I think he'd be liked a lot more by message board fans if he had "indy cred." IMO, Miz has probably had the better career than Punk due to longevity (and lack of injuries). Punk's best matches are probably better than Miz's best work and Punk was a money machine for the company. That said, I'm skeptical we'd love Punk as much as we do if he'd stuck around and did a Jericho/Undertaker-like sink into the latter years of his career. Jericho's later career wasn't looked on all that fondly between, say, the feud with HBK and the List and AEW jump. As I recall, DVDVR mostly hated his feud with Punk.
  14. The nudity is nearly the only thing I remember about the show. It was a big deal in our household and neighborhood. When it aired, I had just graduated college and gotten married. Had HBO for the first time. I think a lot of my neighbors were just discovering Showtime and HBO and we watched a lot of bad shows and movies for the... titillation factor, I guess you could call it. Watching R-rated shows in our own homes was almost as novel to us young suburbanites as it was teenage boys. I just looked up Dream On to see what years it ran. If I knew it was created by Marta Kauffman and David Crane of Friends fame, I forgot. I also have no memory of Wendy Malick playing the ex-wife. Was the show any good? I have even thought about it in the past 10 or 20 years. Like I said, I remember almost nothing about it.
  15. Typo? I'm guessing you meant "before the Miller era" which is probably true. Not sure I'd agree there was nothing memorable in Miller's run. Has Daredevil maybe been Marvel's mot consistent book since Miller? I've never been a huge fan of the character, but there's been a lot of good writers on the book since Miller. Nocenti had a long run with JRJR that I liked a lot, Kesel had a good run, Bendis was on the book for years and did mostly great work. Brubaker, Andy Diggle was on the book for a year, Waid, etc. There hasn't been that many bad periods for the title in the past 20-30 years. Most of the longer runs on the title have been "bigger name" writers who did great work. I may be wrong. Daredevil's never been a personal favorite of mine, but it seems like Marvel's taken care of it rather well when assigning creative teams, unlike other books which seem to get "prestige" runs every few creative teams and filler in between.
  16. Meltzer says the WWE is going to have to relocate Thunderdome at the end of November. Their contract with the Amway Center expires Nov. 24 and the venue is expected to be used for minor league hockey and (probably) NBA beginning in December. Going back to the PC is an option, but the company is looking at moving it to another city. https://www.f4wonline.com/wwe-news/wwes-thunderdome-run-orlando-expected-end-late-november-323566
  17. I'm probably in the minority, but he's a channel changer in household.
  18. Well, the other stat that jumps out is the average length of title runs. Hogan held the belt six times, and the average length of his reigns was almost one year (364 days avg., if I did the match in my head right). Bruno Backlund and Pedro had mulit-year reigns. Cena..... held the belt 13 times and averaged under 100 days Says a lot about how Vince views the belt. I'm somewhat surprised Cena didn't break Flair's record for title reigns. That seemed like a done deal at one point. Although, I imagine Vince would have given Cena a couple "cup of coffee" runs if he had realized Cena would eventually find another career path (or, alternately, if someone had gone back in time to the early 2000's and told Vince Cena would become his biggest star for a decade and change, but would leave him in the late 2010's to try his hand at acting, Vince might have buried John out of spite for daring to not need him).
  19. Wait until they start selling RETRIBUTION merch in the WWE shop (assuming they haven't done that already).
  20. I misread that as Alan Moore and was really confused for a minute.
  21. Apparently most of the links to older games (pre-PS4) are broken and take you back to the main page, though I did click on a couple of PS3 games and brought up their page. It at least looked like I could order the game. They even removed PS3/Vita/PSP games from the list of recently played games in your account. The PS3 titles I played recently are missing. The new layout is such as mess I can't tell what's deliberate and what's just broken. If you'e removing PS3 and Vita support, why not just remove the links to those stores entirely? There are links below the main menu in the games section. Why can't I sort PS4 games by title or release date? Just.... I'm really annoyed they removed the "Downloads" link and replaced it with a link that takes you to the console's library. If I change over to a different console (say, my PS4 goes bad and I buy a new one), I shouldn't have to go on a scavenger hunt to see if I can remember all the games and dlc I previously downloaded.
  22. New PSN store seems to be live. Haven't checked it out on my desktop yet, but it seems to be a mess. Confusing layout and missing a lot of the little things I used (couldn't find an option to switch from mobile view to desktop site, couldn't sort games by name or price, etc.). I'll take a closer look at it later but it looked a lot less useful to me. I mostly only use it to check the day;s new releases and deals, but still..... Edit: yeah, it's hard to browse from the mobile phone right now because you can't sort the viewing order of titles. I'll try out the app later but I expect it to be the same. I do see links for the PS3 and PS Vita stores, though the PS3 store is only listing 1800+ titles. PS3 store had 2,138 titles yesterday. Not sure if they delisted 300 games or some of the dlc and bundles are being listed differently. Difference might be psp games. Irrc, you could still buy Vita and PSP games through the PS3 store. PSPsupport looks to be gone entirely.
