  1. All the Creed bros. need to say is "Give me some of dem peas. I had peas b'fore" and they'll golden.
  2. I still can't get over that the reveal is You know you're out of ideas when you're cribbing from Dan Slott's Iron Man run.
  3. Inoki-Saito? The infamous island death match. Had to be a cave somewhere on that damn island.
  4. Lol, I forgot that. I tossed out a tag match in a cage as a contender, but the tag match part was just coincidental.
  5. Probably not my absolute favorite cage match ever, but I'll throw out the Rock n Roll Express/Heavenly Bodies from Smoky Mountain's 1994 Bluegrass Brawl show as a dark horse pick deserving consideration. Great match that flipped the script in a number of surprising ways (heel in peril segment? Sure. Why not?). Match was also Loser Leaves blowing off a great feud between the two teams, so the crowd was hot and the stakes were believably high. Bodies and RnR had a number of great matches in RnR is SMW. IIRC, there's a week or two of house shows somewhere in there where the two teams worked sixty min ironman matches every other night or so. Pity more people haven't seen that stuff. I don't think the 1994 Bluegrass Brawl is out there in full. The fancam (?) I got only has two matches on it. My favorite cage match is probably Tully/Magnum.
  6. I hate to think what sort of flash point mandatory vaccinations in school is going to be. The masks in school debate is ugly in my state and a lot of others. I don't see mandatory vaccinations in schools getting much traction in a lot of states.
  7. Yeah, I'm kinda loathing the new twists. I'm going to pick up 74, but I'm doubling down on what I said before. Mostly, I just want this storyline - and Spencer's run - to end.
  8. I have that feeling every time Carmelo Hayes shows up on tv. He doesn't stand out to me in any way.
  9. Apparently, Owens was tweeting - then deleting - cryptic references to Mt. Rushmore (PWG stable; original version was Owens, Bucks, Cole). I run very hot and cold on Owens, so I'm not sure if I should be anticipating Owens jumping ship or dreading the prospect. Been ice cold on him in WWE since he turned babyface and started doing his discount Stone Cold tribute, so maybe a change is in order.
  10. FWIW, Alan Wake is my favorite game from Remedy. I wish they hadn't released dlc and a follow-up XBL game that removed the ambiguity from the story (the base game leads you to believe that you'e in Stephen King/Jonathan Carroll territory, but hedges its bets just enough that you still think maybe it's all in Alan's head and he's actually just losing his sanity. Even the closing sequence is open to interpretation). I know most people love Control and I enjoyed it a lot, but it wasn't close to my game of the year. Not even in my top 10. I'd rate Control and Horizon Zero Dawn as solid 8/8.5 out of 10, but don't really understand the game of the generation talk for either of them. I also think Quantum Break is kind of underrated, but that's a different topic.
  11. Great game. Very excited about getting a remastered version. I'd been wanting to replay the game on Series X to see how it looked on a current-gen console, so the optimized version is probably going to be an immediate play-through for me. Release date is supposedly October 4, though I haven't seen that confirmed yet. In other news, I'm probably going to buy 8-10 new releases this week. That... seems like a lot. Starting F.I.S.T." Forged in Shadow Torch tonight. Early reviews have been great. PlayStation will probably win the month with four or five good exclusives (FIST, Deathloop, Kena, Death Stranding Director's Cut).
  12. Kenny Omega vs. Stan Hansen is the odd couple feud i didn't know i wanted until just now. I wonder if Stan can pull off a SSP.
  13. I hated the ending but that game over-delivered. It's going to be hard to top McKenzie Milton for feel-good story of the year. I almost caved and watch the AEW PPV instead. Glad I didn't.
  14. Why do you hate Impact so much? Did they run over your dog.... then back up and do it again. As of a week ago, Bryan Alvarez was fairly certain Bray wasn't going to end up in AEW and would probably go to Impact. We'll see. Unfortunately.
  15. He and another member of the wrestling team were accused of rape when they were in college. No charges were filed. Police investigated and declined to file charges. Everyone involved told different stories and everyone involved was very drunk. Comments made by the prosecutor's office made it sound like she consented at the time, but was too drunk to properly (legally) consent. On the other hand, Minnesota law gives prosecutors discretion to prosecute in instances where the accused knew or should have known the victim's judgment was too impaired to give legal consent, so maybe that's not what the district attorney was implying. It's also worth noting that the DA was asked if a change in the law (to make it easier to prosecute cases where the victim was impaired) would have resulted in charges being filed and the answer was "no". That maybe implies her bac wasn't the issue. School investigation supposedly cleared Steveson outright. Police investigation allegedly exonerated the wrestlers, but nothing like that was said publicly. Official reason for dropping the charges was "insufficient evidence". School suspended Steveson from the wrestling team while charges were investigated, then reinstated him when case was dropped.
  16. Vince is probably also fretting that people won't be able to keep Chad Gable and Gable Steveson straight. Too many Gables. How are fans supposed to tell the difference?
  17. My meager hopes for our (WVU's) season have also cooled dramatically.
  18. I don't watch the show. Were they being sarcastic?
  19. Strazcynski's run on the book is probably my favorite Spidey run. I'm even a heretic who doesn't like JRJR's art much. I enjoyed Sins Past and One More Day. I'm not crazy about the ideas behind each story (Gwen and Norman had kids together; supernatural hocus pocus hand-waves away Pete's marriage and other baggage). I don't like the ideas behind the stories and how they affected continuity, buy my understanding is that the plots were editorial decisions and Stracyzynski just made the best he could out of it. I actually think Sins Past turned out well, but fans hated the idea of Norman and Gwen having kids together. In general, I dislike introducing characters or plot points that should have been mentioned earlier but never were ("I'd like to you meet my best friend who I've never mentioned before even though we've been married for ten years"). Yeah, most good-great runs on Marvel/DC books end weaker than they started. Peter David's run on Hulk, Busiek's run on Avengers, Wolfman's run on Teen Titans, John's run on Green Lantern, etc. It's really hard to spend a couple years on a book at the Big Two and tell the story you want the way you want. Either editorial talks you into staying too long on the book and you run out of ideas or you have to adjust your plans to shoehorn in crossovers and other editorial mandates. Or you just get booted off the book in the middle of a story because the company wants to reboot the book with a new #1 and decides to change creative teams in the bargain.
  20. Spencer's last issue is going to reveal that Kindred is actually Vince McMahon, isn't it? "IT WAS ME, AUSTIN.... ER, I MEAN, PARKER.... IT WAS ME ALL ALONG!"
  21. The Horizon Forbidden West flap is reminding me how little I miss physical editions. Switching to (almost) all digital was definitely the right decision for me.
  22. Ugh? It feels like a red herring to me, but mostly I just want this story to reach some sort of conclusion. I've liked most of Spencer's run and the Kindred mystery was well-done for awhile, but it's been downhill for me since the reveal. I don't feel like the story needs any more twists or false finishes this late in the game.
  23. Honestly, the rotating guest hosts/contributors idea has my interest, at least as a gimmick. Curious to see if it has legs.
