  1. When Diaz puts the final nail in the coffin of Tony's career and gets handed the live mic*, it's going to be the capper to a helluva week. * OK, technically Joe is going to be holding it for him.
  2. I don't recall if it was ever discussed in here or the doc thread but there is a 2021 doc available on Prime called Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror and it is fantastic. It properly starts off with British cinema's Unholy Trinity, Witchfinder General, The Blood on Satan's Claw, and The Wicker Man , and then delves into the literary origins of British folk horror and its impact on cinema and television, including children's shows. It then jumps over to the U.S. to discuss its parallel but distinct development of the genre. From there it begins a world tour that starts in Central and South America, jumps to Australia, New Zealand, Eastern Europe, and Asia. Even with a three hour and twelve minute running time it feels like it barely scratches the surface. But what a scratch! A ton of film clips. An army of talking heads filmed for this doc as well as archival interviews touching on a range of topics, from back-to-the-land movements, the 60's and 70's fascination with mysticism & the occult, real-life cults , Nazism, the genre as a reaction to the feminist movement, and on and on. A must watch for any fans of folk horror. Prepare to make a long list of films and books to add to your pile.
  3. I will gladly take on anything that is deemed "too hard to find".... unless it's a Buttgereit film.
  4. It's time to change it up from Cult of Personality. Billy Idol is right there.
  5. I can relate. Went through something similar a couple of years ago. Spent a. day in the hospital for the first time in my life. Took a few visits to a cardiologist and several tests to find out I wasn't in imminent danger of having a heart attack. Scary stuff. Hope you're feeling better.
  6. Clearly we know who Dick Dastardly is. Mox for Muttley?
  7. It's not great and it's very much of it's time but well worth watching.
  8. It certainly didn't change the inevitable outcome. Nor was it particularly dirty. Stuff happens in that situation.
  9. I've never seen E.T. and likely never will. One of the first films I remember where the trailer clearly hit every major story beat. Alien comes to earth, meets cute with kid, kid hides him but other kids find out, government baddies show up, kids lam it with alien, alien nearly dies but recovers, says goodbye to kid, E.T. go home, the end. Every bit of it was in the trailer. No thanks.
  10. I would say that he shouldn't have wanted to be in that steaming pile 25 years ago but obviously it changed his career.
  11. I have those dreams too. Weirdly, they're all about Mildred Burke.
  12. I'm torn. On the one hand, Elizabeth Daily. On the other hand, Valeria Golino.
  13. He was never actually cancelled though. He wasn't the lead in big budget films but, outside of Pee-wee, he wasn't going to be anyway. He was still cast in films and television projects between his arrest and the "big comeback" in Blow. Even his second arrest, which on it's surface was far more serious, didn't manage to end his career. But anyway Happy Belated Birthday Pee-wee, you magnificent bastard!
  14. "Though it's structure, as measured against more recent entertainments, may be quite obsolete, yet it still enjoys the largest average daily attendance amongst the female patrons within this vast amusement complex."
  15. Quoted for truth, though I assume I would attempt to kill the sick fuck that was trying to force me into this Sophie's Choice of a dilemma.
  16. The Stun Bum!!! The Hip Wreck. She needs a back story too, like she is of Icelandic descent and they have unusually hard hips. She can be The Rassinn Assassin.
  17. Technically speaking, The Body Snatcher (45) is a heist film. Any number of mummy films might fall into the same category.
