APRIL 2016 WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD
Technico Support replied to RIPPA's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
Nothing at all. They just needed another big match for Mania. Vince is lazy, unimaginative and has no faith in anybody from this generation so that was they best they could come up with. We should have known, when HHH and Steph were nowhere to be seen -- in an angle where their jobs were supposedly on the line -- that nothing was going to come of this. I mean come the fuck on. It was an angle where the entire future of the company was at stake and nobody outside the principles involved with it even talked about it. Damn. It was a hotshot angle that existed in a parallel universe and had nothing to do with the existing storylines. -
Ideas to make SmackDown a better show
Technico Support replied to Matt788's topic in WWE PROGRAMMING
They'd need to make Smackdown totally different from Raw to make it a better show. It's can't just be a Raw Lite, meaningless two hours of programming because Raw is already too god damn long as it is. The brand split/different titles ideas are great but they should change the look, too. I remember hearing from either Court Bauer or Alex Greenfield on a podcast talking about how they proposed back in the day for Smackdown to be a totally different show like this, complete with a different director, producer and crew. There was initial agreement from Vince but he changed his mind and somehow it was shot down. I don't know how, but it just didn't get dunn. I mean done. Sorry for the typo. -

2-3 posts in a row mentioned bands and wrestlers, so forgive my confusion as I imagined Chuck D powerbombing a dude through a table -
I take it you're cool with the people sitting near you talking through a movie, too. After all, why should you care if that's how they personally enjoy it? For me, the reaction of the live crowd is part of the show. It's more exciting to watch a great match if the live crowd is reacting along with it. So a bunch of ignorant chucklefucks singing through a match for their own amusement kind of brings things down a notch.

Mincing garlic is super easy if you have a good chef's knife and you use the flat of the blade to crush it first. Crushing it while it still has the "paper" on it makes it so much easier to peel as well. Just snip the hard ends off, crush it, peel and mince. -
Won't somebody please think of all the white males who can't get roles in Hollywood because the PC SJW casting directors keep putting women in these movies?
-
Just got to the women's title match. Yay, more fans singing instead of actually investing in the match.

Oh holy shit that is fucking amazing. Speaking of...if the interviewer does ask a wacky outside the box question like those listed here, feel free to choke them the fuck out. Drag their unconscious body to the HR office, explain what happened. Any company worth a damn will hire you on general principle.

Zane Bresloff, who promoted Mania 3 in Michigan, gave Dave the 78,000 number. Faxed it right to him, and Wiki bros are still all, "Metzler is bias he never lieked WWF!" It's insane.
-
Oh I do, too. Job interviews are just a bullshit game and everybody knows it. The key is really to just not say anything that would disqualify you and to be personable enough that they think you can get along.
-
And the answer to that is something the lines of "hopefully here, advancing my career to the next level and contributing...I hope you find me to be a valuable addition." Put it in your own words, smile, try to sound natural, not like you're reading a script on Raw. This is the place where you're telling them you want to stay, conform and contribute, even if you don't mean it...not where you talk about your lifelong dream of eventually quitting work to raise llamas. A company wants someone who is good and who will stick around so they don't have to go through this hiring bullshit again. Last guy I hired, we only had 3 applicants who could even get to the interview stage. So yeah, make them think you're that guy who will be there in 5 years. If you have any answer to any question contradicts that narrative, like "I may be going back to school in a year," just lie.

In all seriousness, Meltzer is the closest, most credible thing wrestling has to a journalist. On a note related to your post, stay away from the "talk" tab in the Mania 3 Wikipedia page. Or read it next March Madness to put things in perspective when you think some of us are getting a little ridiculous.

Well it's Dave. If it happens in Japan, it gets an extra star. If two guys blow spots or just look like shit in general, the sloppiness adds to the realism.

I dunno man. I'll allow the "land on your forehead on a bridge" part but his feet clearly go out before he sticks it. -
You can say that again. On a five-star scale, 2.5 is average and that Taker/Shane match was certainly below average. Spot, lay around, spot, lay around, rinse, repeat. Thank God and Jesus and Mr. McMahon for the 'skip ahead 10 seconds" button.

I saw a vapid news story a few days ago about job interviews that really pissed me off. It was about goofy questions interviewers ask, like "how many basketballs do you think could fit in this room?" and other wacky~! "outside the box" questions. As someone who has been on both sides of the interview table, I hate shit like this. It comes off like the interviewer thinks he's clever and is having some fun at the expense of someone who wants, maybe desperately needs, a job. Christ, have some fucking empathy. Guys looking for jobs: if you're in front of an interviewer, odds are your resume matches what they need. At this rate, you just need to prove you're a guy they'd like to work with and not fuck up the interview. Just prep for standard job interview questions, try to anticipate what they might ask about your experience, and be enthusiastic about the job -- I got my first job in my current field based on lies and enthusiasm. Once you're in the room, unless they're just huge assholes, you just have to prove your resume isn't bullshit and that you have a personality that meshes with theirs. That was some rambling shit but I want to say good luck, my dudes.

Apparently the Trip & Steph S&M Swingers Club/Skeleton Army (featuring masks from Silver Shamrock) was: Itami Dash & Dawson Chad Gable Chris Girard Blake & Murphy Enzo The Drifter Drake Wuertz & 2 other refs I need a sequel to last year's Wrestlemania 24 Itami special where we follow Hideo all day to culminate in that dumb bullshit

The whole "changing their names" thing is punitive, petty and dumb. Business as usual for Vince, in other words. "Oh, he might take the name he made here and use it to make money elsewhere!" 1) Who cares? The guy made money for you while he was there 2) It's beyond arrogant to think that a guy is worthless until you rename him and put your machine behind him 3) So your solution is to hurt his ability to make money because he left? Fuck. That would be like my company having a policy that states that I can't list my experience here on a resume should I decide to quit. -
