  1. Not finishers per se, but I can't stand "signature counters" because they're just too business exposing in their need for obvious cooperation. For example, women who never ever did top rope moves would suddenly think they're Superfly Snuka against Trish Stratus so she could do the Stratusphere. Ditto Samoa Joe's corner Uranage. See also: You Can't Powerbomb Kidman!
  2. They should rebrand both shows but they won't. "Smackdown" is a dated reference, named after the catchphrase of a guy who barely works for them. Shouldn't they be looking forward, not backward? And there's nothing "Raw" anymore about their canned, overproduced, overscripted Monday show. The show started as a food truck, now it's an Applebee's. Neither name fits anymore and they're so far past due to freshen things up it's ridiculous. They need change it up and get away from how homogeneous everything is. They've been using the same sets for eight years. Fuck.
  3. It wasn't Heenan's fault...Bischoff didn't clue the announcers in on the angle. What a fucking goof.
  4. Holy shit a Creepshow comic reference in 2016. Bravo to you sir.
  5. Jerry was right to be mad at her, out carousing like that on a school night.
  6. We need an Austin guest spot where "TIE-JIRI" gives him words of wisdom.
  7. Ha! Nope, that was their big album from 1993, which predated ECW by about a year.
  8. It just dawned on me yesterday that Ambrose's finish is called Dirty Deeds because Vince is a huge AC/DC fan.
  9. Back in the 90s, listening to Siamese Dream, did you ever imagine its royalties would be funding the dying breaths of an awful wrestling promotion 20 years later? The world is funny sometimes.
  10. That was my read on it, too. They wouldn't suspend him unless the bloom was off the rose and the push was over. I haven't heard the podcast yet but apparently Meltzer said the B-shows with Ambrose on top were drawing the same or better than the A shows with Reigns, so money talks.
  11. All we need is Kevin Dunn to die in an unfortunate smelting accident and it'll be Smark Christmas in June
  12. Lending more credence to the argument for rehiring Chris Hero. Twinkies and Armour Thyroid aren't on the banned list.
  13. I read that article and it just felt so desperate to me, like the producers locked the writers in a room and made them watch Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool on a loop for a week. "GODDAMMIT MAKE IT FUNNY." When we see Batman cruising the city in the Batmobile listening to the 70s pop compilation that Martha Wayne left for him, we'll know.
  14. Damn, looks like a good show. And next should be BOLA.
  15. Much like the Devil's best trick was convincing man that he didn't exist, Russo's best trick is that he comes across as so intelligent and reasonable. Then you hire him.
  16. Yeah, maybe don't have a name that sounds like "Jack Stain."
  17. Re: The Fox lineup...how the everloving fuck is Hell's Kitchen still on the air? Every season is exactly the same. Where do they keep finding "professional cooks" dumb enough to ruin risotto and scallops every single time? Surely the well should have run dry by now. I only spent 3 months as a prep cook 20+ years ago and I make perfect scallops every single time. Odds and ends: I just binge watched all of Silicon Valley and it's an awesome, awesome show. Ray Donovan starts Sunday and I'm psyched.
  18. Thanks for the link. Holy shit, he was 197lbs in NXT at one point.
  19. When I heard Lawler was in trouble for allegedly hitting his girlfriend, I assumed "child abuse" would be one of the charges.
  20. In keeping in line with Lemmy, Bowie and Prince, for a minute there I was afraid the next show would need to be called Meat Loaf.
  21. When he first turned up looking definitely bigger than he had in NXT, I'd heard he'd had some sort of injury (back, maybe?) that kept him from training. But that was a while back, so no idea what the story is now. Maybe it's just a matter of just being a dude of size who's not getting any younger.
  22. It's because there's a whole subculture whose only definition of self is through its ability to own guns. It is both safety blanket and penis extension. Even the slightest perceived threat to gun ownership turns into a big thing with them. It's the crowd who rushes out to buy more guns after every mass shooting for fear that Black President will somehow ban guns immediately. This is the subculture that the NRA whips into a frenzy whenever anyone makes a peep about maybe, possibly, making even the slightest restrictions on ownership.
