Back in Feb in Memphis. How did this match happen with out me hearing a word about it?

Hit up the Memphis Legends show in Lula Mississippi last night. Started off with a concert from Jimmy Hart and the Bruise Brothers band. Then had the following matches. Jerry Lawler vs "Lord Humongous" Mitch Snakeman Torretta vs Bill Dundee Tatt2 vs Precious with Nate the Rat Derrick King vs Dustin Starr with Maria.Maria was handcuffed to Bill Dundee. Main event was Bonecrusher,Cass a Nova Kid with a midget AKA The Pink and Black Attack vs Bret Micheals,someone else and Hollywood Jimmy.

From what Rodney Mack has told me ,she retired mostly cause she was having trouble getting booked. There is only a handful of women wrestlers in the deep south. Most of whom refused to face Jazz. And Jazz really didn't want to do intergender matches.Plus IIRC Jazz is in her mid 40s now. Rodney still works fairly often.

Jazz retired late last year/early this year. She is now a cop near New Orleans.

Local comic shop bought a huge collection recently. Lots of 80s thru mid 90s stuff. One drawback every issue has the previous owner's name written on the cover or somewhere inside the issue. So almost all of it got dumped into the dollar bins. Dug out 3 issues of an odd series. From 1981 and published by Survival Press Art.

Splatterpunks II Read the first volume a few years back. Grabbed this one cheap. Decent so far.

Any word on how long Lemire is gonna be on Moon Knight? Read the first 5 issues and love it.

Found the paperback of that book last year at DOllar General. Still haven't read it.But then just found out that the Phantom of the Movies,of Videoscope fame,real name is Joe Kane. Which is also the name of one of the best indy vets in LA.

Those are a few years old.

Just finished up my re-reading of The Boys tonight.Some how even though I own it all in trades I had never read the Highland Laddie or Butcher mini series. Damn good series.

Nah it is cause Lawler loves wrestling. Last year he worked a show at a casino in North Mississippi. I ended up being part of the video crew that show. Found out later on what Lawler got paid and it was cheap.

Finished Card Sharks by Pete Williams the other day. While it is a history of the baseball card business it is more about how shady Upper Deck was. Started two books yesterday. My Life with SDS and the Weathermen Underground by Mark Rudd & The Incredibly Strange Film Book by Jonathan Ross.

The Pretty Boy Killers AKA Shane Taylor and Keith Lee showed up in ROH last trip they made thru TX. Seen both live in various TX/LA/MS indies and they are great. Watched Keith do what turned into a flipping buttsplash last Labor Day weekend at a VIP show in Dallas.

Got a bunch of horror/cult movie reference books coming in. But today Clive Barker's A to Z of Horror got here. So far it is really good. Last book I finished was that Tim Hornbaker history of the NWA book. Good read but holy fuck was it a bit dry and boring in parts. Took me almost a month to read it. When normally I can finish a book that size in a week tops.

Pro Wrestling EGO just had a documentary about it released today. EGO runs the Jackson area of Mississippi. The director/camera operator is Logan Creed aka Micheal Crosby. He got injured a bit over a year ago. So reinvented himself as a backstage interviewer and made this documentary. It's a bit over an hour. First half is mostly about a recent MS legends show. Brickhouse Brown,Pork Chop Cash and out of nowhere Curtis Hughes showed up. Then second half is mostly Crosby asking various EGO regulars about their injuries.

Yeah he is getting a short tour over there. If he was just 2 inches taller he would be in NXT or something of that level. Seen him come out in front of a crowd that didn't know him. And after 5 minutes had them all hating him. Plus kind of neat first show I went to I am pretty sure his Dad worked it.

Now this is coming from Jamie Dundee so take it with a grain of salt. But supposedly when Lawler married Stacy he wanted Brian to call her stepmom. Brian's reply was "I ain't calling that whore anything but whore." Met Jerry and his current fiance last Labor Day weekend. Lawler was nice as fuck and spent time after the show just hanging out and stuff,he saw my Punisher hat and bookbag and talked comics with me. He was in the middle of telling me how good the new Superman story was when his lady walked up with what appeared to be a 15 or 16 year old teenage girl. "Yeah Jerry got them to keep the buffet open late for us. Then afterwards up to our room for dessert."After she said that Lawler stopped talking gave her a nasty look then said "Well guys gotta go eat the ladies are hungry. Have a safe trip home."Then him,his fiance and the teen wandered off. I love how the zero tolerance policy for domestic abuse doesn't apply to Stone Cold.

No clue if this news is out there yet or not. But talked to Derrick King after the Wrestle Birmingham show 2 weekends ago,and was told he is having his retirement match in July against Jerry Lawler.

Wrestle Birmingham June 5th 2016 Wrestle Birmingham Champion Chase Stevens vs Derrick King. Found out after the match that Stevens broke his foot after his odd landing outside the ring and that come next month King is having his retirement match against Jerry Lawler.

Well at the Gulf South Wrestling Bullet Bob Armstrong Retirement show Saturday in Chickasaw AL,Bullet Bob didn't show up. Kept hearing he had some kind of infection. What was kind of scummy was the promoter knew at least 3 hours before the meet and greet started and said nothing. Intermission hits and again nothing is said. Then intermission ends and he comes to the ring "Some horrible person slashed all four of Bullet Bob's tires so he can't make it. But we got him on the phone." And some guy held a phone up to the mic and for 3 minutes we heard nothing as the promoter talked to "Bullet Bob" on the phone. After the show at least 4 fans asked for their money back,and got told they wouldn't get it back and were banned from GSW shows. Then went Sunday to the Wrestle Birmingham Legacy show. Was held right outside Birmingham. And had listed Robert and Ron Fuller,Jimmy Golden,Action Jackson the old Memphis guy,Tracy Smothers,Derrick King and Chase Stevens plus Bullet Bob and the Armstrong family. I was thinking if Bob shows up to this show I am betting he had money issues with the other fed. Bob and none of the Armstrongs showed up. No mention was made of them. But hey at the GSW show got to watch the Golden Corral Doink vs Heidenreich match with the guy who was the ring announcer in that match,Eddie something. He worked a bunch of the early TNA Weekly PPVs. Then got to watch Will Ospreay vs Ricochet with Tracy Smothers and Robert Fuller. That more than made up for not getting to see Bullet Bob.

Back 10 years ago at a XWA show in Pascagoula at the fairgrounds,during the main event New Jack made a surprise appearance. Someone that lived right by the fairgrounds saw New Jack coming out with the trash can of plunder and called the cops. Telllig them some gang was attacking the wrestlers at the fairgrounds. The cops showed up and entered,no one knew they had been called. And come out guns drawn. I know who has the footage,but they refuse to make me a copy or upload it.
