  1. Credit to Miami for keeping it more competitive than Clemson did, but FSU is just clearly head and shoulders above them. Really, the only team that can beat FSU is Alabama. And I'm not saying that like it's a given.
  2. There is something just off about combat. It seems like the enemies don't "feed" your combo as effectively as they did in the Rocksteady games. I've lost numerous combos because I've anticipated a guy, any guy, attacking me...but then nobody does, they all just stand there looking at me, and I press counter to nothing or that slight hesitation makes me not hit the attack button quick enough. Drives me nuts. I've been stuck on the "perform 20 critical stikes in one combo" Dark Knight challenge forever because of that.
  3. You know it's a bad week for college football when we can't even get this thread past 1 page. Anyway, Southern Miss hit a new milestone today, pushing their losing streak to 20 games. Northwestern's record of 34 straight losses now seems attainable.
  4. It's almost an exact replica of Arkham City. Everything is the same with a slightly different coat of paint.
  5. It will probably suck as bad as the last primetime "main event" FSU game. Canes gonna get spanked.
  6. Certainly it has been remarked upon before, but it bears repeating: Tom Atkins is the pimpin'est guy of all-time in HALLOWEEN 3. Runs game on literally very female he comes across in that movie. I had completely forgotten about the part at the end when the girl robot just keeps coming back over...and over...and over...Hilarious.
  7. Alan Sepinwall has a good article up detailing some of the problems with the SHIELD show. Can't figure out how to post the link on my phone, but you know where he is.
  8. Yeah, I really don't love the trailer. According to some reports, it's the exact same reel they showed at Comic Con, so I guess that might explain why it's just a bunch of character close-ups with little action. But why would you release that as the first mainstream trailer? I like what it suggests, but dammit, the thing comes out in 8 months. Show me something.

    HOMELAND

Can we at least mention the implausibility of Jessica searching out Carrie for help finding Dana? In what universe does that happen? I also love how the show undermines Saul. On the goose hunt, his whole point is that spying isn't about sitting back, waiting for the bad guy to poke his head out, and then blowing it off. It doesn't work that way, he says. And yet, on HOMELAND, it consistently works that way. The world's most wanted terrorists are constantly poking their heads up, right in our backyard.
  10. Between this show continuing on, the spin-off in the works, and their continued inability to launch any successful new dramas, one wonders if AMC might better off rebranding itself as a horror channel after MAD MEN ends in 2015.
  11. I think if he was in this, we would have heard by now. Would be awesome though. It seems absurd that, with the X-Men's deep bench of villains. we made it all the way to FIRST CLASS before getting another major supervillain besides Magneto.

    Random TV Thoughts

It's not the sort of show that's going to generate enough discussion to warrant it's own thread, I don't think, but MASTERS OF SEX has turned out to be an outstanding show. It's mostly really fun and funny, but when it hits, it hits hard. Not sure how true to life it is, but Bill Masters is a piece of work.

    HOMELAND

So it appears we have yet another terrorist mastermind just puttering around America. He should be alright as long as he steers clear of 7-Eleven.
  14. I cleared the Deathstroke fight tonight and didn't find it nearly as frustrating as a lot of people seem to have. I figured out the trick about halfway through my first time fighting him, then beat him the second time around. I liked it. The back and forth combat had a different feel than most boss fights in the series. I also cleared all the Anarky side stuff, which was basically the "race across the city to beat the timer" Zsasz missions with a new coat of paint. After you beat him, he monologues for, like, 5 minutes straight. I should've gotten a trophy for standing there and listening to all that.
  15. Man, I don't want to start some shit but FSW is dead on with this: Literally every Marvel movie, with the exception of the first Iron Man, gets worse the more times you watch them. They are pure, disposable commercial product. Good commercial product, mind you, at least relative to most similar fare that Hollywood puts out, but once you get past the surface level entertainment of the first viewing, the emptiness just becomes more and more apparent.30 years from now, after Marvel has rebooted these franchises at least once and special effects are 1000% better than they are today, no one is going to care one iota about any of these movies.Conversely, 30 years from now, THE DARK KNIGHT is still going to be relevant because it actually chose to be about something, not just "stop the volcano people" or "defeat the aliens on jet skis" or "watch two fake computer images smash each other "
  16. It's really easy to level up quickly with the new XP multipliers and the Dark Knight challenges.
  17. Yeah, I haven't heard anything that I wasn't expecting to hear. I'll still be picking up a copy this afternoon.
  18. The thing about 50 SHADES is that it was an e-book sensation. Most people didn't actually rush anywhere and buy it. In the case of most readers, you wouldn't even know they were reading it, because there was no actual book. There was an anonymity to it that no doubt emboldened many who might not otherwise have read it. That will be lost with the film version, where you'll have to show your face to other human beings at the theater. I expect it to bomb at the cinema, but then do gangbusters when it returns to the anonymous realm of OnDemand, Redbox, Netflix, etc.
  19. Yes, corporate synergy in the interest of making money. Disney: "Yo, Marvel, we makin a lotta money in the movies, you wanna kick some of that ABC's way?" Literally every show on TV exists because someone thinks there's money in it. That, in and of itself, does not constitute a compelling reason. That is the baseline reason. But every show worth a damn has an answer to the question "What else?" To date, I don't think SHIELD has the else figured out.
