  1. I wanted to like End of Watch but I couldn't get more than 30 minutes into it. Hand-held/shakycam stuff gives me a terrible headache.
  2. I don't really like Mind Over Matter either. The TK power is annoying to use since it never seems to target right for me. And like the Rift stuff, it is hard for me to tell the difference between the targets. I got silver in all of them but I don't think I am going to bother to get gold. I got a RPG last night after I did Pierce's nightmare mission and then I noticed Friendly Fire had them in stock. I'm really liking the nightmare and loyalty missions, there are some great callbacks to older games in the series.
  3. I haven't found a RPG yet. The explosive slot at Friendly Fire doesn't have anything in it.
  4. I've been using the SMGs as my primary gun. They're not as fancy as stuff like the America gun, but pretty powerful once they're fully buffed, especially when combined with the freeze or fire.
  5. The Saints Row Twitter said they are working on something. I would maybe just keep an eye on that for now.
  6. Well, it was originally supposed to be DLC, piggybacking on the Saints in Space mission in 3. A year is an extremely quick turnaround for an open world game, even one like this that reuses a lot of assets, so there probably are a few bugs/glitches in it. But I saw on the NeoGaf thread that there was a patch released (can't remember if it was for PC or 360) that messed up the weapons, among other things. The same thread also has a lot of PS3 users complaining about freezes but I haven't encountered anything besides small ones (like 3 seconds) when I try to start an activity while the game is auto saving.
  7. I loathe eharmony commercials. They have repeated a line in a lot of their spots recently that is something to the effect of "Most successful relationships start on eharmony". Really? 51% of people in relationships met on eharmony? Getdafuckouttahere! Ugh. I hate hate HATE eHarmony commercials. That guy is so smarmy yet creepy at the same time, and that was before he started inferring three way action. The one with his "grand-daughter" makes me change the channel. I hate when commercials use "cute" kids, especially when they say stuff like "I told him eHawonee has awl of the hawtest babes". What the fuck kind of kid talks about "hot babes" to their grandfather? The stats are laughable. Anyone who has done internet dating sites will tell you what a cesspool they are. Maybe good for the occasional booty call or one night stand, but you are much better off trying to meet someone at the grocery store than employing an overpriced scam site like eHarmony that makes you complete overly complicated personality "tests" and then blames you for not being able to find anyone because you didn't do them right.
  8. If you like the over the top stuff in 3, you would like 4. This was originally just supposed to be a DLC pack for 3, so the core elements haven't changed a whole lot. You get super powers that let you do stuff like super sprint, run up the sides of buildings, glide, freeze/shock/burn people, use telekenesis, etc. There are also more side missions/collectables and a better variety of them. The world itself is still kind of bland design-wise, especially since it is night all of the time, but there's more to do in it, so it's a nice sandbox to play in. Hulk Hogan isn't in the game AFAIK (Killbane makes an appearance but it's silent) but there is a cameo from another wrestler who was big in the 80s. The weapons from 3 are back, and there are some new alien ones that are pretty cool, as well as stuff like the America gun which is a chaingun/flamethrower/rocket launcher combo and the Dubstep gun, which makes enemies dance themselves to death. You can also customize the skins like making them golden guns. There are more character customization options. You can have your character voiced by Nolan North and there are new clothing options like a Boba Fett suit. So far I am enjoying the game more than 3, but I still prefer part 2. I haven't listened to the radio much. I don't like having music play when I am outside of a vehicle in open world games. Also not too much of the radio appeals to me. The classical station is okay and there are are few songs on The Mix that I like, but generally reggae, rap, and electronica bores me. I miss The Blood.
  9. I didn't mind Heli Assault in 2 so much except for the mission in the Tera Patrick DLC, which is probably the most annoying mission in any of the three SR games I've played. Just relied way too much on perfect timing combined with a dose of dumb luck. I don't like Rift much. Maybe it's because I am partially color blind but I just find it hard to see what is going on. I still haven't been playing too many story missions. I did do enough to get telekenesis (meh) and fire (cool). I probably should get a move on with the story because at this rate I will not have this game finished by the time GTAV comes out. The romance options are pretty funny. Maybe one day Keith David will fall to my advances
  10. Going for the highway has always made Fraud easier. The superpowers make it almost too easy this time out. I've gotten gold on most of them from just one or two combos.
  11. Ugh. I hate the Jan commercials. She must be giving "favors" to someone at Toyota because this is like the third or fourth ad campaign with her. They keep trying to repackage the character, but she's utterly unlikeable no matter what. Also echo the hate for the Christian Mingle commercials. My GF likes watching junky true crime shows on ID and I swear they have one of those on every commercial break. I don't know what's worse, the jingle, the creepiness of the people, or the utter stupidity of paying a internet dating site to find "god's match" for you.
  12. Uh, ok. I suppose my point is that I agree with your point about Chinese historical figures being converted into Robin Hood. These men will always be presented as pariah and pillars of virtue in these films no matter how they were in real life. Even their character flaws will have some sort of positive effect on their character. As far as the "so we are all led to believe part," there are no less than five documented proponents of the Drunken Boxing style but most sources credit Zui Quan as the style's creator. It's really no mistake that the heroes in movies like Ip Man are presented as nearly perfect. There is a ton of blatant propagangda in the recent historical movies that are produced in Mainland China or financed by Mainland companies/government. The government has to approve the script and there is often months of post-production editing done as the government censors have their way. There is a new Wong Fei Hung movie in production and I wouldn't be surprised at all if it totally skips the drunken style, or makes it that he learned it because alcohol was forced on him by gwailos (foreigners). BTW, the US version of The Grandmaster has been cut by 20+ minutes. I am a huge Wong Kar Wai fan and of Hong Kong/Chinese cinema in general, so I would love to be able to support domestic showings, but I cannot in good faith give money to another instance of the Weinsteins pissing on Asian cinema.
  13. It's after AKA after the end of Kinzie's tutorial missions. There is a gateway you can enter that serves as a hub and has the functions of cribs in previous SR games like wardrobe, garage, arsenal, etc. Or you can go to a Friendly Fire and swap it into your inventory from there. All of the other pre-order bonuses are available at that time like the VTOL and Uncle Sam outfit. I also got the presidential masks and superhero outfits since I pre-ordered from Gamestop.
  14. I only have the hentai tentactle bat right now
  15. I'm still pretty early on in the game. I can only really play later at night for maybe an hour or two before I go to bed. I'm still only at level 12. Since the super sprint and jump got unlocked, I hardly ever use vehicles. Kind of seems pointless when you can pretty much fly around, and you grab more clusters that way. I forgot about calling in a tank. That would probably make some of the horde ones easier, especially the ones where you fight off 100 Professor Genki mascots.
  16. Played a bit more last night. Not really doing too many story missions, mostly side stuff. I like the new Virus Collection ones and jumping around to get all the clusters is pretty addicting. Just going around wearing the Obama mask and causing chaos with the America gun is pretty fun. I did do enough of the story to unlock getting homies. As you might expect, Keith David rules. I also got the ability to freeze people. I'm finding that the combo of freeze and then a swift kick to the nuts to shatter someone is much more effective than the guns - though I haven't bothered to really improve any of the gun stats yet.
  17. Yeah, with all the mandatory game installs and/or DLC a 12GB HD is pretty useless especially since you have to have twice the required space to install something (ie a 5GB install needs 10GB of space). You would probably be better off getting a used one. My old fat 40GB PS3 died about a month ago so I got a 250GB super slim for about $150 used. Or there is a new bundle coming out next month that has a 250GB super slim, GTAV, headset, and PS+ trial membership that is pre-selling at Amazon for $270.
  18. I haven't had a chance to play too much yet, but superpowered Insurance Fraud is pretty awesome.
  19. Amazon told me it was in January a few weeks ago. Sure hope they were wrong Also, for those not aware, Sony has released a *12* gig version of their PS3. Yeah, I don't get it either. I would assume that maybe they're going for of a casual crowd that maybe just wants to use a PS3 for a Blu-ray/Netflix player and a game or two but 12 GB is really puny. Even if you're not going to be downloading anything, 12GB is only enough room to have one game installed at a time, and that's if it's not more than 5GB. Some newer games like GTAV have 8GB installs. If you got something like the newest CoD you probably wouldn't have enough room for the game install and DLC. Plus there's a new bundle coming out next month that has a 250GB HD, headset, and GTAV for $299, so this release makes even less sense.
  20. Picked up House of the Dead Overkill on my phone. It's a pretty good translation, though I do miss the cheesy voiceovers and cutscenes from the Wii version. It also sucks that you have to pay another 2 bucks to get the last level.
  21. Played around with the Inaguration Station. The Nolan North voice is fun, but I will have to go with the Aussie voice for old times' sake. And you can get a fucking Boba Fett outfit. I wish they had released this a bit earlier. I don't get much time to play games nowadays so I hope I can get through it before GTAV hits.
  22. I have a pretty long commute on the bus to/from work so I end up playing a good amount of games on my phone. I'm currently going through Max Payne and GTA3. Both are pretty solid conversions from their big brother cousins, though the driving on GTA did take some getting used to with the touch screen. On PS3, I finished Aliens: Colonial Marines. The ending sucked; it's one of those shitty "play the DLC to see the real ending" ones. Also the re-introduction of a character from the original film didn't make any sense. Overall a decent game though. I'm still playing online a bit here and there. Downloaded Tekken Revolution. For a free to play game, it's surprisingly full featured, though there are some REALLY scrubby players oonline, but that's par for the course for any online fighter I guess. I don't think the whole token system will really affect me much as I'm not one to play fighting games for hours on end anyway. Played through the demo of Far Cry: Blood Dragon. It's cool but I will probably wait until it goes on sale to pick it up.
  23. I'm about halfway through the single player and it's not bad. Yeah, it's a little underwhelming but the reviews I read made this seem like it would be a terrible game. I've certainly played a lot worse FPS games. The multiplayer is pretty solid too, though there are not a whole lot of people playing it so it does take a while to find matches sometimes.
  24. They took off The Blood to put on a hipster channel.
