  1. I guess the reason people were getting knocked off of PSN last night is because there is a new patch up. It caps any hosiptal bills at $500 but now if you replay missions, you only get half of the original payout. Also (this is unconfirmed) everyone in a mission has to be at the minimum level. So if you're level 10 and you're trying to play a mission that is minimum level 25, even if you're invited to it, no dice.
  2. Many of the people with a shit-ton of money have gotten it through cheating (hacking the save game file) or exploiting the fact that if you end the mission in a vehicle, you will have it when you go back to free roam and can sell it at Los Santos Customs. If the vehicle has been modded, it can make it worth a lot of money, like $50-100K. Also before the game was patched, you could replay missions after you completed them. So there were people grinding jobs like VIolent Duct, where you could get $9000 in a couple of minutes. Even without the replay option, some of the higher level jobs give out a lot of cash. People will trade wins in races. You can make about $7-8K for winning some of them for 2-3 minutes of work. Survival mode is a good cash maker, at least if you have a group of people that know what they're doing. For some quick petty cash, I rob stores. From my garage in Sandy Shores, I have 3 stores that are close by, which nets around $4-6K, and it is easy to escape the cops just by driving to the desert and hiding or grabbing a helicopter from the airfield.
  3. Figured this might be handy as it will be a good time to get deals on current gen hardware/games with the new systems coming out. Gamestop's ad linked here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=699442 Highlights: $200 250GB PS3 w/ The Last of Us and Batman: Arkham Origins $200 250GB 360 w/ Tomb Raider and Halo 4 $30 Battlefield 4 (PS3/360) $30 1 year of PS Plus B2G1 on used games/accesories I used to work retail, so I generally avoid Black Friday like the plague, but there is a Gamestop right by where I get off the bus and that $30 for a year of PS Plus looks pretty tempting.
  4. My suggestion for increasing your flying skill would be to use the helicopter. The skill is based on how long you are in the air, so you can basically hover and still increase it. Once it goes up even one bar, I found the planes a lot easier to handle. I can now usually do pretty decently in air races. Land races are pretty much fucked now, at least in open races. There are way too many people with maxed out cars which they got through modding/hacking to raise their levels up and exploiting the personal vehicle resell to get a ton of cash. There was a guy in a race that had a level of 999. There are also a frustrating number of retards who intentionally try to fuck up races by going the wrong way, blocking up traffic, etc. I tried a few races last night and I ended up quitting all of them, which I never did before. The servers seemed wonky to me, so I didn't really bother to play too much after that. For instance, I was playing with Cristobal and my guy just all of a sudden went into the city map cloud view and hung there for a few minutes. I did manage to squeak to level 18 - which raised my lung capacity for some reason. I was buying some upgraded gear at Ammunation when I got booted because PSN lost its connection or whatever. I hope that didn't mess with my save file at all.
  5. Just curious, why are you still friends with your ex on Facebook? Also, I work in banking, you or your mom should get power of attorney over your grandfather's assets before your ex tries to do so. I've dealt with a lot of messy cases where the caregiver tries to claim authority over the person's assets.
  6. The mask glitch is pretty well known. A version of it happens in single player, you won't be bald, but it will go back to the character's default hairstyle. I'm not sure about the server issue, but I've never been able to join one of my non-crew friends games. I always get that server error. FYI, cash sharing has been disabled because there are people exploiting the fact that you can dupe cars and sell them to Los Santos Customs for quick cash. So there will probably be another patch coming soon.
  7. It is odd that you can't work out at Vespucci Beach, especially since when you switch to Franklin he will be doing exactly that. If you are out in Sandy Shores, usually the skinny guys hanging out in front of the liquor stores can take a few punches before going down. I assume they're supposed to be methed up.
  8. I've never experienced lag in GTAV. I would suspect with V being out IV isn't using as good as servers now.
  9. I changed it. I hope I got an okay shade because I'm partially color blind and I am having to use my phone to navigate the Social Club site, which is kind of a pain. It will probably take a day or so to update in game.
  10. I'm sorry but I hate the Wendy's lady commercials. Comes off like a nosy know it all. And she seems like a bit of a whore. Too many male "friends".
  11. For 60+ people, I don't really think that's doable. It's not like we can share properties anyway since the person who owns it has to be inside to let anyone in. Also the Social Club uses different handles than PSN/Live, which are also most times different from our names here. I usually just try and add people to my PSN friends list after I play with them.
  12. You can do races by yourself. It won't get you cash but it will raise your driving and give you RP. The bike races are good for stamina. Otherwise you can just quick job races. Unless you don't finish, you should come away with around a grand even if you finish last. I don't think there are any animals online. My garage is in Sandy Shores and I've never seen any. Golf and tennis both kind of bore me at this point, so I took to getting in fights with construction workers. They're pretty tough and take like 5 or 6 hits to go down rather than the 1 or 2 most NPCs take, and it is easy to hide form the cops if/when they are called.
  13. My game froze on the tail end of a long single player mission. So I went into online and upgraded my Sabre Turbo in order to go on a robbery spree. it is annoying how helicopters tend to not be in their spawn points during missions, especially as I live in Sandy Shores so no chopper equals a long drive to the mission markers.
  14. That's what it kept telling me when I tried to buy it online, and when I went up to the apartment itself. When was this? Maybe it'll work today if I try it. Kind of an obvious question, but are you carrying cash in hand or in the bank? You have to have enough in your bank account to buy the property.
  15. It will try to put you into what the crew member is doing - but they either need to be in free roam or in a lobby. If they are actively doing something like a race or mission, the game will put you in an open session. Probably the best thing to do (unless you really like free roaming with random people) is to start a closed crew session. That way people will be able to jump into your session or you can get invites from them to join their jobs. If you get bored of going around the city by yourself, you can hop into missions, races, etc through "quick job" on your phone. I personally almost never go into open sessions now besides maybe trying to get the occasional car for Simeon, there is just an appalling amount of kids (like real little kids) on there and I can't stand listening to them trying to act like tough guys on the mic.
  16. I would just do an open game to get through the tutorial.
  17. I think it's after your first job for Lamar and he hands the drugs to Gerald.
  18. The Capcom Arcade Cabinet lets you tweak all the settings so you can make the games pretty easy if you want. You do have to play them at the default settings if you want to upload your scores or go for trophies. It's a pretty solid collection overall though. I would have preferred some post-1987 games like Forgotten Worlds and Strider in there, but I guess they can always make a part 2.
  19. Infernus is my favorite car as well. But the handling on all the vehicles will get better as you play more. I'm getting pretty decent at flying. I got 2nd in a couple of races with the prop planes, and doing Top Fun has gotten me better at jets. I've come to the decision that Survival mode bores the shit out of me.
  20. http://prod.cloud.rockstargames.com/ugc/gta5photo/0854/MuCqC9JsmUKrWX0U6rdhzQ/0_0.jpg picture of the chopper. I've been there a few times and it's always there. It is available for anyone to take, but hardly anyone goes outside of the city.
  21. There is an airfield in Sandy Shores that has a helipad and hangar that have vehicles you can steal.
  22. If you hit the gas right before Go comes up you get a speed boost. I did a helicopter death match, that wad pretty fun. I sold off my crappy garage in the city and bought a crappy one in Sandy Shores. It's right by the airfield so I can get a helicopter and plane. on the single player side, I finished the mandatory "homage to Heat" mission that's been in every game since VC. Good times.
  23. I saw the premiere episode. It should have been on HBO where you could see Tony Shaloub doing lines of blow off of a college coed's ass, not watered-down neutered for network TV stuff.
  24. Is there a property with a helipad? I'm thinking I'll buy an apartment in the city and then one out in Sandy Shores, maybe a decent car if I have anything left over.
  25. Well, it looks like everyone will have a nice apartment soon. I can already hear the cries of "not fair!" raining out. That's the one me and Cristobal were trying the other night. Even though I don't have a headset, we did manage to steal the chopper, land it at Lester's and kill the mercenaries. It was the helicopter that got us a couple of times because neither of us had heavy artillery.
