  1. To be fair, I haven't read the issue and am way behind on IM, so I haven't read the setup either.
  2. Hope not. May/Ming-na Wen looks great for 50. She can do better, Didn't like the episode as much as some, but it was ok. I had decided to cut the show from the DVR list, then decided to watch it on a lark. I'll tune in next week. Don't have much long-term interest in the show, though. Things I like about the show are Clark Gregg getting a chance to be the lead, and the aforementioned Ming-na Wen thing. I'm indifferent to everything and everyone else about the show. Honestly, I wonder how many viewers would care if they killed off every single character next week and essentially put out a completely recast, revamped pilot ep the week after that.
  3. Ugh. Just read an AP article about Iron Man. Apparently, Tony Stark... And Howard and Maria Stark... Did I mention "Ugh"? I can't emphasize that enough. I like Gillen well enough, but this seems dumb. I doubt it will stick, but it can't be retconned away fast enough. Link to article (warning: spoilers) http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/entertainment/20131023/US-Iron-Man_s-Secret/
  4. Forgot about that. I want to meet the attorney that thinks "Big guy ate the physical contract" is legal justification for voiding the terms of a binding agreement.
  5. For a sec, I wondered when Bad News Brown was part of Nexus, Then I remembered they added someone for the Corre. What is big Zeke up to these days, anyway? Forming a tag team with Evan Bourne called "Guys the Company Will Never Use Again, But Doesn't Want to See in TNA?"
  6. He ate the contract on a Nitro episode prior to the PPV (and the contract still made it to the PPV. Okay....)

It'll make more sense when Carrie takes off her makeup and reveals.... she's actually JACK BAUER! IN DISGUISE! AND SHE TYPES ALL EMAIL IN CAPS FOR NO REASON! DIDN'T SEE THAT LAST PART COMING, DID YOU? This. The system should defeat her fairly quickly, so I was kinda dreading the implausible plot twists they'd probably have thrown in to keep things interesting, I don't love the new direction, but it's ok. The stuff with the kids needs to go away. They seem to have repeated 24's issue of keeping people only tangentially connected to the main plot on the payroll - then struggling to find a storyline for them in order to justify the salary expense. My wife summed up the teen-boyfriend-is-a-murderer thing by saying "I guess the cougar is busy?".
  8. So Mark Henry, Mark Canterbury and The Undertaker are going to rule the planet? Doesn't Mark Henry already rule the planet? And. if he does not, why should I pay my air bill?
  9. So wait, is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'm getting mixed messages. Depends on what the alternative is. If the alternative is flippy indy wresters inheriting the planet, or a cult that worships Vince Russo, then, yeah, let the marks have it.
  10. Holy shit, that gave me goosebumps. Same. And i'm not even much of a DW fan. Also, a mod needs to alter board settings so that Big McLargehuge never changes his sig. Good lord, that is greatness.
  11. That makes sense, because Blair Underwood was either giving a nuanced performance parodying other cop show leads, or he mistakenly thought he'd been cast in a 70's blaxploitation film.
  12. Nope, it's not just you. The Imperial Guard has rhythm. Who knew?
  13. Yep. square driver AKA Steiner Screwdriver. When I was a regular at PWG shows years ago (early days), I used to wonder which was the worse bet for your health: taking the screwdriver from Steiner, or a smallish indy guy like Chris Bosh?
  14. If you like weird-ish genre shows, Sleepy Hollow isn't a bad bet. Writing is fairly good, decent cast. and it's got a good, creepy look. Seems to be getting better as it unfolds, so I'm hoping it sticks around for awhile. It;s probably my favorite new show, though that says more about the lack of good new shows than it does about the relative quality of Sleepy Hollow (scarily, I think I've watched every new show except the CW shows and maybe Trophy Wife on ABC and lived very few of them). Really liked last night's episode of Elementary, btw. Great outing.
  15. Particularly in cases like this, when the other half of the argument is "he had good matches with good workers, so the other guys are all good workers and he is not".
  16. Man, how is John Cena not the obvious answer to this question? Poop jokes aside, Cena's a 80's Hulk Hogan-esque pure babyface in an era when people have become used to tweener, antihero-ish babyfaces and cool heels. Cena would probably be received a lot better in the 198o's, both from a character standpoint and workrate. I wouldn't necessarily want to see him in 1980's WWE - there would be really small pool of good workers to program him with, and you'd still have Warrior & Hogan at the top of the card to make sure no one new got over too much. If I had to pick, I'd put Cena in early 1990's WCW (1991-1993). Program him with the same group Sting worked and you'd get some great matches/feuds. 2007-ish Cena vs. 1992 Rick Rude would be outstanding.
  17. Agreed. Which is ironic because, in real life, he'd be too much of a dim bulb to accomplish much. At this point, I think of Jax as Water White on steroids (figuratively speaking). Not as smart or sophisticated as he thinks he is, he ends up in situations that spin out of control but still turn out in his favor due largely to sheer luck. Honestly, why Sutter hasn't killed almost everyone and renamed the show "Clay!" is beyond me. They wouldn't even need scripts. Just film documentary style and follow Perlman around as he does awesome Perlman-like things.
  18. I get the impression he's the one to hook me up with an ice cream cone.
  19. USA and TNT break up most of their dramas into two runs during the year. USA generally gives 16 episode orders to shows like White Collar and Burn Notice, then runs a summer/winter season and breaks the episodes up into two 8-episode runs. They don't do this with every show. Covert Affairs runs its entire season in consecutive weeks, except for a four week break in late Sept/October. Royal Pains only runs during the summer. TNT gives its more popular shows (Closer/Major Crimes/Rizzoli & Isles, etc.) 15 episode orders. They run 10 or 11 episodes during the summer, then air a short "season" of 4 or 5 episodes in December.
  20. Hostages is on CBS, not ABC. I assume it's a short season because (A) it's hard to extend the concept 22 episodes; and ( Toni Collette is reportedly not interested in being tied up to a full season work schedule (since she can take movie roles and what-not instead).
  21. Speaking of Sleepy Hollow, what do other people think of it? I think I liked it more when it was called "Alcatraz", but it's starting to grow on me. Can't see it getting a wide audience, though. And setting up the show to run at least seven seasons (in the pilot, there's talk of a seven year war with the forces of darkness) seems like wishful thinking. Watched Once Upon a Time in Wonderland this morning and liked it very much. Also been enjoying Once Upon a Time. I watched most of season 1, but wasn't really that interested and fell away from watching for... no particular reason. Just missed an episode and realized I didn't miss it. Started watching again late last season and have liked what I've seen lately. Jed Whedon really needs to watch both shows and take notes. Agents of SHIELD could do with more of a sense of wonder/high adventure (not to mention well-drawn characters).
  22. Should I have seen much of American Horror Story to follow the new season? I know each season has a somewhat different cast and new elements, so are the seasons basically self-contained? I watched the first couple episodes of season 1, thought it was mostly ridiculous, and haven't watched since. Thinking of giving the new season a try. Can I pick up what I need to know, or does it rely on being up to speed with last season?
  23. I don't remember her turning back into Rita either. Can't find anything online that suggests that happened prior to the X-Force NOW book. Speaking of X books, I'm actually caught up on most of the X-Line. Honestly, the writers they've had on the books the past few years generally smokes any prior period in X history (though you can say that about a lot of the Marvel line these days). Not sure this is the strongest the X-line has ever been (I liked the Gillen/Fraction/Rememder years from just before the NOW reboot quite a bit too), but it's very good right now. I've quite liked what Bendis has done with the titles and All-New X-Men is probably my favorite book right now. Battle of the Atom is really killing it for me right now. Anyone else keeping up with the Avenger books? I'm really lukewarm on Hickman, and have kinda lost interest in Infinity/the Avengers/New Avengers.
