You know another guy whose long-term deal has worked out better than I expected? Matt Holliday. Last year was his worst as a Cardinal, and he still hit .272/.370/.441 with 20 homers.

Through four seasons, the Werth deal has actually worked out pretty well...which I don't think a lot of people (myself included) realize. Yeah he missed half of 2012, but even with that, he's racked up 12.3 fWAR and hit .282/.375/.452 with 66 homers and 46 steals. Of course, he'll make $63 million over the last three seasons, and they'll determine whether or not it's a bust or not.

Nats have no significant money on the book past 2016 aside from Werth, Zimmerman, and Gio's options. Signing Scherzer extends their window by at least another year. They could do a lot worse when it comes to dedicating significant money to starters. And make of this what you will - JZ threw his fastball at a higher velo than Scherzer in each of the last two years, and did it more often too. Only starters to throw their FB more often in 2014 - Colon, Lynn, Miller. Also, Milwaukee is very close on a deal that would send Yovani Gallardo to Texas.

I made a quiche for the first time today. Figured it would be easy, healthy, and tasty. All three were true. Prep took maybe five minutes. Didn't go too crazy with filling, just kale and cheese. Only about 400 calories in a quarter of it, which means that the girlfriend and myself only ate 800 calories in total for lunch and dinner. Can't wait to play around and do another one since the frozen pie crusts are two in a pack. Any recommendations?

I gotta say...Oakland's offseason makes sense as more and more pieces fall into place. Still think the return on Donaldson was light, but Lawrie, Zobrist, and Escobar are all better than the middle infielders the A's rolled out last year. Throw in the versatility of Zobrist and Semien, and Bob Melvin's gonna have some fun. Btw, the return for Tampa was John Jaso, Daniel Robertson, and Boog Powell (don't think there's a relation given the age difference).
