  1. Did they? I didn't realize that. That gives Eddie a lot more options if they want to do the come-from-behind victory.
  2. I thought the tiebreaker was who won the match between the wrestlers in question, but I don't remember if that was specifically stated for the Continental Classic or if it's something I absorbed about round-robin tournaments in general. But if I'm right, now that Brody and Danielson have each beaten Eddie, he'll need to finish with MORE points than either to make the finals.
  3. I believe Abadon uses "they" pronouns. (And it sounded like somebody clued Tony Schiavone in mid-match, as he switched from using "she" to "they".) And I don't know. The mist having the opposite effect on Abadon would be pretty funny. You're probably right that it would be a bad idea for the character in the long run, though.
  4. My understanding is that the winners of each round-robin face off at Worlds End. I could be misinformed, of course.
  5. It's very hard. For example, if Brody wins another match Eddie is finished. If Danielson wins two more matches Eddie is finished.
  6. That reminds me - last week, why didn't Lady Frost make her stip "Ice powers are legal"? She would have won easily.
  7. That sounds okay to me - my favourite issues of the Lee/Ditko era were Spidey fighting a small army of ordinary mooks, so I'm down with a game that encourages you to recreate those scenes.
  8. Wait - good or bad? Do we need to put Shida in some sort of stasis pod to keep our windows unbricked?
  9. On the other hand, one of my first thoughts after watching Westworld season one was "That was a lot better than Fallout 4". So I'm intrigued by the idea of that show's creator doing a Fallout show. Probably not intrigued enough to sign up for Amazon Prime, though.
  10. That would be kind of unprecedented, wouldn't it? I mean, it's not like Tony Khan's decision-making has ever been flawless. But he typically only shows judgement that poor when he's on Twitter.
  11. Random kvetch before next week's thread starts: why were all the commentators referring to Luchasaurus as "Killswitch" on Saturday? Nigel, sure, he's a heel. But why would the face commentators comply with Christian's dictate?
  12. I'm playing through as a manipulative psychopath now, and it appears there's no way to crush Donna Rain's spirit. This will likely please many of you.
  13. Time for some even-less-relevant-than-usual fantasy booking! Wrestling bookers are pretty addicted to dramatic come-from-behind wins. So the odds are pretty decent that the eventual winner is going to be somebody who lost their first match. That being said, I'd say Eddie is the most likely winner at this point. So how does he get there? My initial thought was that Eddie wins the rest of his matches, with the final match of Blue League being against a 4-0 Danielson. Eddie ekes out the win to cinch the Blue spot in the finals. Over in Gold League, Mox can be Mox and go 5-0, giving us Eddie vs Mox in the final. A shit ton of history there. What makes my fantasy booking completely irrelevant, of course, is that, as somebody in the other thread reminded me, they've already announced Kingston vs Danielson for next week. So... maybe the same story, but slot Claudio in as the 4-0 guy Eddie faces last? They've referenced Eddie hating Claudio a lot, but I don't think they've actually had a one-on-one match in AEW yet.
  14. It's an upset if you assume the guy with the bigger fan reactions is the favourite, because Eddie is way over. But if you look at how they've been booked - yeah, not really an upset.
  15. I would lump the Elimination Chamber in with the Royal Rumble as making more sense as an annual event. I mean, how often do you have six people who all hate each other enough to merit a cage match? That would be a big web of hate.
  16. I agree, but to repeat a frequent complaint: War Games and Hell in a Cell shouldn't be gimmick PPVs. They should pop up when a storyline calls for them. Then just make sure the men and women get about the same number in the long run and you're fine.
  17. Wizards of the Coast famously patented tapping cards. No idea whether the patent stuck.
  18. Well yeah. Anybody would pop for that. All jokes aside, I think it's pretty clear the point of the bullshit name change is to put even more heel heat on Christian. And the crowd was chanting "Luchasaurus", showing that anticipation was already building for him to turn on Christian and get his name back.
  19. Well I mean - you can get away with anything if you're Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Except renaming Luchasaurus, of course.
  20. You can't list eight different potential matches and call it "the most likely final".:)
  21. How the heck can they rename Luchasaurus? Luchasaurus is a God-damn dinosaur who knows lucha libre! What exactly is "Killswitch"?
  22. So I guess Gold League is on Dynamite and Blue League is on Collision? Have they confirmed that?
  23. Just to get my petty bullshit out of the way: Eddie actually said he'd put his titles on the line each match. He then segued to talking about a new triple crown, which the announcers picked up on. But the two titles being on the line whenever the current champ has a tournament match doesn't guarantee the ultimate tourney winner will wind up with them! It would in a single-elim tournament, obviously, but not in a round robin variant. (E.g., Eddie wins his first four matches, then loses his final match to somebody whose overall record isn't good enough to make the finals. Per what Eddie said, that guy is now the ROH Champion and the Whatever Champion, not the ultimate tournament winner.) Of course, given the announcers carried on the "new triple crown" talk, they pretty much have to deliver on that. I'm just mildly curious whether they'll just ignore Eddie's exact words and crown the winner the triple crown champion, or actually restrict themselves to booking the tournament in such a way that the winner winds up with the belts while sticking to what Eddie said. Or maybe some heel will get a cheap win over Eddie in the first round, then announce he's withdrawing from the tournament and taking Eddie's titles with him. That would be pretty funny.
  24. Sorry Matt. Based on that write-up, you're not even mildly eccentric. And I don't pay much attention to reactions anywhere but here. Are there really that many people who preferred the Texas death match to the main event last night? I realize opinions are subjective and all, but I still find that hard to fathom.
