  1. There's hopefully new/fresh things left to do, although the demographics on the people liking that new fresh stuff may differ from people who pine for the 90s
  2. he's happy on the inside, that's all that really matters
  3. well, I could see the Browns ownership falling for the "Jim Schwartz made the lowly Lions relevant" sales pitch
  4. i'm still waiting for Sim Bhullar's WWE debut. 7'5" of Punjabi descent from Canada. But right now he's in his 2nd year at New Mexico State
  5. why do I have the sense that the Browns are gonna hire Jim Schwartz?
  6. didn't TNA start just randomly blading people more than usual around the time the WWE banned blading? did they ever go through a "WWE banned unprotected chair shots? we should do lots of unprotected chair shots" phase too?
  7. My school is D2 (University of Central Missouri), but they helpfully list all of their guys in the pros, not NBA pros, any pros. So here's where their pros played in unnamed and in alphabetical order) One guy who spent a year in Greece. A CBA player. A guy who played in Germany and Sweden. Another guy who played in Germany. Three guys who played in the PBLA in 1948. A guy who played in Tunisia (in 2010) and the Czech Republic. One guy who has played in France, Turkey, Poland, Germany and Poland over 7 years. A USBL guy. A guy who played in Romania (one year at a football game, one of the graduated basketball guys was unable to attend since he was "playing basketball in Romania"). A guy who played in the BAA. Two more guys who played in Germany. A Battle Creek Knights player. Two more Germany guys. A guy who played in France. A guy who has played in Germany, France, Greece and Germany, and another player for the Battle Creek Knights. Still with me? Gotta wonder what the scouting process is like for German pro basketball teams where they wind up deciding to sign guys who played Division II basketball. Do they just go to Springfield, MA for the Final Four and start making a list of dudes who play basketball like Germans?
  8. Nash told a story on one of his shoots about doing exactly that with Yokozuna as an eff you to Bill Watts. And because the cage took forever and a week to construct. although if Diesel had any cage matches planned with Yokozuna, HistoryOfWWE doesn't mention them. The 1min Diesel/Yokozuna match did take place on a Superstars taping in September 1995 and Nash worked Yoko in October 1995
  9. it's the second time in the last few weeks where they taped out of chronological order (12/23 Raw was taped on 12/17, 12/20 Smackdown was taped on 12/18). So they've done two variations of taping out of order due to Christmas/New Years being on a Wednesday. As for "Mark Henry can avoid the attack due to the warning from Big E".... that just made me think of someone doing an astrology gimmick. I think that might be a bit too over the heads of the 11 year olds to have a fortune teller wrestling Let's not. yeah, well, you're kinda wasting your psychic powers if you use them on 1995 Paul Orndorff. Although Spivey probably helped inform Orndorff about Vader's devious plans to attack him. I'm just going to pretend that the Dungeon of Doom wiped out Spivey and put him out of wrestling. But yeah, with the Undertaker showing up 3 times a year and Kane in a random non-darkside phase, the door is wide open for a shitty occult gimmick. Although I can see a hole in the concept of a wrestler claiming psychic powers, since he can't take any offense without exposing his bullshit psychic powers as bullshit

  11. Also gonna cast votes for a] the Dump Matsumoto victory strut at the end of Dump/Nagayo Hair v. Hair [the match is cut into 3 pieces since it was uploaded back in the old days of YouTube when people couldn't upload 9 hour long videos of every title defense by specific NOAH champions]. I randomly watched that and this Dump v. Jaguar Yokota match, and the whole Dump character I've seen is amazing. Not sure if I should get the impression that leather-bound knife-wielding giant schoolgirls were a consistent enemy of the AJW fanbase in 1985. But it's a pretty solid culture clash in a feud? someone can figure out which clashes were actually part of interesting feuds or what b] Jerry Lawler v. Snowman, Redneck UWFI. I'm sure elements of this just happen these days in non-match brawls, but it'd be a little more interesting if people who were in a feud would just fight like they're in an alley angling to pick up the bottle from the ground to hit the other guy. I'm guessing one of these Japanese feds that buy light tubes in bulk have done some work with a beer bottles death match. So in all honesty, there's lots of stuff on the YouTube, and it's cold outside Heck, what's the best wrestling thing (that exists on film), which ISN'T on YouTube? something that has been DMCAed off of YouTube and not reuploaded yet? something that's in some dude's garage in a bucket of VHS tapes?
  12. Confederate Crunch has to be Hamrick, right? or did they do two Confederate Gimmicks with one being Confederate Currency Chris Hamrick (with Kid Kash) So ECW crumbled about 6 months before an East Coast indy explosion of guys who could have been part of the fed, IIRC. Although I don't recall how much of that explosion was due to ECW dissolving and the American Wrestling universe being WWF/Everything else in 2001/half of 2002
  13. Live feed of the Chiefs game today
  14. Ok guys.. Anticristo is gonna clean house here soon enough if this keeps up
  15. if it makes you feel any better, i'm 100% sure that's not Sid. No blue-check mark followers at all (and in fact, he has like 1100 followers). There have been multiple fake Sid accounts that got noticed by D-Grade websites for randomly bashing WWE Divas or other such things. Also, this account started in 2011, and Sid's son was saying his dad didn't have a Twitter in 2012 after one of those other fake account eruptions
  16. although to be fair, he hit 110 in a 70 in Alligator Alley, where the average driver is going 84 in a 70. I've never really felt comfortable going much over 75mph, but going in a straight line for 78 miles with 2 offramps is always a tempting target for speeding. He found up getting off of 97 in a 50 with community service (remember when he was with those kids in little league games?). So I'd imagine he'll do the same again here
  17. upon further thought, not sure i'd call 1995 WCW Saturday Night a C-Show, but I suspect the convo for this match went like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ez1R0msdyTc "Let's have JL face Lex Luger for 8 minutes" "But JL has been a job guy, that'd make Luger look a bit too weak" "Ok, let's have Jerry Lynn face Lex Luger for 8 minutes and we'll pretend it's Lynn's debut in WCW" "Excellent!"
  18. Melky Mesa signed by the Royals to a minor league deal. Which means KC could be one of two teams to employ every Melky in baseball history
  19. I thought the first two times were Malia Hosaka randomly jobbing to Meiko Satomura. Or are we up to 5 Malia Hosaka matches in this thread? Then again, I didn't realize until the Starla match that Malia Hosaka isn't from Japan (she's Japanese-American from Hawaii though). Wrestling's pipeline of Hawaiians pretending to be from Japan/etc has dried up. Maybe having a Hawaiian indy fed is a giant pain in the ass since you'd have to probably buy the plane tickets for the non-Hawaiians working on a card. Or the state also regulates the stuff too much too?
  20. inspired by the DVD sales talks... I wonder if they kept any stats for the sales of the random Coliseum stuff they released, or how much of their distribution was through video rentals. Would also ask if they count rentals in the DVD sales talk and if that skews any different directions. Pretty sure they don't have as many 7 hour long tapings to provide for Coliseum-esque DVD releases of random matches. But they could do that by just releasing random matches from the past. Or maybe have current superstars pick matches from the past as the theme of the DVD
  21. inspired to post this again (it was posted on the old board a long time ago) by the tales of grandmas going wild at wrestling events
  22. Mysterion looks like he could be Samoa Joe's long haired brother. Also, is he wearing an oversized furry coat or is he working a yeti gimmick? Maybe Mysterion is working an 1980s British New Wave band gimmick
  23. in other news, the mid-point between Hulk Hogan returning to the WWF and today is Bill Goldberg losing to Kevin Nash
  24. So in the spirit of the lumberjack look, the finisher might be the Big Josh Log Roll, or the Garvin Stomp?
