  1. I'm sure Curtis Axel is so happy right now that "Michael McGillicutty" is just completely unchantable.
  2. How about a movie with likable characters, character development and a competent story structure at the very least? How about a Superman movie in which the entire city does not get destroyed and thousands of people die, a lot of which was actually caused by Superman himself? As for not being able to enjoy a Superman movie under any circumstance: I was never a big fan of Superman Returns, but in comparison to this movie Superman Returns is a masterpiece.
  3. Couldn't you say the "E-C-Dub" chants were an early precursor to this phenomenon of fans chanting something to show how smart they are and remember someone from a different context? Every single guy that had a cup of coffee in ECW received E-C-Dub chants, when they had a match in the WWE in the 2000s.
  4. I never saw what people wrote in the original thread, because I just saw the movie last week after the board was already down and I never visited the thread before to avoid spoilers. There was only one scene in the entire movie that I liked and that was when Superman flew up into space for the first time and the giant planet earth was in the background. I think they took that imagery from an Alex Ross drawing. Everything else about this movie absolutely sucked. This is now one of my least favorite superhero adaptions of the 2000s. I think I would rank the Ang Lee Hulk, the two Fantastic Four movies and X-Men Origins: Wolverine lower, but that's about it. I would really like to know what Fowler thought about this one.
  5. Man, I really wanted to come on here last week and rage about how godawful Man of Steel was. I was already a bit cautious after it did so poorly on Rotten Tomatoes, but never did I imagine it would be this terrible.
  6. It probably means I'm on the same intellectual level as Balls Mahoney. Or maybe I was just thinking of that episode of the Simpsons, in which Mr. Burns gets booed and he asks Smithers, if they are chanting Boo-urns.
  7. When the board was down, I had this idea of a wrestler named Boo that was a megaface and fans would cheer for him with loud "Boo Boo Boo" chants. I was mostly staring at a blank screen while constantly clicking refresh, while the board was down.
  8. Yeah, I think it would really diminish the impact of that ending, if they made a sequel. I would probably be down with a sequel that focused on a couple of completely different characters in another part of the world.
  9. Or they could repackage Hornswoggle and have him play the banjo.
  10. Now that one is very pleasing to the eyes!
  11. I don't even know current sports teams, so I went with option B. I just looked through a list of defunct wrestling championships and I think my favorite so far is the "i-Generation Australasian Championship", which was held by One Man Gang and Tatanka.
  12. Speaking of Vertigo, I was really excited, when they announced six new titles a couple of days ago, but then I was immediately disappointed again, when I read the descriptions and none of them struck me as particularly interesting. Oh well, maybe there's a sleeper hit in there.
  13. I'm currently rereading 100 Bullets and am just reminded how great this series was. For some complicated reason I only read the first 36 issues, when it was originally published. So now I've finally decided to read the rest of the series in the form of those glorious deluxe editions they just recently put out. Volume 3 amazingly even starts at #37, so I don't even have any overlap. Man, this series really holds up extremely well, and I think it's even better, when you read it in one continuous flow. I'm noticing a lot of stuff, that I'm sure just flew by me, when I read it the first time.
  14. I don't think I liked Kelley Jones, when I was younger, but I've grown to love him. What about Bernie Wrightson?
  15. Those people are sneaking across our border and taking our jobs!
  16. You could have read the full review with pictures on his blog.
  17. Um... I still hate the very idea of the New 52. I still want to know #WhereIsWallyWest. Man, DC just breaks my heart. But would you really be content, if they brought him back? It wouldn't even be the real Wally West, it would be just some guy named Wally West.
  18. They are not shitting on the gimmick. They just want the whole world to know they are smart and know things.
  19. Thanks, I think I've already seen that second picture somewhere, but I thought that was from last year. Here are some of the past staredowns for comparison:
  20. I'm on my second playthrough of The Last of US. I would like to know if Tabe's opinion changed after advancing further into the game. I thought all the praise the game was receiving was mostly warranted. I think this will definitely still be my GOTY by the end of the year. I'm still not sure how to feel about the ending, but I think almost everyone feels this way after finishing the game.
  21. Does anyone have any photos of this year's staredown between Chris Jericho and Yoshihiro Takayama? This is one of my favorite annual things in pro-wrestling. I've heard KENTA was involved this year as well.
  22. I always wanted to get rid of this godawful username I registered myself with on this board 10 years ago. I was thinking about going with "The Z-Man", but that would have probably been even worse and I don't want to besmirch the good name of Tom Zenk. Now I just added a space between The and Z. Oh well, maybe next time.
  23. Do you listen to the "Analyze Phish" podcast on Earwolf? If not, you should do so. If yes, you might not know that episode 7 was finally released a few days ago. Nathan Rabin was a guest.
