  1. That goes back to a point someone made about Zack Ryder winning a title for the sake of making a WrestleMania moment. Watching it as it happened was cool seeing Seth Rollins cash in but Roman was hurt by not beat Brock one on one in one of the best matches ever imo. Speaking of Roman, he was on Fox earlier giving his SuperBowl predictions and he showed so much personality and natural charisma that he barely he wasn't allowed to show when he was first being pushed. He gets to show it more now it's just that he gets saddled with stupid angles like the deal with Bryan and Rowan or the Dog food stuff with Corbin that is embarrassing if you did want more of the foxsports audience to crossover. I think Reigns is the Perfect representative for the company especially when intermingling with the Sports world. It's too bad he's booked like '95 Bret Hart when he was feuding with Yankeem and the Pirate. He was having great matches but he was stuck in silly programs that's hard to take seriously
  2. If its true that Austin's original opponent for WM 13 was supposed to Bulldog if Michaels didn't lose his smile then that means they didn't think Austin could main event a Wrestle Mania at that time. According to legend he wasn't supposed to win the Royal Rumble that year. I dont think Bret or Taker or Michaels wouldve took a clean fall to him until they knew Vince was going to go all the way with him at that point. Alot of his rise was just things falling on creatives laps including the 96 KOTR and even then he wasn't pushed like they make it seem.
  3. I heard alot of people say that AEW isn't that much different than WWE has been over the past 2 decades. People say they have too much talking segments and silly gimmicks and angles for their liking to really set them apart from WWE of them to really succeed love term. I think everyone should want them to succeed even if they aren't following it because it will hit home to WWE that they aren't the be all end all of Wrestling anymore. I want every Promotion to have success. Whether it's MLW or NWA or ROH. Its Amazing how a few more networks have expressed interest in Wrestling and you got Sinclair basically sitting on ROH. Its SBC was serious about Wrestling ROH could be far ahead of AEW several years before. I hope that Sinclair sees more potential with Wrestling since more interest from these networks is growing with Wrestling atleast right now. For that reason only we should all want these other promotions to deliver a great product and show them a potential market for Wrestling outside of WWE.
  4. That's been the mentality of Promoters and bookers for decades not just WWE. Cornette says it all the time, when Wrestling is hot you can get away with the stupidest things and when it's not its killing the business. Wrestling is the only business that can insult it's own fanbase and that's why it's where it's at right now but WWE isn't the first one. Like people say, they've got their money from the FOX deal and they haven't changed things up to increase their ratings. Now would be a good time with Wrestlemania season. I say forget AEW concentrate on Smackdown if I was them
  5. I thought he was a Redskins fan. Wasn't there talks of him buying The Jets, and The Vikings and even the Redskins at different points over the years. I though I remembered Bruce saying Vince hated them talking about sports in meetings not because he didn't like it but because he was to busy to keep up with it. I remember alot of topical NBA and College basketball references on the early 94 RAW. On another note, I seen a clip of Austin taking a Knockout punch from George Chuvalo on a Toronto house show. He sold it and rolled out the ring. Its crazy to think that early 97 he was still a chickenshit heel when he needed to be. The same in 01. Guys today wouldn't dare to be a backpedaling heel especial at the top of the card
  6. I was surprised when they mentioned live PPVs were going to be apart of the Network. I always felt like they were leaving money on the table and they'd probably the same amount of current subscribers if they had never decided to stream the PPVs. My coworker last time I checked still buys PPVs, I've been telling him for years about it, he's in his 60s and I don't think he wants to deal with all the technology. I've had the network since April 2014 outside of most of the Saudi shows and some of the house show specials I haven't missed a PPV I probably wouldve never spent money on a PPV but some people would rather not deal with the Network
  7. I agree but I saw Meltzer tell people Zack Sabre Jr is better, especially since Bryan himself said it as well, I've been watching his New Japan work I dont think he is Yet
  8. I understand some of crowd tired of them going back to Charlotte but it to a few years to win me over. She's the Brock of the Women's division, she's probably the most protected person overall beside Becky and Brock. She'll probably never be the smoothest in the ring but she delivers in big matches.
  9. I was surprised Morrison didn't do some crazy Rumble spot considering he was just as infamous for that as Kofi was before he was released but that bump he took for Brock was insane.
  10. I wasn't fully paying attention but was Asuka vs Becky worth watching? Last night with Drew was like Keith Lee at Survivor Series, they can still make a guy a top guy in one night.
  11. With NWA/WCW being a Turner company it could've happened decades ago but outside of Ted Turner himself they could care less about Wrestling. He could've been on the same level as Michael Jordan or Charles Barkley at least pop culture wise.
  12. I didn't see that RR when it happened but it got him and Golddust rehired. I watched it much later on but the next night on RAW he was used as a top guy he had a match with Austin. I was so happy to see him back in WWF with his Mr Perfect theme. He was made like a big deal that night and the next Smackdown then he was back on the mid card until he got released after the plane ride from hell. He was over, they even did vignettes of him again . It was surreal seeing him on equal footing with Angle and Austin and Hunter in that Rumble.
  13. I understand them wanting to finally get away from WWFs Polynesian stereotype gimmick but I wish they had come in as the Island Boys. I remember reading about them in the Apter mags during their HWA run. They didn't get to work together long enough on the Main Roster. Rosey was so over teaming with Hurricane. He was doing split legged moonsaults. We know Umaga was good probably the best of his family but Rosey was very good too.
  14. Forget podcasts and Shoot Interviews , I think the WWE network should do a Vince McMahon Watch along. Have a sit down and watch old PPV and comment on whatever he was thinking. Every month they pick an old PPV that would be dope.
  15. It took me a minute to realize Jordan Oliver was the same guy in Injustice. He came across as any early 2000s Jack Evan's when I first seen him in MLW. Going viral is getting him alot more work, he's gonna be really good in a few years he just need more experience. MLW in particular can give him experience working against guys he probably wouldn't be booked against in other Indies.
  16. The difference between Tessa and most other people in this situation is her peers aren't going to let the issue slide. I think WWE and even AEW would probably wait a year or so for the issue to die down then bring her in but certain people aren't going to let people forget. I don't think they should forget. Tessa is the top Wrestler in IMPACT now and with her fiancee she can continue to get work in Mexico. I'm not convinced % 100 that the door is closed for the 2 major companies bringing her in. It may take a few more years. It'll be interesting to see how she's affected by this, Its probably a win for IMPACT in a sense that this increased the likelihood of her sticking around. I'm not a fan of a woman holding the title but I dont watch IMPACT anyway. I'd like to see where they go with this though, do they have her booked again another woman or do they keep her hagain men. They just did tapings in Mexico and the title change happened in Texas, it'll be interesting to see what reaction see gets among East coast fans.
  17. Watching Wrestle Kingdom a few weeks ago I was thinking to myself why would anyone want to be in the Final match/Main Event match at Wrestle Mania. The last 2 Manias I struggled to stay up for the Main Event. I know last year was important for the lady's to get to close the show but now that that's done. Why would anyone want to close a show that about 6 hours in total. The Crowd is more so ready for the show to end long before
  18. They'd be perfect for Showtime, I hope they do get on that Channel and I think they'll gain alot of new fans that have that Channel already. I think it would be cool tv have Wrestling on a Premium Channel like that. Imagine ECW on HBO or Showtime in the late 90s. I think it wont be too long before Corgan gets NWA on someone's tv, both NWA and MLW have done great with being on YouTube. NWA has created enough buzz among the Wrestling fans for the past few years. There is still other channels that would probably want to get in the Wrestling market right now and NWA would definitely be appealing to a network want to get on board with having Wrestling on. I'm loving how all these networks are open to have Wrestling apart of their programming especially non WWE. I just hope all these companies to do well enough to where they don't mind investing in their success. Imagine if it was like this 10 to 15 or so years ago. TNA ruined it f anyone else even bothering with pro Wrestling.
  19. I think the fact that the company is behind her makes it easier for her to work herself into a shoot, Believing she never anything. She didn't deny Spitting on her either. Her company supports her, That's all she needs
  20. Brian Last's 605 Podcast did a observer HOF special a few weeks ago. Ironically I just finished the 2nd part of the episode Sunday and He brought up Rocky Johnsons career and one of the guests brought up his book, and its seems like a good book from this bit of what he brought up. He seems to have an interesting lineage himself as well.
  21. If Shawn Michaels kids get in the Biz they'll be saying the same thing if they spazz out
  22. You can tell Corny wanted to come to her defense any chance he could in this but Last wouldn't give him an out, he finally gave him. That second generational bias , I feel him though
  23. I get what you mean but from what I understand it wasn't IMPACTs decision. It was Anthems decision. IMPACT had Hopes that New Japan would do business with them eventually. I'm sure anthem decided to just get rid of New Japan altogether seeing how strongly they are against working with them The timing of the whole Tessa Controversy probably makes Anthem wish they kept New Japan instead and probably would be enough reason to let go of IMPACT. With Marty Scurl working to bridge the gap between ROH and NJPW, we will probably be seeing New Japan guys back on ROH tv again soon so that will be good for them to continue their American exposure for New Japan America.
  24. It weird when you think about the fact that Vince has wanted Wrestling or at least his promotion to be treated serious by the Sports or Entertainment industry depending on the week that if it was and the Media did care about the Industry then they'd force him to change his business practices and cover the Wrestlers like these major sports leagues and entertainment agencies cover their talent.
  25. I like what I've seen of Starrs work but he's the Wrestler version of Dave Bix. He's to headstrong with the Politics and the Social justice that its gonna hurt him. I agree with some of his view points but dont force you views on people. Keep it separate from the business
