  1. When you try to be the guy to call everyone on their BS, you run the risk of someone doing the same to you. Its Unfortunate because he was becoming one of my favorite indie wrestlers
  2. Alot of that run was blurry to me at times, even as a kid I'd see him show up on TV and I'd think to myself "He's still around"? His WCW run after this was way more memorable. That Stalker gimmick should've been a heel run if not they should've paired him against Austin when he came in. Especially considering their WCW past and JR was office
  3. I listened to an episode of Kris Zelners Between the Sheet podcast covering a week in May of 2001 and I didn't know how committed Vince McMahon was initially to making WCW a legit separate brand from WWF. It was the Viacom network that had the hurdle that really stopped him from going all the way with the idea which caused Vince to lose interest in the Entity of WCw. I know alot of the initial brand split idea came from the WCW buyout but it would've been so different for alot of those WCW guys on the Titan Payroll if Vince was able to pull his idea off. I'm not so naive to believe that theyd still have alot of political bs to deal with but just that initial investment by Vince and crew would've made for some interesting 9 months or so atleast by keeping WCW separate, atleast enough to keep their own identity. I'm sure we would've gotten more intermingling between WWF and WCW than there should've been based off what we've seen between RAW and Smackdown but it would've kept guys like DDP and Booker stronger and maybe even encourage people like Goldberg or Sting to get on board for money matches with Austin or Rock ect. Even alot of the WCW talent in developmental would've probably gotten better treatment. Even if Vince was able to pull it off, I still don't believe it would last too long but I think it would've been way better for WWF than that Invasion angle that happened and if was a factor in business going down.
  4. I watched everything but the Kross Match and the Dream vs Cole backlot brawl, everything I watched really enjoyed. The 6 Women was a good opener, I was really impressed by Priest. I haven't been watching the tv but these past few Takeovers he's been really good but this match with Balor he really brought it. Gargano vs Lee was good playing off the injuries. The main event was really good, I watched it after it happened so I knew Shirai won but I wouldn't have saw it coming if I was watching live. This Takeover didn't seem to have the same energy as far as feedback like usual but I thought it was up to par with other Takeovers maybe because it's the first show I've watched with an audience. I might watch the Back lot brawl I hear it wasn't bad but I dont feel it was cant miss like all of Dreams other Takeovers
  5. When they brought back Squash matches in 2016 after the 2nd brand split started to build up Nia Jax and Braun in was so good to see. It was some of Nia's best stuff outside of Bayley matches in NXT. I still believe she got called up way too early. At the time when she was feuding with Bayley I was willing to bet she'd take the NXT Women's title off Bayley. I didn't expect her to get called up so soon. I wish she got to stick around much longer to get more experience. The storytelling of her matches are great most the time but she's still rough around the edges. I felt the same way about Tamina, she would've been so much better had she stayed in FCW a while longer. She got alot of criticism for not being good in the ring but I don't think you can blame her because she got called up so quick because of her unique look. That's my biggest fear about The Rocks Daughter. I do think Simone probably has a better grasp of wrestling going in than Tamina and Nia going into it.
  6. I remember back in '06-'07 People were saying that Finlay was Vince's favorite wrestler at the time and that he would've gotten a World title run if it wasn't for his age. Finlay is one of my all time favorites and I wish he had a run. It never appeared to me that he was 50 or close to it at the time. Looking back, especially after watching the Taker Documentary, he was light years ahead of where HHH and Taker have been in the past 5 years as workers. It's bad enough that both Taker and Hunter get to work 25 to 35 minutes or more for the matches they do have where they are quickly blown up and have to resort to melodrama for storytelling. Finlay was working a full time schedule and never seemed out of place, in fact he was steps ahead of everyone and made Batista, Lashley and guys like that better worker being in the ring with them. His ECW title run was cool atleast
  7. The WWWF/WWF style was very Kick/Punch up until the expansion got going and you had guys that were more about work rate, maybe some of it had to do with George Scott booking and bring in Mid Atlantic talent. The WWE was still a big mans territory dominated by Monsters and Body Builder like guys even some of those guys got to show off their athleticism. Mabel/Viscera/Big Daddy V did cool stuff for his size but I don't think it was a good decision to have him win KotR 95 especially with that bracket of guys even considering that the work rate had advanced with guys like Bret, Shawn and Owen near or at the top. If the New WWF Generation didn't have guys stuff with shitty gimmicks it would've been looked at more fondly style wise
  8. Since April of '14 a few weeks ago was the first time I considered cancelling the Network. I Wrestlemania was Ok and I enjoyed a few matches on Money in the Bank. I wasn't watching the tv before the Pandemic soon you know I'm not watching now. The thing about WWE is there is always going to be a few guys I really enjoy watching, like Andrade is probably my favorite to watch, Daniel Bryan ofcourse. There's probably more than a handful of talent I'd consider myself a huge fan between the 3 brands that I could give myself a not to give up on the company completely. The way or lack of push for a some of these guys and girls may factor into my enthusiasm for the company. Before New Japan closed up after Wrestle Kingdom, I was fully invested in it, I told myself I was gonna make an effort to keep up with it closely, then the Pandemic hit. I hear they are opening soon. I wish they stayed close until they can get crowds, I believe the people will be ready once they were to open up again and not be ran into the ground like here. I understand why the American promotions running but I kinda wish they closed right now so the fans have a chance to miss wrestling. I thing because there is no off season , right now would have been a great time to force wrestling fans to have a break. The business could've benefited from a break from first run programming.
  9. I feel like I should go back and check out 2008 PPV on the network I remember enjoying that year, lots of fresh talent like Punk emerging and Umaga, Taker was still a workhorse Finlay still going
  10. He was the type wear his shades indoors but not outdoors because remember he was having many Sunny days.
  11. Props to Martha for fighting against Vince, She had so much going against her, including half the Harts. Owen isn't persona non grata in WWE, so I dont see the big deal about him not going into the Hall of fame. Kevin Steen acknowledges his name and his son name came from Owen. She now is continuing on his legacy outside of WWE and I think that's the problem with alot of guys is they feel they need be apart of WWE to stay relevant. Even if you look at Flair, it took him till after he retired to gain mainstream fame outside of wrestling doing outside projects and just socially relevant people in pop culture acknowledging how big of a fan they are and that's worth more than anything Vince and company could do it they tried. If someone like Drake, or Kendrick Lamar decided to do songs about Jericho or Bret and had one of the apart of their entourage they'd be away more over outside of wrestling. I'm not anti WWE but I've always had respect for people that stood up to Vince for whatever reason, whether its Warrior or Punk or Bret. Bret and Punk still have no filter and no problem saying something they dont like about WWE or an unpopular opinion unlike most guys that come back or get on good terms with Vince
  12. They didn't bring up the Idea of using Mascarita Sagrata, I'm sure they would have had to had plans on having the rigging more secure I believe. I get that the Blue Blazer was used to make fun of Hogan and Sting but by Late 98 and '99 I dont remember Sting doing it anymore. Knowing what we know about the pettiness of WWE, it bothers me knowing that the reason he was in the gimmick was a rib in the first place. He had a good this going teaming with Jarrett but they wanted to use the love interest angle that he refused. Even set aside Owen's Moral objections to doing the angle anyone who's watched long enough at that point knows that angle doesn't fit him in that role anyway. I seen a clip of Animal saying how Owen told him personally that he was uncomfortable doing the deal before he left to go to the Airport. I know its wrestling, but image Foley telling people how uncomfortable he is Bumping from the Cell or Someone in a TLC afraid to bump off a 20 ft ladder. They probably won't be doing it especially as a regular part of their deal. It seems like alot to have to invest in for something that is not for a major payoff. Bischoff and WCW get alot of Shit for not using Bret the way they could have but WWF should have went all the way with Owen trying to avenge Bret.
  13. I don't know why I dont remember this, I was watching at the time. I didn't get the PPV. I remember JBL was feuding with Shawn and somehow Shawn was working for him, I dont remember Jericho feuding with JBL.
  14. I thought he signed a new contract a few months back, I would like to him in AEW with Tully, Arn and Jake. AEW have been better at featuring legends in non wrestling roles than WWE but he'd probably be afraid he'd put heat on Charlotte if he worked with anyone else. He looks in the best health he's been in since his health scares
  15. Was Honky Tonk Man apart of the office sort of then? He was doing commentary in early 97 and watching at the time it didn't feel like it was solely for the Rockabilly angle. Maybe it was but he wasn't bad on commentary, I would've preferred him as a commentator than as someones mouth piece.
  16. In WWF/E's Universe why wouldn't Slaughter or Miz be HOFers at some point, Slaughter was right behind Hogan as #1 Babyface before leaving and Headlined when he was brought back and treated like a legend over the years, Miz has been the most reliable when it comes to Media and press and very much a company guy. I think he has has some of the Strongest US and IC title runs in modern times where they both mean something. Miz will never be in Reigns or Lesnars spot obviously but he is consistent as a upper midcarder
  17. Jericho needed to be outside of WWE for another major promotion that would allow him more creative freedom, I feel like Edge would've did awesome in AEW too if he decided to in a non Covid19 world. Honestly he still don't know how limited Edge is in the ring yet because he hasn't had a straight up match yet but he's so creative and smart.
  18. It didn't hit me till years later that Team Canada was supposed to be Russo's WCW version of the Hart Foundation with Storm as Bret. I understand the criticisms now that Storm gets but when I was younger I thought Lance was a wrestlers wrestler in the circus of WCW and I enjoyed watching Skipper too. I wonder now if Russo would've had Bret in Lance's role if the was still active or had him in the group at all. They were probably my favorite thing about WCW when I did check them out. I liked Major Gunns too because ever other women in WCW was either a blatant ripoff of someone in WWF or wasting TV time by dancing like the Nitro girls or Stacy Keibler
  19. When I saw the first headline Monday, afternoon, Wanted to avoid this board till I got any confirmation. He's seemed like a very sold person, I follow him on Instagram and you can tell he was a good family man and a great friend to people in the business too. I remember seeing his his comment pop up wishing the Rock happy birthday a few weeks ago and Rock thanked him back minutes later. He had a ton of other great things going on outside of wrestling but I could tell he was still a big fan. I could see that big brother dynamic he had with JTG and my thoughts are with him as well as Shads. He seemed like such a credit to the business. There is even a young lady I follow on Facebook today that posted about him helping her start in the business recently. This one really hurts but Thankfully he saved his son
  20. I wish had got the Rey vs Liger match we were supposed to get about 2 years ago. I think he and Cody would have a better match than they did years ago considering Cody is much better now plus they'd have a great backstory for the match. AEW treats Legends so much better than WWE. He'd do fine ending his Career there although I wouldn't trade his matches with Andrade for anything I don't think he have matches at that level with anyone else in WWE atleast
  21. I want fully paying attention to last night but I rewatched Rollins vs McIntyre and it was really good. I don't watch the shows week to week but I think this was one of Rollins better matches as of late. His Match at Mania was good as well. I hope he sticks to doing these straight up pro wrestling matches and not do anything of the theatrical stuff. We saw how the Fiend match turned out for him in front of a crowd. I love Drew's Glasgow kiss Headbutt, it's not a Headbutt use can really see through like most guys. Both guys brought it here, I know WWE likes to run matches into the ground but I'd like to see these two go at it again.
  22. With no Crowds at the Events, how does WWE detect what is getting over with the Audience, are they going by Social media, YouTube video views. I know tv ratings are down ridiculously low because of the circumstances but I feel bad for the Current champions Braun and McIntyre right now because they got their first world/universal title runs and there's no real metrics to measure how over a person is. Business wasn't good before all this and I imagine it will take a while to recover from this attendance wise and viewership wise when it does get back to normal. I thought Braun should've been Champ Years ago and I thought between RR and before the lockdown they'd build Drew nicely leading up to his win. I hope when WWE come out on the other side of this, that they do get anything held against them.
  23. I barely watched WCW at that point, I wasn't familiar with the Varsity Club so when I saw them I was trying to figure out why are these guys together. I probably watched more Saturday night than anything at that point because I enjoyed watching the Powerplant guys work. I was fully invested in ECW after they got on TNN and WWF at that time, I'd check in on WCW once in a while. Russo era had some bad stuff when I checked in but I will say there where a few guys I thought had potential and Rey, Juvi and people like that I always enjoyed.
  24. Because of his position in the business and also I think it's the not completely burning your bridges aspect. I'm listening to the Revival on Jericho's podcast and they are talking about how they talked to Vince and how surprised at how educated they were and about being from North Carolina too like he was. Its asham how Vince views people in certain way, much like Luke Harper too. I always think about Vince telling Austin on his podcast that the current guys are complacent and dont come to him with ideas, then you hear guys go on Podcast saying they pitched stuff to creative and Vince directly all the time. The Revival are very smart guys to the business, I see why they insisted on leaving because they know that they can go further with the chains of WWE off them.
