  1. Got the the point where I remembered all the usual Sacred stuff (always buy undead killing potions, do not consume the skill things or they never recharge) and oof, they did not balance a ranged character well at all. Time to roll up with a Seraphim and try again.
  2. Finished up the Assassin's Creed: Dynasty manga and it's really, surprisingly good. Five volumes, moves along at a good pace, and there's a lot of neat information about ancient Chinese history tucked into it.
  3. The World We Make by N. K. Jemisin is not her best work, but it's still light years beyond the usual run of the mill stuff. She explains what happened (COVID, editing, reality being way too fucking real) and I get it. There's definitely a couple points where you go, "Ah, yeah, this should've been explained already, and probably was in the first go." But definitely worth it if you read The City We Became.
  4. Also buried in that article is a confirmation that they're beginning to work on Ahsoka season 2. I will need more info on this movie before I get excited about it. (she says, lying like a liar)
  5. "Age does not diminish the extreme delight of a snow day." - Mr. Venebles, my high school math teacher, and wiseass man
  6. Oh, there's a version without that? Thanks, I will go find me a rental of it.
  7. FanFest means we got all the Dawntrail stuff. First, the other new class if the FF6 inspired Pictomancer: The new race is female Hrothgars: And here's the extended teaser trailer for the expansion: Now to start saving up for a new computer...
  8. So we can see Firestar and Iceman when?
  9. To start out the new year, I'm playing a game from 2004 - Sacred (Gold version). It's still very pretty, and very dumb, and very fun.
  10. There are some good ones out there, and some rare ones that don't exist outside of a janky VHS copy in the basement somewhere.
  11. Still playing a lot of Lord of the Rings: Online - Nostalgia is strong, sure, but this is also a very good MMO that you can play mostly solo and without subscribing at all. I've still got a sub to Final Fantasy XIV, and have started to think, "Oh I should log in that alt over there and work on her a bit." A couple of silly Match 3/Match Mahjong games to pass the time. My computer is pretty much at the end of it's life cycle; I can't play anything from about 2020 onward, unless it's a real simple one. Which is not bad, per se, but there's a bunch of things I've been thinking about playing that I can't. We'll see what Mom and Dad's taxes look like this year, maybe there's some room in the budget for an upgrade.
  12. Other vague 2024 dates Probably summer - Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail expansion. It will probably also include a graphical update, so I'm crossing my fingers I won't need a new computer to play it. Still just 2024 - Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn and Titan Quest II
  13. Read 79 things this year, beating my goal of 75. I plan to keep the same goal for next year, but try to balance the book/comic ratio a bit better. I either need to break down and get a decent e-reader, or get over my aversion to reading books on my iPhone. Not sure which is more likely to happen.
  14. The Steam Winter Sale has begun. May the gods have mercy on your bank account.
  15. Could get up to 3 inches of rain today. pray for my roof.
  16. Lung cancer (pasting the link because the button won't let me insert it - https://apnews.com/article/andre-braugher-lung-cancer-6aa6f46c6cf4c20500a8a96bfa1831cb). Everyone chime in with me here... FUCK. CANCER.
  17. The "Belichek to Panthers" rumors are starting up
  18. Good lord could we please just take this out back and shoot it dead? No-one, absolutely no one, wants this.
  19. Have they shown Alia yet? Or even hinted at her?
  20. It's been dead for years, but now it's official - E3 is dead.
  21. I'll have to see who's doing the soundtrack for Visions of Mana. Some things you just shouldn't mess with. Senua's Saga... man, I bought the first one to support the studio, but I don't know that I'll ever be mentally healthy enough to play it., much less another one.
  22. Read Binti, and then Binti: Home. by Nnnedi Okorafor Binti is good, tightly written, tells a complete story. Home is so very obviously half of a whole that it practically ends mid paragraph. I'll have to see if I can find a copy of the third book somewhere.
  23. There are new shots and official posters from FF VII: Rebirth of Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind, and old school me is boggling at how we can finally have games that play like Advent Children looked (*cough mutter*) years ago.
  24. Hayden Hurst of the Panthers diagnosed with post traumatic amnesia after getting hit in the week 10 game against the Bears. Despite this, he's back on the practice field.
  25. I need to make more rude comments about Hoopla here more often, because every time I complain they don't have something it appears a week or two later. Anyways, Kieron Gillen did an amazing job with Immortal X-Men. I would not mind owning all 13 issues and the extra "Sinister Date" thing at some point. Just a well written series that does deep dives on some really complicated characters.
