  1. man, what's crazy is that you can pick any random episode of Dynamite from it's 4 year history, and there's some crazy matchup on it. THIS will be the tv show that people look back to years from now like "can you believe we got X vs Y on free tv?" Dynamite is a wrestling show that is focused on wrestling. that shouldn't be a novel concept, and yet, it seems like it is. ::shrug::
  2. https://ibb.co/WGNNp5g @the Natural, i thought you'd get a kick out of this. sorry that neither the image nor the tag will embed. i may or may not edit this later. context: i refused to watch Batman Begins in the theater, mostly due to the Bat-Tank (generally referred to as "the Tumbler"). #NotMyBatman. but for real, Christian Bale did a pretty good job, i just held out animosity due to directorial choices (like the lack of an actual batmobile!). obviously by tDK i was willing to overlook my hatred (not an easy decision, but probably mitigated by having a Mountain Dew crossover- i'm 100% a Mtn Dew whore and i have no argument against me being such). But tDKR was a film i didn't enjoy, so i guess it all comes full circle. Anyway (is this unrelated? i may be just rambling at this point) i highly recommend Pete Holmes' "Badman" youtube videos for any other disenfranchised fans. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDdHYjb5sBk&pp=ygUGYmFkbWFu). again with the lack of embedding. There's so many of these quotes that have become a staple in the twiztor household. "i'm the world's greatest detective".
  3. whatever happened to Andrew Yang (i think?) pushing for WWE to stop claiming their wrestlers are "independent contractors"? i wonder how a change in employment status [i don't know if this is the correct term. i am not trying to imply that Rollins should be fired, just that he should be covered as an actual employee] would change Mr. Rollins' takes on this subject matter.
  4. how long does Stan stay on the book? possibly relatedly, how long are you looking to follow it for? i will admit that in my read earlier this year, i stopped at 104. i'll be interested to read your takes on the continued run.
  5. "There's Marko Stunt! But whose side is he on?"
  6. tickets bought for NWA75! probably a long shot, but if anybody else is going and wants to meet up, let me know!
  7. Vamp has made a series of bizarre health claims for many years now. i don't know how much is true, how much is complete bullshit, and how much was misdiagnosed (whether that be a self-diagnosis or not) but clearly there are and have been issues for a while now. Whatever the case may be, i hope he takes care of himself.
  8. glad there's people who enjoy the schtick, i honestly don't see the appeal, but we all have different tastes.
  9. NWA POWERRR! 7/18/23 @ Highland Park, IL Alex Taylor vs. Colby Corino fun, fast-paced match. Corino gets my attention, being the son of one of my all time faves. he made a big return at Crockett Cup and has looked impressive since. worth watching. TV Title: Thom Latimer (c) vs. Mario Pardua i forgot about the fun stipulations with the TV Title matches (6:05 time limit, + successfully defending 7 times nets you a NWA World Title match). This surprised me by being more competitive than i expected, especially since Pardua got the jobber entrance. US Tag Team Title #1 Contender Tournament Semifinal: Daisy Kill & Talos vs. Magic, Inc. ("the Barker" Cody James & "Magic" Jake Dumas) competent match that was more enjoyable than i expected. Talos is a tall dude. Daisy Kill has possibly the worst ring name of all time. the Magic Inc. team is really all about their valet, CJ. US Tag Team Title #1 Contender Tournament Semifinal: Spectaculars (Rush Freeman & Brady Pearce) vs. Fixers, LLC (Jay Bradley & Wrecking Ball Legursky) the Spectaculars are pretty bland Fantastics clones. Wrecking Ball is a big dude that moves well. HOSS STYLE, BABY! not a ton too this match, but i enjoyed it for what it was. bizarre promo from Vampiro, who is now the manager Legend of NWA Tag Team champions La Rebelion. He seemed very out of it, and i have no idea if it was in character or not. Matt Cardona offers an open challenge for NWA75. decent enough promo. He promises NWA75 will be "Chapter 2" of his quest to "save the NWA" Women's TV Title Samantha Starr vs. Kenzie Paige (c) decent little quick match here. nothing special, but it was fun. SEE YOU IN 7!
  10. is this a real take? she (and QTV as a whole, minus Powerhouse Hobbs) have fully landed in my 'fast forward' list. i see zero redeeming qualities.
  11. finally listened to this pod as well. Quick 45 minute interview that doesn't overstay its welcome. Had to look him up on cagematch to see what else he had done in wrestling. Fairly interesting in that the Gambler kind of treated pro wrestling/WCW as a part time job. Like, he has a handful of matches each year, but it doesn't seem like he was really touring or anything, and he never had anything close to a feud. just kind of a weird career.
  12. if i were in charge of an athletic commission or whatever, i would definitely work with some smaller shows and try to find a new judging system. My initial thoughts are to increase the number of judges from 3 to 5. I would also institute some sort of training system for judges, because it seems like so many of them are clueless. i think it would work to change from the 10 point must system. I'm thinking something more akin to a 5 point must system, but with a lot more liberal use of all the numbers. you'd still have mostly 5-4 round scores, but encourage 5-5 rounds for something dead even. 5-3 for a clear advantage. 5-2 for a dominant round. 5-1 if it should have already been stopped or for Nate Quarry-Kalib Starnes style fights. i don't know if that would work, but it couldn't be much worse than nothing but 10-9 subjective rounds.
  13. at this point they may as well wait for Jiri to return.
  14. i know Raven won the WCW Light Heavyweight title at some point, but i don't think 1998 Raven is making the CW limit. and if you think the main event scene is bad now, just wait for Piper to return in a couple months! also, i love to read your complete hatred for Nick Patrick segments. You are completely correct in that they aren't entertaining, necessary, or over, and yet i find a certain charm in them that i can't quite explain. and i second the love for Dark City.
  15. oh man, i am dying trying to picture a big enough shot that could knock someone all the way to the top rope from the floor. amazing. also, Schiavone was in WCW Nitro? i don't remember that at all. wow, i just looked up a list, and there are a lot of crazy unlockable wrestlers. i would say that i should play that game again (i do still own it, after all), but nah. it's just not a good game.
  16. why this huge hype for Nick Wayne but little to none for Billie Starkz? i see more people praising her work than his. She's 0-8 in AEW and hasn't even appeared on Dynamite yet. (6 on Dark/Elevation, 1 on BOTB, 1 on Forbidden Door)
  17. i think re-upping in an "off year" would normally be good. the networks that didn't get NFL, NBA, etc. have money to spend and would be more likely to promote their own "exclusive". But if it's only a year or two deal, you could be potentially looking at trouble since more of the rights fees will be up for grabs then. and that's not even factoring in some sort of combo WWE/UFC rights deal, which could just be gigantic.
  18. who asked you to bring logic into an argument about ratings? i only want to read doom & gloom, or 7 star praise. NO INBETWEENIES!
  19. yeah, i was perplexed that Joe Galli immediately knew what EC3 was going for, since for all the years i've watched wrestling, i've never seen a relinquishment/challenge for a title go down in a fashion anywhere close to that. i guess it worked, in a "mic drop" kind of way? it certainly is an interesting way to start the buildup to that match tho.
  20. NWA POWERRR! 7/11/23 @ Highland Park, IL Brothers of Funstruction vs. Le Rebellion (c) - non Tag Team titles match the clown team does absolutely nothing for me. i don't understand their (seemingly?) sudden push. zero interest. Vampiro with la Rebelion adds some intrigue, but we get a pretty paint-by-numbers match with a nonsensical finish. Ricky Morton vs. Koa Laxamana Morton is freshly heel, so that should add some fun to what will likely be a squash match. well, Koa showed promise. Ricky Morton has been 70 years old for 50 years now. not much of a match, but it was ok. Zyon vs. Rolando Freeman Freeman seems inexplicably over with the crowd. i don't inderstand the Austin Idol/Zyon/Cyon drama despite watching the Crockett Cup. i didn't expect much here, but it was a fun match. Natalia Markova & Pretty Empowered vs. Kamille, M95, & Ruthie Jay Markova is BARELY staying in her top. it is DISTRACTING. ok, i'll settle down. this match was fast and furious. it had action and intensity. great stuff! NWA National Title: "Thrillbilly" Silas Mason vs. EC3 (c) this is a rematch from the Crockett Cup, and these guys pick up right where they left off. solid match but falls apart a bit at the finish. #NWA75 implications galore!
  21. i would buy their 70s/80s punk album
  22. what an incredible night of fights! had to watch the two title fights this morning, as i fell asleep right after the stoppage of Whittaker. has to be one of the absolute best cards of the last few years. bummer that the Jack Della Maddalena fight was cancelled day before.
  23. wait, does KSA own the trademark to the "I have strong opinions about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which you should PM me about. But I wanted to express them here too because I can't help myself" "Crown Jewel" show? i know this is not something that will ever happen, but hypothetically speaking, when the KSA-WWE partnership ends, could KSA run "AEW Crown Jewel"?
  24. Happy Bobby Bonilla Day!!
