  1. Trolololololol! This is in the WCW OMG Moments DVD as well, absolutely hysterical. Especially if you're listening to Kevin Sullivan's MLW podcast where he goes through WCW bookings week-by-week and explains how Hogan was.Hogan's creative control gave Savage the WCW title because Randy had split with Liz and The Hulkster "gave" him the title to bury any heat between him and Randy. Hogan's creative control created The Renegade who Hogan wanted to be called Warrior (until TBS legal killed it). Hogan's creative control allowed Flair and Savage to get the title but never to be shown as strong champions because Hogan would eventually reclaim his belt... whenever he got back from filming a movie. I've fallen behind the past month due to the holidays and stuff but I always got a kick out of Sullivan describing the lengths of Hulk's paranoia manifested through his creative control use. He's stated that no heels could lose during his absence when filming one of his classic movies because they'd lose any heat they had for when it came time for Hulkster to beat them on his return. Scott Norton's unbelievable power, arm size, and arm wrestling history couldn't be played up too much, brother, because we all know who has the 24" pythons. It sounds like the entire card was either directly or indirectly influenced by that fragile ego of Hulk's. all things considered, it's pretty amazing that WCW was as good as it was from '96-'97. all that considered, it's
  2. man, that spinning back fist was awesome. thought it was an elbow at first, but the replay showed otherwise. that's really the only really good thing i can say about this event. well, that, and that i'm already ahead in my UFC 2015 pool. but only by a point. Jones/Cormier started out good, but after rd 3 dropped off BAD. Cerrone dismantled Jury. Marquardt clearly didn't come to fight. Lombard could've destroyed Burkman at any point but apparently chose not to. Brimage eating it in the last 10 seconds was an awesome ending to that match. Joe Rogan shitting all over Omar Akhmedov's performance even through a win was terrible. the chick in the pink made the other girl look like she didn't even know what a punch was. are we sure this wasn't a regional amateur bout?
  3. wow, that is definitely huge news for Fight Pass. does anyone know if the UFC owns the "Battlecade: Extreme Fighting" library? they held 4 events in the late 90s then disappeared, with much of their talent going immediately to the UFC, but i've never seen it discussed anywhere. those are some of my favorite "no rules" era events.
  4. now THERE's a man with personality. no brains, tho.
  5. i am interested in seeing Jones face the winner of Gus/Rumble. i am not interested in seeing Cormier fight because, for the most part, he's not very interesting. the Jones "feud" seems to give him a personality when before he didn't have any.
  6. i can't stand the American Idiot album, and haven't given anything after that a try. Green Day will always = Dookie to me. Insomniac and Nimrod are both fine, but Dookie will forever (IMO) be the very best possible outcome of the band. as far as 2014 goes, "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" is clearly the best album put out. not counting fantastic soundtracks, the only albums i've really checked out are Slash "World on Fire" (which was a step down from his previous solo efforts), SixxA.M. "Modern Vintage" (see Slash comment), Weird Al "Mandatory Fun" (which was, in fact, fun), and i downloaded the new Spoon and Tom Petty albums although i haven't given either one a proper chance yet.
  7. picked up the MiracleMan Annual today. was interested to see what the first NEW material featuring MM would be like. especially since this is a Morrison story. gotta say, wasn't impressed. this is the definition of an unnecessary tale. the other side of it, the Mike Allred story, was more entertaining but i still wasn't a huge fan. if you're on the fence about this one, skip it. to balance that out, All-New Invaders is a spectacular series and it makes me sad that is will soon be cancelled. it seems James Robinson just can't catch a break with his books. damn shame.
  8. i LOVED Undisputed 3. i played the create-a-fighter career mode dozens of times, creating both real and imaginary fighters. i basically bought an XBox 360 just for this game, and i totally felt like it justified the purchase. sold it about a year ago, and sometimes i still wanna go Pride mode on somebody.
  9. still waiting for Captain Falcon and Pit. neither has shown up any place in town yet. after picking up Luigi today, my collection sits at: Link, Samus, Fox, Pikachu, Zelda, Luigi. in February i can't wait for Sonic and Mega Man. i'll probably pick up Mario, Peach, and Kirby at some point, but i think that is all i need. Maybe Donkey Kong too. and if they make a Pac-Man one.
  10. for my money, Weidman/Machida was everything both guys needed, especially Chris. Weidman had yet to have a barn burner of a fight with a top level fighter, and i think this was the fight the fully cemented him as a bonafide top guy. and sure, Lyoto would've loved to have a victory (and title), but that fight absolutely keeps him in contention.
  11. I used to enjoy his wrestling, but his commentary soured me to the point I can't go back and re-watch his matches. i'm with ya, eddie. fuck a zbyszko.
  12. I will believe it when Manny's camp says it's going to happen the opening bell rings. I would watch out of morbid curiosity. This fight should've happened back in 2009. With Manny's mystique blemished by getting KTFO by Marquez, the bloom has left the rose. FTFY. otherwise i agree. i'm not really a boxing fan at all, but i'd check it out.
  13. yeah, i did NOT see the Pettis sub coming, so i think i have to vote for him again this year.
  14. Owen and Jarrett was such a weird thrown together tag-team but you're right, they were good together. What was the story behind them teaming? Was there ever any kind of on-screen explanation? I usually have a pretty good memory for things like that but I don't recall why or how they started teaming. i don't really remember what lead to them teaming, but i do remember a poll on wwf.com asking what the team name should be. i remember "Canadian Country" being my favorite, so i continue to refer to the team as that.
  15. there's no way that Rumble doesn't win this, in my eyes. dude was a forgotten after-thought, and now he's ranked #3 and could potentially be fighting for a title in 2015.
  16. the Shine Fights tourney was a glorious disaster. thanks to whoever mentioned it. seeing a flying knee take a guy completely over the top rope was spectacular. a few pretty good fights too, despite all the weird stuff going on
  17. not 100% decided yet but leaning towards Sterling also, but mainly just because i remembered his name and both fights
  18. Savage as commentator is sucn an anomaly. he doesn't put people or actions over in the traditional way. he's got WAY more energy and enthusiasm than he should. he doesn't play off the other announcer(s) like he could. but for some reason, it works. not always if you just watch a single show, but following the narrative really makes his take on commentating stand out to me.
  19. Aldo is obviously the linear Featherweight champ. Cain is the linear Heavyweight champ.
  20. i had never heard of Shine Fights. after a quick google search, i am now on the hunt to find a torrent of this event. it sounds spectacular.
  21. how did the BattleGrounds MMA: O.N.E. show do back in October and any chance of them doing another? their website is still a countdown to the Oct show.
  22. when they add a WWE Network app to either the Wii(U) or Sony Blu-Ray players, then i'm in. but i'm not going to buy a device for JUST the network, as everything else i want to do online thru my tv is available thru those other 2 devices. but i sure as shit am not paying $60 for a wrestling ppv. especially one that's free.
