  1. co-sign. character-wise, Savage joining the nWo was flipping retarded. he'd been fighting them (especially Hogan) for months, and was repeatedly the victim of a mugging or beating by them. then again, it stopped Savage from getting beaten up to end the show for about a year, so in hindsight i guess it makes some sort of sense. it's WCW, and the ratings are the only thing of importance. to paraphrase WWE Hall of Famer Drew Carey, the storylines are made up and the feuds don't matter.
  2. will be interesting to see where they begin. january 1997? night after Survivor Series '97? night after WrestleMania 14?
  3. finished Eternal this morning. i loved the entire story. i could pick out a few pieces here and there i had a problem with, but i was HOOKED. the semi-final reveal (see Matt D's spoiler) i totally did not see coming, but made perfect sense. the actual reveal was just fine also. i really believe that reading this in a big chunk made this much better than it would have been weekly. i really enjoyed the Red Hood/Batgirl interactions. Don't get me wrong, i don't want to see them romantically involved. that would be weird. but if Red Hood was written like this regularly, i'd be interested in his book. sadly, it seems this is not the case.
  4. just popped in to say "Happy Rex Manning Day"!
  5. they just shipped out the replacement discs mid-February, so if you find a newly produced set, maybe. but how you could tell the difference is anyone's guess. i'll second Zeidler's idea
  6. i thought the last issue was pushed back to 4/29. that's totally waitable. if there's more after that one, then you may be right. addendum: i just read the Arkham Manor series. when it was first announced i thought it sounded like a stupid premise and there's no way it would work. then i found out that it tied into Batman Eternal (which i love) so i decided to give it a shot. then i read it. found out it doesn't really tie into Eternal at all (besides the setup). Plus, the writing is bad and the characterizations are all over the place. so, so bad.
  7. so i'm just under halfway through Batman Eternal (wanted to read it as one big chunk as opposed to weekly) and i fricking love this series. there's so many moving parts, so many subplots and characters, and i really, really enjoy it. i'm doing my best to avoid spoilers, and that has paid dividends so far. when i finish this up in a week or so, i'll probably jump into Endgame before moving on to Convergence. and then swing back to my regularly scheduled 2003 Bat-books reading.
  8. very well said. that "i was waiting for him to stop punching" line is still a running joke between my fight watching friends and i.
  9. they should put out press releases announcing "seasons" or "years" or whatever, of classic wrestling shows. THAT is what people signed up for the Network for, not some wrestling bubble reality shows. that kind of stuff is fine to add variety and pad out content, but WRESTLING is the most important part. that being said, Hulk Hogan's Rock & Wrestling is an awesome addition as is Tuesday Night Titans.
  10. started reading this thread from the beginning, as i'd never ventured into it. came across this: and was all ready to wish you congratulations. then i see your photo from yesterday, and so now i offer up a double dose of congrats!!
  11. Also the PS4 included a $10 code for PSN store credit. It expired March 31st. I got my Playstation April 1st. well at least it didn't expire Feb 31st
  12. WCW vs NWO: World Tour, up thru WWF No Mercy, was a solid series of wrestling games that sold like hotcakes and is still revered to this day. how is it, 14 years later, that nobody has been able to update that system and put out games that are, you know, good? it just blows my mind and reinforces my decision to not buy wrestling games anymore. thankfully my n64 is still functional.
  13. Seriously, raving about how awesome spinner belts are now would be like someone praising the awesomeness of Mr. T. In 1994. Which WCW did. i still praise the awesomeness of Mr. T in 2015. unironically. mr. t has always and will always be the shit. but yes, i had to hold myself back from making a "i pity the fool" crack in there.
  14. 2 things: one: where/how can i vote for more characters? two: anybody that doesn't vote for Bomberman will be stabbed in the eyeball.
  15. ha, i just ran across that Warrior/GameBoy ad in the short-lived WWF BattleMania comic.
  16. wow, this is one of my favorite cards. guess we just see it differently. i felt the Jericho/Regal segment was a lot of fun and the Benoit/Angle match was fantastic (although i agree that Angle's limb psychology is sketchy at best). main could've been trimmed but i never felt that it was obnoxiously long. also, the preshow sees Jerry Lynn debut (i think?) and win the Light Heavyweight title.
  17. had a blast with the show. then again, my only expectation was " i can't wait to see the crowd reaction for this main event" but ended up enjoying myself thru every single match. the only points of contention: 1: why the FUCK did the nWo come out to help Sting? that made less than zero sense, especially since Sting lost. i fully disagree. 2. still not happy that Cena won. i fully understand the reasons and everything, but i'm beyond sick of that dude. in other thinkings: -man, that main event was fucking amazing. brock manhandling was legit. roman's comeback had me on the edge of my seat rolling my eyes. Rollins cashing in mid-match is something that i never saw anybody predict and was pleasantly surprised and excited to see the outcome. -Big Show winning the battle royal was cool with me. he needs to win every now and again. it adds legitimacy to the Andre BR, plus it could potentially build to something in the future. Bradshaw mentioning his history (while conveniently glossing over his 1996 WW3 win) played into the ending, with Cesaro trying to replay last year's final as well as Mizdow recreating Benoit's '04 Rumble win was a great bit of storytelling. -the RKO ending the Orton/Rollins match was a thing of beauty. -i appreciate the Ronda Rousey appearance, but it went on about an hour too long. i was bored to tears.
  18. in the attitude era, everyone had a catchphrase. the crowd went wild chanting along with it. in current times, if anyone starts to get a catchphrase over, they are told to stop using it.
  19. so Extreme Rules is next month. i've got an invitation to go with a friend. is it traditionally a good card? i haven't watched one in a few years.
  20. i wish Coenen would've signed on with the UFC. i'm interested in seeing her vs Rousey, but with them now in different weight divisions AND different companies, doesn't look too likely.
  21. zero suit samus i'd pick up immediately. pac-man i've been iffy on. i'll probably go ahead and grab him. why not? other than that, i dunno. duck hunt dog? ganondorf? olimar? can't see myself getting excited about many others. now, if i could suggest characters to be added to the game (and/or amiibos made of them), my list starts with: Waluigi Bomberman Knuckles Simon Belmont (or one of the Belmont clan, anyway) Raticate (my favorite pokemon)
  22. i loved the cover. especially as a variant. i would consider buying it as a poster. (i probably wouldn't actually buy the poster tho). but i hate the direction of the Hipster Batgirl book, so i wasn't gonna buy the issue anyway. but threats against the artist? seriously? go fuck yourself, comic "fans".
  23. just read Spawn #100. started reading at Spawn #1 about 6 months ago, but i've been interspersing it with other books (taking long break between arcs and whatnot). 100 really feels like an ending. was completely hooked for the last 10 issues or so. such great stuff. will probably take quite a long break before i start with #101. general consensus is that it starts going downhill anytime now, but i guess i'm just gonna have to experience it for myself. edit: whoa, i just looked back at my post from when i started reading Spawn. it was in April last year. didn't know it's been almost an entire year.
  24. Was Spirit Squad a Heyman creation? They got put together around the time Heyman was booking, but it would have been near the tail end of his run, so Heyman might have been gone by then. Not quite sure of the time line. I know the guys were still getting pushed in singles gimmicks when Heyman came in. Edit: Wikipedia says the Spirit Squad debuted on the main roster in Jan '06. That's in the middle of Heyman's time in OVW, so, if that's correct, they started teaming together in OVW not long after Heyman took over. when did Heyman start booking OVW and when did he leave? i remember there being a big buzz about the show at that time but i didn't watch it and am thinking of tracking it down online.
