  1. Hangman throws bombs from start to finish and I’m happy with this approach. Every single punch or kick he does looks pretty brutal. He has my favourite move set in the whole roster cuz nothing is too contrived/fancy and everything he lands feels heavy and hurty.
  2. I also enjoy the guys like Trent or Starks who keep putting out so many bangers that never quite reach ****+ but they’re SO consistent in putting them out almost weekly that there should be a special category for these guys in these type of rankings. Trent for example puts out about 5 or 6 solid badass *** 1/2 matches in the same period that Hangman puts out a single all time classic. It’s a different responsibility to fill in the card but both equally impressive.
  3. My favourite part of the night was Ricky Starks being extremely emotional and trying his hardest to hold back tears of happiness during his entrance.
  4. Updating my definitive top 5 for now since it's the cool thing to do: 5. Jurassic Express vs. Young Bucks vs. ReDragon - AEW Revolution 4. MJF vs. CM Punk - AEW Dynamite, February 2nd 3. Jon Moxley vs. Wheeler Yuta - AEW Rampage, April 8th 2. Eddie Kingston vs. Chris Jericho - AEW Revolution 1. Adam Page vs. Bryan Danielson - AEW Dynamite, January 6th I love that MY FAVE FIVE have no repeated wrestlers in it, shows how good the whole roster really is.
  5. I’ve not posted much in the last couple of weeks because I’m in the middle of moving houses but holy shit was that Yuta’s coming out party. This is easily one of my favourite AEW matches ever because the story and dynamic they had just worked so freaking well from start to finish. I was REALLY hoping that Yuta would pull out an inescapable roll up or something for the win because the roof of that place would have exploded. What an amazing match and one of the best elevations of someone that I’ve seen in I can’t remember how long. This was not just the case of the underdog only earning respect by taking a beating, he was giving it back in equal amounts the whole time and came off as a badass. You have a faction with two of the biggest wrestling stars in the world right now and Regal and you use it to make Wheeler Yuta into a start. Thanks for this whoever booked it all.
  6. Forgot to mention I laughed when Jericho made reference to all the “Keith Lee looks like the kind of guy…” memes that have been popping up in the last week.
  7. Fun show that surpassed my expectations, the hot crowd really makes everything way more fun. Opener was a great big guy fight with way more intensity that I anticipated. Tag match was pretty good and Angels looked great, he’s very overlooked guy. Not sure if the Fuego vs. HOB was a planned program or if it just the result of the super hot sequence from last week but I’m glad we’re getting it. This was a fun segment and a pretty good lil promo by Fuego. Main event was great stuff with both guys coming off as HUGE stars with help from the crowd and the excess of personality from both. It’s refreshing to see how into the “mid card” the AEW fans are since there’s so much talent all over the show. I thought Ricky came off great and I’m again grateful that we’re getting him featured on a weekly basis now.
  8. The top rope chair shots are randomly replayed In my head because they were so satisfying to watch. It helped that the ECW ring sounded like a shotgun was fired every time they hit each other.
  9. I love that these two guy's signature spots was just powerbombing each other out of the ring repeatedly every time they face each other. I loved that shit so much back then.
  10. I always felt Punk got better in the ring in WWE as he matured but he probably had lots more creative freedom in ROH, so current Punk might be the best of both worlds.
  11. Yeah, I assume if he starts feeling it in his knees or gets older he can always go to a standard Lariat or something else. Everything he does looks pretty hurty so options are endless.
  12. Speaking of finishers that don't or do look good, i ALWAYS worry that Hangman is gonna stumble and fall on his face doing the Buckshot during a big climatic finishing sequence and look like an idiot. But he keeps surprising me every time and always hits all his cowboy shit clean af.
  13. If we’re talking about not so well thought out spots, I always wonder what was going through Joe’s head when he thought this was a good idea:
  14. For now I’ll go with what I think my definite top 4 are for now: 4. Jurassic Express vs. Young Bucks vs. ReDragon - AEW Revolution 3. MJF vs. CM Punk - AEW Dynamite, February 2nd 2. Eddie Kingston vs. Chris Jericho - AEW Revolution 1. Adam Page vs. Bryan Danielson - AEW Dynamite, January 6th
  15. Spoilered in case NSFW, Tay and Sammy going all in. RESPECT THEIR PRIVACY FFS ?
  16. I actually thought Sammy's promo was probably his best and most natural sounding one to date, he actually had some fire in his delivery instead of sounding like he's TRYING to have some fire in his delivery if that makes sense. The last line about having sex with the belt and his overly public relationship with Tay might rub some the wrong way I guess but the crowd in the building seemed to be into everything, I think it can eventually turn them into a nice young heel couple which wouldn't be a bad thing. And I guess Nyla Rose is the Kane / Lance Archer of the AEW Women's division. I also love how Regal acts like Excalibur is no one by calling him "man the mask" but continuously praises his commentary and analysis through matches.
  17. That was a scary spot with Butcher holding Darby in a powerbomb position near the steps and then just dropping him. Darby you so crazy.
  18. Agree, Hobbs, Dante, Wardlow, Ass Boys, even Jungle Boy have been excellent examples of this.
  19. If Bret can go back after spitting and punching Vince in the face, then anyone can come back.
  20. Loved that last segment, never “break” these guys up please.
  21. Kinda loved Darby-Butcher with the logical count out finish after taking a death finisher on the outside. Butcher’s lariats were OUT OF CONTROL in this match. Give me 10min of him and Hangman kicking the shit out of each other at some point please. I'm not a Red Velvet fan but she looked quite good tonight and that match with Leyla was pretty great imo. Some nice aggression from both. Didnt care for the trios match except for the last minute when Fuego tagged in and it went into that crazy finishing sequence. That made up for the rest of the match which was a bit meh. Main event was OK but Lee’s matches feel a bit too slow for me with too much of “oh look how the other guy can’t hurt him” moments and slow reactions and turns from Lee. When they get past that and kick into the next gear they get pretty damn good. Looking forward to the eventual Hobbs match because it will hopefully skip that and just go into the two titans clashing violently.
  22. Fun show as pretty much always with a great crowd. My random thoughts as usual: The crowd was super hot for that opener which was extremely enjoyable. Holy shit I popped HUGE for that Triple Moonsault and Double Doomsday Device, I clapped my hands in real life which you know means its good stuff. “u kno all bout da spinebustah bebe”. I love smooth af Hobbs. I guess Bryan and Mox are a face team? But they have to be one of the most vicious face teams ever. It’s a very grey area and I love it. Yuta’s new edge works and he and Chuckie looked great against the two superstars. I appreciate we are getting more and more Ricky Starks sprinkled during the shows lately. More please. Didn’t care much for Jericho’s segment. Only thing I remember is that Jericho is looking in awesome shape. Surreal seeing The Hardys making their entrance with their classic music in AEW. I had not seen Jeff in a long time, he doesn't look bad per se but his face shows that he's in CONSTANT pain no matter what he's doing, I felt every wince on his face. It was during this match that I noticed how freaking tiny the ring looked, weird. LMAO at Marc Quen's random front roll before trying to get Jeff off the top rope, "Parkour!". Crazy that both Hardys are older than Michael Hayes was when he managed them. The main event was good althought not as good as the original, but I love a good real emotional reaction when winning titles, you cant beat those. Was that the first ref bump in AEW? I can’t remember any other.
