Since Endgame the only Marvel I haven't seen in cinema was Black Widow, Eternals and The Marvels. Saw them on Disney+. Prior to Endgame I missed all of Phase One except Avengers, IM 3 and Thor 2 from Phase Two and Doc Strange and Ant-Man 2 from Phase Three. Saw them DVD. For me, not seeing them in the cinema wasn't out of non-interest, I just didn't have the opportunity for various reasons.

I've never felt my enthusiasm for a show dwindle so quickly. This season was, for the most part, pretty good. But the last two episodes were dire and that ending was so not what I want to see from this show. I read someone online say they wish they cast Millie as the Doctor and I just can't shake the thought of how good she would have been.

I think so far its gone from strength to strength. Although one thing I keep thinking is how much I like certain characters (Ruby, Bel, Kate) much more than the Doctor. I do like him, he just often feels like a supporting part.

I did. I liked them. Didn't love them, but I liked them. I really like Belinda so far. She feels like the freshest companion in a long time. She calls out the Doctor for his behaviour. I'm cautiously optimistic.

August 2024 Wrestling Discussion
Nomad replied to Dolfan in NYC's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
I dropped the WON/F4W in December after subbing since 2005. I found it hard to justify paying for the opinions of people I so often disagreed with. I thought it was a bit odd that there was no sort of "why are you leaving" question on the way out. I've had a couple of those e-mails this week and it looks like the price has gone up. I'll pass. -
I've been enjoying the show so far, but I feel like I might've liked it more if I wasn't watching it week-to-week. If I saved it for a one-and-done I think it would be at least a bit better.

I Second the Beyer book. Stan Hansen's book is also really good.

I've just watched it and nothing struck me as controversial.

Solid hand is exactly how I'd describe Signo. Though to be fair the footage we have of those guys in their prime is limited. Navarro has the good rep these days but thats mostly based off his technical wizard stuff of the last 20 years. The trios best worker by far was Texano.

OK, so that's three belters in a row. I don't think any Doctor has had that since Ten.

That depends on where the rest of the season goes and what we learn about her. I liked it. The ending wasn't one where I thought "oh, that was pointless", it was "oh, I wonder whats still to come". The whole run has been setting up her revelation.

It was Ncuti's best episode so far. Teaser for next week looks good too.

By far the best episode in a long time. So much fun.

I'd just like to say I've donated and I'm sending the very best wishes to the whole family. I don't post too often as I've never got anything witty or insightful to add but I've been coming here for years and I've learned and discovered so much.

I have. Honestly, its a bit disappointing. Its largely just results with little bits of background, biography and commentary punctuating them. It could really have used a good proof read too. The only thing I learned was that maybe Don Owen wasn't the kindly old fella I thought.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA - 2/17/2023
Nomad replied to Dolfan in NYC's topic in "COMIC BOOK" MOVIES & TV
I saw it. I loved it. It had everything I was looking for from an Ant-Man movie and some deeper emotional stuff too. I'd say I enjoyed this more than Love & Thunder and BP2 but not quite as much as Strange 2 but only because of the Illuminati part. I thought Kang was a great villian and I'm looking forward to the other versions being expanded. I really liked his dialogue during the plot-type scenes and then in the climactic battle he was great mowing down NPCs before he got to the Ant-family. -
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - 11/11/2022 (Spoilers)
Nomad replied to RIPPA's topic in "COMIC BOOK" MOVIES & TV
Thought this was a great movie. So much emotional depth compared to most other comic book movies. Even Namors little wings didn't seem too stupid. Although the impalement was a little WTF.- 64 replies

I loved it, I thought it was so much fun. Like Ragnarok, it was a comic book movie in the truest sense. I was a little nervous beforehand that the Lady Thor stuff was going to be cheesy but it was really well done. This is easily the best Portman has been in this series.

I hadn't heard of him either so it was a bit of a surprise to find out he went to high school near here. I'm very happy for the guy and wish him the best but as J.T. said the actors were never the problem. I have high hopes for RTD righting the ship.

DR. STRANGE 2 - SPOILERS THREAD - 5/6/2022
Nomad replied to Dolfan in NYC's topic in "COMIC BOOK" MOVIES & TV
Saw it this morning and loved it. We went to the 10:45 show on a Thursday thinking it would be quiet, totally forgetting its an inservice day because lots of schools are used as polling places. So it was packed with lots of chatty little shits with their troughs full of smelly snacks. Anyway, I loved the film. Really dug the aforementioned midpoint reveal (and the little bit of music with it). Mid-credits has me pumped for the next one. This movie has the coolest murders in all Marveldom. I really didn't care for the first Strange movie and I didn't really warm to him in any of his subsequent appearences but I did like him here. I'm going to chalk it up to the director. And Wong. Always more Wong. -
And its pronounced 'Al-a-buh'.

The best part of that episode was the trailer for the next one. And I don't really mean that the episode was too bad, it was fine. Just nothing special. But I am stoked for the October (?) episode.

Over the last two or three years lucha has made up about 80% of all my wrestling viewing, so coming up with names wasn't too hard. Outside of Santo and Casas I'd say my top ten (in no particular order) is: El Dandy, Super Astro, Satanico, Blue Panther, Rey Misterio Jr, Psicosis, Eddy Guerrero, Gran Apache and Silver King & El Texano. Others I keep an eye out for are Villanos IV & V, Dos Caras, Los Destructores, Los Diabolicos, Espanto Jr, Skayde, Tzuki and Mascarita Sagrada. And, for my sins, I've always had a soft spot for Mil Mascaras, but as all of his best stuff is in Japan (vs. Destroyer & Jumbo) I've went with guys who had lots of great stuff in Mexico as well as other places.

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME - 12/15/2021
Nomad replied to Dolfan in NYC's topic in "COMIC BOOK" MOVIES & TV
I got a chance yesterday to see this. We were going to see it a couple of weeks ago but the cinema had a power cut right before we went in. Sort of good timing for us I guess but that must've sucked for the people already watching something. I know its doing very well at the box office but I was still surprised by how many people were at our screening. I enjoyed this movie a lot. It was great seeing all the various actors appear and it had some great action but what I enjoyed most was when characters were just sort of hanging out and talking - especially the three Spideys on the statue.
