  1. Some folks are natural heels but still great babyfaces. Austin being a great example of this. Cody isn't an Austin or Flair, but he's still pretty good.
  2. Why are folks discounting Cody and MJF turning on others, with Cody and MJF doing a Festival of Friendship type thing for a year or two? Also would love to see MJF try to weasel a title shot out of Jericho and try to win it before Cody does in the cheapest way possible- but have Jericho got know all MJF's tricks (kinda like the Jay White/Suzuki match from G1 2018 which was an awesome badass heel beats up shitbag heel feeling himself too much match)
  3. JR did hurt the Juice/Jay White match a good bit IMO in 2018.
  4. Daga in AEW is something I could live with.
  5. Has AEW even established that rule? I wouldn't be surprised if AEW allows belts to change on countouts but not DQs like NJPW does.
  6. I'm guessing they either didn't know or thought it was just his gimmick (I thought it was just his gimmick). Also a lot more casual fans, when the attendence drops it's going to be the more hardcore fans showing up, and they might be the folks who really don't like TERFs. (AEW does seem to have a decent-sized LGBT following) Also, when the newness wears off, folks gonna realize he's the same mediocre talent. Also next week they're adding another guy I really don't like in QT Marshall.
  7. I thought exoticos still identified as male? I would use him for Sonny Kiss unless he listed otherwise. No pronouns in twitter bio. Also TERF rhetoric will not go over well with the AEW crowd, and I wouldn't be shocked if Hager ends up with go-away heat the same way Elgin would. I'm betting Hager will be their first big miss on a talent and if they push he will be their first real misstep.
  8. The fans who know about it are calling this Cody covering for his friend and don't want him in the company. He's about as hated as Elgin would be. AEW's fanbase is pretty left leaning so Hager is playing with fire.
  9. THey at least had Salina pissed at Havoc for that, and I think some other reason.
  10. I don't want Orton anywhere near AEW. I truly despise him on every level, including personally (deserters don't sit well with me). I consider him worse than Elgin (another guy I want nowhere near AEW). That said, if NJPW-USA becomes a thing, AEW is going to have some problems finding folks to fill out the lack of depth in their midcard.
  11. The big question- is NJPWUSA a Theoretical #2 Fed or are they just trying to make a Buck? Between AEW NXT MLW NWA and NJPWUSA, we've got a real wrestling war going on underneath WWE, which could blow all of those companies up.
  12. I got a feeling Hammerstone will end up in AEW given the fairly good relations between MLW and AEW. It might just take a year or two. I'd rather have some guys saved up so they can have hot newcomers. AEW is going to have to wait out some contracts and get by with a thin roster for a while. Hager's the only one I have issue with, Spears never got his chance (though we've seen why), Moxley's a genuine star- and stars are musts no matter who they are, Cody's a star as well, and Dustin's a solid veteran hand/coach. I'd rather Fatu come in as part of a Contra Unit type faction (esp with Samael as a mouthpiece) than individually. I think he would excel in a faction concept- and the Elite lends itself well to faction vs faction conflict. We don't know for certain, but isn't AEW actually breaking even at this point? For a startup wrestling company breaking even is fantastic.
  13. Some of the southern indies would be perfect for this. Maybe give a deal where you just loan the folks out to them, and promise to send bigger names four times a year or something.
  14. The British woman I talk to a good bit about wrestling on discord just loves the Dawsons.
  15. I so want the WK tag match to now be Tekkers vs Finjuice vs GoD.
  16. I'd pay to see Jimmy Havoc staple gun Valentine and Hess. I think the Bruiser's one of those guys who would be unique for AEW, and he gets over. I like most of those names mentioned, though I'd pass on Williams, Taylor, and would only take Black if you get Johnny.
  17. If Mance Warner could play heel , and I think he could, he'd the perfect guy to torment Darby for months. Ryback could work too, just have him be his heel bully character from WWE. The Dark Order of the folks on the current roster could work, but you'd need to get Darby a partner. Havoc is not going to get over as a wrestler in AEW. He's too lousy a standard wrestler, and too small. He can keep doing his backstage stuff, and should become a manager.
  18. One issue AEW has is a lot of their fans won't get cable TV period. I think the shows are going to get watched via the good ship reddit a lot. As long as those folks are willing to attend local events it won't hurt them too much. If they can draw 5-6k in Charlotte on a Wed night that's still pretty good and better than anyone else could.
  19. Sorry for double post, but the Heidi game is why that never happens anymore. In the 1960s, an AFL game was pre-empted for Heidi, and one team made a miraculous comeback and won the game by scoring 14 pts in the last minute. The levels of anger over this were such that it's never done anymore. It's for good reason. Baseball has no time limit on how you can score, so you could have had the Braves somehow chock off 15 straight runs or something.
  20. The Dawsons are probably a bit too old to get national buzz, but I'm glad they got some time here. I wish they were building the tags around the Dawsons instead of those two. I've been to King's Lynn, my mom was born there, it's like the British version of High Point, NC if that helps any.
  21. Seen them once before- they're solid. I wanted AEW to pick them up as a midcard team.
  22. This show- I liked some aspects of it, but they reminded me , and I was ok with treating Corbin as a geek (Especially since Becky got to get some licks in), but the end reminded me why I never want to give WWE any more time or attention again. I won't be watching next week. I'd rather watch a Marco Stunt on a pole match than WWE treating folks like geeks who deserve better and pushing guys like Lesnar down my throat. They ruined about 70-80 minutes of mostly good work in 10 seconds. I'd have been ok with Kofi losing if he got some good offense and Brock looked like he earned that title.
  23. Gonna be there no matter what, so I hope they do a good show.
