  1. Or, they could just never mention Bray and his puppets and Uncle Howdy ever again. I know which outcome I’m hoping for.
  2. Mrs. Tarheel is not amused, she figured UNC would get at least one NIT home game and decided we were going.
  3. This. The number of basic message board functions that don’t work here is silly. I feel like the page navigation issues has been going for.. a year? Two? Maybe more? I know there are workarounds, but I shouldn’t have to swing a dead chicken over my head and perform a voodoo ritual to go from page 2 to page 3. I don’t even think about posting links or videos. I seem to get the unspecified error message more often or not and I really don’t have five minutes to try multiple browsers then see if an editing trick will work. Copying and embedding a link from Twitter should take 30 seconds.
  4. To each their own, but I definitely thought that sequence was particularly bad. Looked like they were doing a stage rehearsal at half speed.
  5. I’m not much of a prude, but I was mostly turned off by that women’s tag team match where everyone bled buckets. I’ve never been.a deathmatch fan, but I watched a lot of CZW back in the 00’s when Mike Burns was booking mainstream indie guys like Super Dragon and Kevin Steen. I found a reason to make it through.a year of BJW back then too, but it’s not what I’m looking for in 2023 from the number two company in the US. And I gotta think it turns off at least a few potential sponsors. if I was really into AEW, blood wouldn’t be the thing that made me switch it off. But it is one factor, among others, that make Dynamite and the ppv’s skippable most nights. You can pretty much count on Mox bleeding most every Dynamite lately. I really don’t get it. Tony runs a very successful promotion that depends on tv and television sponsors to stay successful. Mox is on the short list for best in the world right now and has made millions. They don’t need to risk anyone with garbage wrestling and blade jobs, so why they keep going back to that is beyond me.
  6. Monster Bono or Yingling are probably free.
  7. LIES!!!! …. Is what I have to say because my brother, wife, and dad are alums. The preseason no. 1 has never not made the Big Dance, but UNC deserves to be the first. Underachieved all season and a terrible record against quad 1 teams.
  8. It definitely does not feel like he stepped down of his own volition. On the other hand, his post-game press conference yesterday was odd. Boeheim seemed more bemused than angry or defiant. After saying that it would be up to the school whether he returned or not, a reporter immediately said “So you want to come back?” and Boeheim responded “I didn’t say that”. Ok, that clears that up. Or not. All due respect to Boeheim, but he’s 78. I don’t really believe anyone of that age has the energy and wherewithal to run a major division I program. I’m not for forcing a hall of fame coach out, but it’s reasonable to think the game has probably passed him by a couple times by now. lol, coaching career aside, I’m kind of impressed that Boeheim has several kids in their early 20’s. Obviously, he’s made of sterner stuff than I am. I would not want three pre-schoolers in the house when I was pushing 60. Makes me tired just thinking about it. I really wanted my kids to be out of college by the time I hit 50 (close, but no cigar).
  9. At least a rental for me. Got a couple laughs out of the trailer.
  10. Sounds like four games now. Grizzlies initially framed this as a mental health issue, so he should be out at least several months. Do therapists normally put your head back on straight in two weeks? I’m not an expert, but I was under the impression it was a long-term thing. Of course, I’m not really seeing this as mental issue so much as a maturity issue and lifestyle choice.
  11. G1 is probably six months off. New Japan doesn’t usually announce the dates and start promoting it until April or May (tourney traditionally runs in August). Kinda strange if Danielson is taking six months or more off for it. i didn’t see the bit, but Meltzer thought they were announcing Danielson’s storyline retirement. Alvarez just thought he was going home for a bit. In either case, Dave didn’t think they sold it strongly. I guess they did a segment where he announced he was going home, then the show went on to the next bit.
  12. I’ve heard mostly good things about 2k22. I was planning to buy it, but never got around to it and eventually decided to just wait for ‘23. I’m not really feeling a need to buy a new wrestling game, but I haven’t bought a WWE game since SVR ‘06 and WWE is really the only option that appeals to me anymore, so it’s probably worth the money. I was a big fan of the import wrestling games back in the day, but don’t have a lot of desire to go back to Fire Pro or King of Colosseum. I am curious about the AEW game, so I’ll at least check out reviews but so far my interest level is kinda low.
  13. I figured the Shazam connection was explained earlier in the show (only saw the announcement). Or maybe the belt was going to be named the Shazam tittle. Or maybe Orange Cassidy was going to yell “Shazam” mid-match and be struck by lightning (I know he’s over, but I’d be ok with this). Tony is surprisingly low-key on-screen. I kinda expect manic energy and a hyper-excited delivery and rarely get it. I actually think he’d sell the product better if he came across as more excitable.
  14. Re: Crusher’s pregnancy. I’m guessing the answer is advances in science blah blah blah. I feel like the explanation should be “have you seen the guy I was shagging? He looked older than dirt 40 years ago. Who knew his boys were still champion swimmers?” How accessible is this season if you’re not a Trekkie? I’m not much of a fan and barely know who returnees from Next Generation are. I think I watched a bit of Deep Space Nine when it first aired, but I remember practically nothing. The talk about founders and Gem Haddae (probably misspelled) is going right over my head. I’m not even sure I remember who Odo was (melted face guy or the shirt alien with big ears?) without consulting Google. I mostly enjoyed S1 and really disliked S2, if that tells you anything.
  15. He better hurry up and share, then. Liv looks to be 15 seconds from waving over a security guard.
  16. So what does Shazam! have to do with renaming the All-Atlantic to the International title? Especially since “international title” is about as generic a name as there is. I was confused.
  17. Probably too on the nose, but they could book Walker to get “fired” after he falls asleep in Shawn’s office.
  18. I’d have to be a lot more naive to think that collusion isn’t at least possible, maybe even likely. Probably even likely. On the other hand, I can think of several legitimate reasons to pass on Lamar. Negotiating with his agent-less self is said to be a pain in the ass. There are questions about his durability. There are questions about whether or not his asking price is realistic. And there’s a fair chance that all that is really happening here is that the Ravens are letting someone else do the legwork to get a deal done. I think Baltimore matches any deal he gets offered and keeps him. I also think that, if he had an agent, a deal would already have been done without all this sturm und drang i’m generally for people making as much as they can when they can, regardless of how much they were making before, but, when you’re talking the sort of salaries top qb’s make, I can understand the reluctance to guarantee all of it. Let’s be honest here. Lamar’s top priority here isn’t staying a Raven or getting a new deal that will bring his family generational wealth. If that his was concern, he could go to the Ravens today, tell them he’ll take $100 or &120 million guaranteed for 3 years, and someone would write him out a contract on the spot before he changes his mind. Boom. You’ve just taken care of your family for the next several generations, at least, and you still have your endorsement deals and the chance to sign a new long-term deal for even more before you’re 30. Money isn’t going to stop raining from the sky just cause you signed a new contract. What Lamar really wants is what Deshaun Watson got + $1 + the shiny new pony he never got as a kid. If you can get it, that’s fine, but it’s hard to blame anyone for not giving it to you. I mean, contract negotiations are usually give and take. I feel like that, when you’re up in this stratosphere, you probably should take a little less money if you want all/most of it guaranteed. As someone on ESPN pointed out, no one blinks too much at guaranteeing Kirk Cousins’ contract because his contract, while hefty, isn’t in the same stratosphere. i won’t be too surprised if Lamar tests the free agent market and actually gets a little less than what the Ravens offered (allegedly $240-$250 million with $130-$180 guaranteed.
  19. I think I’d be very interested in a Carmelo Hayes/Johnny Wrestling feud. Gargano/Waller? Not so much. There’s a fair chance they’ll bring out each other’s worst tendencies. Not a fan of the closing angle, but I’ll see where it goes before I form too much of an opinion. None of the female heels seem like they have momentum right now, so I’m curious what they’re building for WM weekend. Not really digging Jayne or Dollin as singles wrestlers, Dollin especially seems to have taken a step backwards in terms of presentation. The hair and makeup remind me less of Toxic Attraction and more of Raggedy Ann. Neither one is a strong worker or promo and neither seems to me like they have much babyface charisma. Feel like staying together would have been their best chance for a callup.
  20. I agree with you almost completely. But….. Geno’s getting paid on the basis of one very good-to-great year out of 10. He was a backup either of those years and barely played. If the market determines that he’s worth $35 mil based only on his tenth year in the league, $40 mil for D. Jones isn’t that much of a stretch. Honesty, they’re both ogling to live overpaid, imo, so my suggestion would be whoever is behind door no. 3 in both cases.
  21. Welp, that’s one way to make $40 mil a year for Daniel Jones look like a shrewd play. I saw a lot of Geno in college - my sister-in-law graduated from WVU Law while Smith played there - and he was very entertaining, but his pro career is one bad year with the Jets, one solid year with the Seahawks and a whole lotta benchwarming in between,
  22. Things were so much better when the Russian hackers were in charge…
  23. Did Cole have a match recently? I thought he said he would be back in the ring on the ppv or sometime thereabouts,
  24. I’m trying to think of some pun or marketing slogan that would convince you “Counter Clocks” is a catchy name and I’m drawing a blank.
