  1. It’s pretty awful too. Ummmmmmm... Did the coaches play call air over the PA system? Edit: AHAHAHA First points in the XFL... A field goal. Just like the old one.
  2. BTW guys, the inaugural XFL game just started on ABC. For people who’ve been following was Vince able to find an entire league of players without an arrest record? Edit: All these fucking new rules, and it’s still boring as shit.
  3. What’s Dixie Carter up to these days? You’d think she’d want to re-team with her “cousin” again for an on camera roll? I would accept it. But I’m with @ComingToAmerica. You can’t do much with the “EC3” character anymore. The WWE machine killed it, along with EC3’s 2nd wind of ambition he had in TNA up until he was sent to Main Event purgatory.
  4. Received the City Hunter Season 1 set from Discotek yesterday. Never watched it before, but read a couple of chapters from the manga in the past, and like many watched the live-action Jackie Chan flick. I remember what turned me off from it was that I was looking for a substitute for more Cowboy Bebop, and suggestions led to this. But the main character balancing being, and a raging perv kind of turned me off. Now watching it, I think it feeds an itch I have for watching Neo-Niors with an 80’s pastel flair to it. And even though it is 80’s anime, the animation has held up quite nicely. Especially in scenes that try emulate the high action cinema of the time. Which is something that say a live action TV cop drama could never truly accomplish due to budget limitations, and unambitious TV directors. The pervy stuff is still jarring, but it’s always balanced out nicely with the cliched Japanese two-faced hero who can go from comic relief, to stoic protagonist in a matter of seconds.
  5. Fightnomics has my back. Edit: Law firm says they are investigating WWE for possible violations of federal securities laws
  6. It also could be that the guys behind the scenes are too busy producing modern footage, that they are gladly letting the old stuff fall by the waste side. But I do believe some of it is legal issues. Remember New Japan still uses their own commentary team for shows that air on Samurai TV. That’s why sometimes you see Milano talking, but you can’t hear the words coming out of his mouth. Or how about the J-Sports shows? You can watch the rematch of Tanahashi Vs. Nakanishi for the IWGP Belt, but you can’t watch the match where Nakanishi first beat Tanahasi for it because I believe that was on J-Sports.
  7. I must be misremembering things, but I remember a lot more of those smaller octagon UFC shows. Also yes there have been great UFC matches in recent years, but I still prefer those small octagon WEC/UFC matches over big octagon UFC matches. They were such a great balance of slugfest, and ground war with the fights. It was the closest TV MMA got to looking like a worked shoot fight because of all scrambling in the cage, and guys surviving chokeholds with 30 seconds left on the clock. Maybe I’m just not watching enough MMA today, but I remember those WEC shows being wilder.
  8. I think the reason we don’t get more is because New Japan only partially owns their video library. A lot of it I believe is owned by the networks that aired those shows originally.
  9. What are you waiting for? Go watch it now! I guarantee you’ll be entertained. It ain’t no 3 hour Oscar bait slog.
  10. It just felt like everything was much more razor focused on them when they had a whole promotion, and channel devoted to them. Now they feel devalued just being another belt, and weight division in the UFC. Something like Urijah Faber being on a Florida Turnpike billboard as the spokesman for a energy drink wouldn’t have happened if he was in the UFC. Being the top star of the WEC caused that. I disagree on the size of the ring. The best UFC Fight Nights were happening at The Palm inside the smaller octagons. The cage being closer really pushed the pace of the action, and created more of a scramble between both fighters to avoid bumping into the cage during a slugfest.
  11. The only way I can get into another MMA promotion, and back into MMA in general is if we get a new version of WEC again. Tiny caged rings, smaller buildings, and lighter weights. Folding WEC into UFC was the start of me turning on the UFC.
  12. Plus, it was all the selling and extra detail by Cody, his friends, his family, and even commentary who had to sell it for the TV audience. Everybody did the work that needed to be done to get it over. A perfectly executed TV angle.
  13. If you wanted maximum sound, then go with a weight belt(or laser whipping). But you’re probably asking for Cody to die on live TV at that point.
  14. My issue with Taz is that he just can’t help himself from cracking jokes on commentary. Even when he’s given a big spot on the main show. If they hypothetically move him over, then AEW will need to replace him with someone who’s just as jokey. Enter, Scotty “Raven” Flamingo.
  15. Stock is still down. Rumors of them devaluing the network must have really spooked investors.
  16. Also keep Taz off the main show. He’ll be perfect on Dark when it hits TBS since that needs a lazy Sunday afternoon baseball vibe, but Dynamite needs to be near razor focused on commentary.
  17. I hope when JR’s contract is up they use whatever they’ve paid him to instead give Excalibur, and Tony a raise. Schiavone especially deserves it with his Control Center duties, and bringing order to commentary. He’s even been doing the loud reactionary calls like he used to again.
  18. Speaking of Clark. Drew McIntyre looks so much like Clark did near the end of his career, with the great body, horribly stringy hair, a bloated face, and the Eric Bischoff dye job. Way better wrestler, and talker than him that’s for sure.
  19. Try riding up that thing on a ninja, and chucking your helmet at the statue because your dead trainer didn’t believe in you so he booked you against tomato cans.
  20. Yeah, that Riddle news is too much on the gossipy side to buy. But who knows? Sometimes Vince doesn’t like certain guys that step up, and sometimes he really likes guys that do.
  21. Hey I just thought of something. This might be a terrible idea given how obscure he is to the mainstream, but with his association with a lot of these guys in AEW, what about Mike Quackenbush for the part of the Exalted One?
