I would suggest an everyone just skip over Podcast Wars in Daxā€™s podcast and get to his incredible breakdown of The Revival vs. DIY from Takeover:Brooklyn. Absolutely incredible.

Iā€™m glad you said this. I was pretty uncomfortable and turned it off before the obvious good parts. Iā€™ll pick up where I left off.

  2. Iā€™m a fan of the angle. It gives Danielson a weekly opponent, MJF can have segments continuing the story without it being the standard long in ring promos weā€™ve seen, and with the hurt arm/shoulder it allows reasonable competitive matches to parallel when he was a dominant heel mowing through the Dark Order. It also makes sense that Danielsonā€™s has to build up his wins for a title shot, I recall him losing a bit. Bryan is a solid name to lose to MJF for his first big defense.

Danielson vs Thatcher was right up my alley. The style is very much in what I would point to where I nerd out the most. Ā Iā€™m mesmerized by the Masochist vs Sadist that was Joe vs Darby, Mox vs Hangmanā€™s tough guy story is a great feud, and Muscle Mohawk vs Innocent Cinnabon was an exciting treat. I donā€™t agree with @LF2Ā that Dragon-Thatcher was the fourth best of that lineup, but very much respect his opinion. If it gets posted online or thereā€™s a way I can rewatch, Iā€™d love to ramble on these matches in more detail.
I want to take a moment to say the @The NaturalĀ is often pretty fair in his appreciation of the American Dragon. Because he is very expressive of his love and can be excited to share as much as he can, I feel he can get dismissed as being a fanboy. He has been critical when he felt Danielsonā€™s matches or segments fell short which I respect. Something we donā€™t see too often online (mostly elsewhere) where people flip out when their favorites are not loved to the same degree.Ā

    On @Greggulatorā€™s Jade thoughts:

I was honestly hoping we were going to see an evolution of character after the Nyla feud. A talented, vulnerable, yet still charmingly confident champion. Someone doesnā€™t need to be a smiling babyface to take on the bad guys. I think a tweener can tween but how this tweening has twun, the tweener tweened wasnā€™t twed well. Not to fantasy book, but I had a brief moment of excitement for character growth and not sure Iā€™m seeing it. Iā€™m all in favor of the daughter hug, but play with that. Iā€™m even all in favor of Red Velvet going full circle to facing Jade again as a story. But something is off. Maybe ass Greg put it, Jade needs more experienced workers to work with.Ā

    Samoa Joe is so cool.

Dax seems like he needs to just let it go. Not everyone will love him, or want a handshake for a job well done. Sometimes in life you just need to take the paycheck, and be happy. Or move onto another job, and forget the previous one and their BS (the fact he wonā€™t suggests to me heā€™s not any happier in AEW, and maybe heā€™s the problem not everyone else. Which fits with who heā€™s sided with during the Elite feud too).

Yeah, seems easy to piss him off. It doesnā€™t help having a platform where the cohost is having a segment of each show bringing up someone shit talking you. Then ending with they wonā€™t bring it up again, only for next week for him to bring up new stuff.

I think within context the handshake thing was smaller part of everything. He is more mad that Road Dogg (while in a writer (?) at Smackdown) was tweeting that FTR should never make it to the main roster. Which leads to preventing them from making more money for their families, etc. A lot of this spins from that and keeps building to all other ways theyā€™ve irritated each other.

At the end of it, I do agree with you. He seems like a hot head that will address when he feels slighted. Road Dogg seems like a douche. Thatā€™s a bad mix.Ā

Eight Armed Chair Psychologist, Dr Octopus: I have two examples. ā€œSamā€ and I.

ā€œSamā€ - I liked ā€œSamā€ and we became friends. Very pleasant movie discussions and we always had different opinions on Cinema but the conversations were good that it was a lot of fun to see other perspectives. He was very much a moralist though. If anything rubbed him the wrong way he had no problem addressing it. It was less fearless and more ignorance of otherā€™s feelings of always being confronted. Even small things like writing up a print order wrong would lead him to marching across the store to almost yell at someone. It was unnecessary snd heā€™s grown as a person since then. He couldnā€™t let things go to the point of some people saying he was mean.

Me - I was a hot head for a bit. Basically, there were a few douchebags that everyone hated at my work that would be petty and condescending. I called them out when they crossed a line and weā€™d butt heads. The issue came was it damaged my reputation that I was a hot head. And I was. I could be patient with customers and chill in most situations, but Iā€™d go off the handle at certain pricks. I had to learn to just let things be and choose my battles.

If ā€œSamā€ and I had a baby, it would be Dax.

EDIT: I should say, Iā€™m not calling him a baby. Using that as a way to combine the two personalities. Please donā€™t beat me up, Dax.

He has been open about his mental health. I can very much relate to him in certain aspects which is why I like the podcast and cheer him as a person.

Where can I find the most recent comments 'Brian' made that led to Dax's response? What did Koon's buddy post or say on Dax?

It was on Road Doggā€™s podcast. Theyā€™ve been going back and forth now. Iā€™m going off of what Dax said he said, Iā€™m likely not going to listen to a Road Dogg podcast. So it could be skewed from what the actual quote was. But basically, ā€œI hope you shook Imperiumā€™s handsā€ or something like that to Road Dogg. A joke about Dax having issue with the Kliq not shaking his and Cashā€™s hand after getting jobbed out to them. A sign of respect that Dax believes in that Road Dogg made fun of saying he doesnā€™t shake peopleā€™s hands or owe anyone that jobs to him anything, etc. A lot of back and forth with those two, but Koonā€™s buddy more so said that line mockingly and Dax was irritated because heā€™s not in the business and has never met him but heā€™s being a smart ass.
Seems like a smaller thing in a series of back and forth between a douche and a hot head that was made more uncomfortable by Matt Koon trying to say his friend didnā€™t mean it mockingly and Dax saying it clearly was but ā€œletā€™s agree to disagree.ā€ Matt Koon was pretty awkward trying to say his friend is a good guy and Conrad trusts him (which was a weird unnecessary addition). Dax says if he meets him theyā€™ll either have words or talk it out over tequila. Then Matt Koon awkwardly says that his friend didnā€™t choose to be with Road Dogg but was assigned it and heā€™s sure if they met heā€™d like Dax. Itā€™s a somewhat short moment that was awkward enough that it could have been shorter but Matt Koon kept trying to twist it as not being a smart ass. Dax said he respects that heā€™s sticking up for his friend but clearly it was a slight at him.
My thing with this is that it was pretty much said or implied before that theyā€™re gonna be done responding to Road Dogg but every week we have to spend time on this. Hopefully after this week itā€™ll be done. Low key, I stopped listening (also, I guess this one is a watch along and Iā€™m not interested in that right now). The fact that Iā€™ve heard the name and now am typing Road Dogg this many times really bums me out.Ā

Rare disagreement with you, my friend. Roman Reigns losing one of the world titles telegraphs the outcome of the second night. Bigger still Roman losing with run-ins is still Roman losing. That moment needs to be saved for Roman Reigns first pinfall loss in years for both belts. Said earlier in the topic splitting both world titles dilutes the moment. I'd rather Cody Rhodes lose night one and Sami Zayn wins night two. I hope we don't get a triple threat route. Inserting Rhodes into the Bloodline angle feels off.

I still think it'll be Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes and Usos vs. Sami Zayn/Kevin Owens with Reigns/Zayn at Elimination Chamber before in Montreal.

Iā€™m not dead set on any fantasy bookings and Iā€™m sure the story will turn out well. I will say that a lesser example of this scenario would be the Hangman Saga. Kenny Omega dropping the Impact title to Christian Cage didnā€™t hurt the inevitable outcome of Hangmanā€™s arc. It allowed Impact to have their belt split away from the storyline and Hangmanā€™s victory wasnā€™t dampened. Samiā€™s arc is more Reigns/Bloodline based and Codyā€™s is more strictly title/legacy based. This being back to back nights, I do see your point, but I still think it is very much doable and all the performers involved would be able to pull it off.Ā

How they could get Cody into the feud, they have until April. Iā€™m assuming with his Rumble win, they already have a plan to weave things together. I donā€™t know how, but I totally didnā€™t see the Jey reaction happening. So even if it is Sami or Cody and not both, I'm trusting their process.Ā

The fact that Iā€™m this invested in a WWE story is astounding work! It wasnā€™t that long ago I was pretty much out on the product.Ā

  7. Split the titles: Sami and Cody win their respective WrestleMania nights. Cody on Night 1 with his Attitude Era style run ins and wildness. Roman loses and is super pissed. Heā€™s gonna kill Sami. Night 2 he almost does, but Sami pulls through. Everyone cries happy tears. Or you reverse the order so Sami gets the first win. Either way, good stuff and itā€™ll give you two home run aces. Roman gets a vacation if he wants one.Ā

OR, you have the Usoā€™s super duper beat up Sami. Like unforgivable rage-filled massacre that makes you say, Roman who? Sandpaper to the face, knuckles to the nose, teeth to the ear type beating. But even then, itā€™d take some magic to get there. Theyā€™ve done a pretty good job with this storyline (and really Codyā€™s WWE Run as well has been truly magical) that I happily canā€™t predict what theyā€™ll do and will likely enjoy the outcome. Iā€™m fearfully trusting of WWE which I havenā€™t been in a long time.

    ā€”-

As for the Menā€™s Rumble (the other match I watched, I came in late) hereā€™s random notes:

Gunther looked like Lebron on a losing Finals team. Totally protected.

Shemus and Drew looked like A-tier characters. Their constant battles with Gunther was the entire match.

Dominic is top level slimeball. Mask vs Hair with Rey and give him a mullet wig if he loses, please.

Omos looked good! First time seeing him in a long time and I loved his trash talk. The right level of reactions to strikes.Ā

Braun and Brock were protected as fearful monsters who didnā€™t win.Ā

Richochet and Logan Paul spring board dual crossbody was the moment of the match.

Hopefully Kofi isnā€™t hurt. I didnā€™t know he was eliminated until Brock was angrily circling the ring. I was hoping because his leg was still up heā€™d fly in the air out of nowhere and leapfrog Brock or something.

Great use of continuing Cody vs Rollins. With Logan Paul eliminating Seth, I wonder if thatā€™s a Mania match.

Production Value is interesting. They illuminate the wrestlers so well. They just look like stars. But the cutting is just too wild at moments. I can tell itā€™s better than it was but nothing is allowed to breath. Jump for drop kick, CUT, drop kick lands, CUT, same shot you had before. In a rumble match you of course need a lot of cutting, but mid-move same action cuts among all the other jumping around can get tiresome. Also, I wish the camera stayed on the Gable vs Woods grappling.Ā

Predictable outcome but the best choice. The end had me squirming a bit. I loved Cody getting his head pushed down by Guntherā€™s foot while they were on the top turnbuckle. Also the sleeper hold sequence I thought would end it.Ā

  8. I look at it like Avalanche and Super are somewhat interchangeable. It comes down to branding of the performers and/or terminology of the commentators. As long as whatever is said is accepted by the viewer as what that move is, weā€™re good to go. Dean Malenko defensively hit an Avalanche DDT on Jericho in WCW while he was in position to get superplexed, Liger hit AKIRA with an Avalanche DDT while he sits AKIRA on the turnbuckle and he stands on the top rope, Rich Rude hit a Super-DDT on Hashinoto while Hashimoto was crotchet on the corner and Rick Rude steps to the top to drop down, and B-Boy hit Drake Younger with an Avalanche DDT while facing towards the ring and both are on the second rope.

  9. As a WWF kid, I rarely watched WCW. Too many old guys on top and as a 7-9 year old I wouldnā€™t have appreciated the awesome undercard. Young brand loyalty. Same reason as when Big Show, Jericho, and the Radicalz came over I hated them because they were WCW guys. But the cool lucha masks and movesets on WCW vs NWO: Revenge were the undeniable reason as a kid why WCW wasnā€™t all bad. Ultimo Dragon and Rey were awesome. La Parka starting with a chair was the coolest.Ā

My first experience (or at least that I remember) with Muta was a small forum I was a part of and one of my buddies on there had Muta as his favorite wrestler. Seeing all the wild masks of Liger and Sasuke was so fascinating. But Great Muta was such a crazy character. Just this unique entity that can only be described by seeing him.Ā

History question: Was The Great Muta / Keiji Mutoh the first split personality in wrestling that was treated as different entities but also known as the same? Like the faces of Foley more than just a different gimmick. Or am I splitting hairs too much?Ā

  10. I think a lie about the company your negotiating a tv deal with blocking a tribute show so they look like the villains is a pretty dumb move to make. Maybe a lie to block the initial hiring or using them as a one time surprise, but not a lie about blocking a tribute show being on tv.Ā

Having the tv network be the scapegoated villains could be safely done backstage and/or maybe even maintain med within the wrestling bubble, but risks of the passing and health conditions of children being a human interest piece that captivates more hearts and gets outside of the bubble only for WBD to eventually deny the reports is Tony playing with fire.

Iā€™m not even saying your wrong. Tony could be ballsy enough to be lying, but I donā€™t believe he is.Ā

Side note: As Iā€™m typing this, itā€™s pretty ballsy to out that there even was an executive(s) in the first place! I donā€™t know anything. Maybe Gregg is right. Maybe this whole thing has been a lie from the beginning. The Jacksonville Jaguars money. Follow the money. Is Tony Khan even actually related to his dad? Tony has been posing as Shadā€™s son since the beginning to get the money to open up his own wrestling company. But follow the money. Is AEW making money? The books are closed. I assume not, especially with the contracts theyā€™re giving out and the companies theyā€™re buying. Nick Wayne isnā€™t even an adult yet. Child labor. Follow the money. Does Tony (if that is his real name) want AEW to be profitable? Maybe just look flashy and cool to con it on some suckers. Pull a fast one like a hot Chevy on the corner with a For Sale sign that when you open up the hood after you buy it the engines held together by old paste and rubber bands. Snake oil salesman. Follow the money. Who would be in the market for a wrestling company that looks hip now wow and money isnā€™t an issue? Follow the money. The true Saudi Government handshake deal with Vince to buy the WWE fell through after some pesky twitter accounts foiled their plans. Theyā€™re looking for the next best thing. If you canā€™t get Sami and Kevin, who are the next best Canadians? Kenny and Chris! Follow the money. Winnipeg could be Quebec with a little love, glitter, and long bread. Tony wants to sell AEW to the Saudi Government. Twitter will be too invested in being mad at this imaginary WBD executive. By the time the deal goes through, people will be ecstatic that they donā€™t have to witness Ruby bleed again. Follow the money.

I really don't understand this debate. Whatever the issue was, it's been resolved. Does the timing truly matter?Ā

I think, and apologies if Iā€™m misrepresenting you, @GreggulatorĀ believes the WBD executive excuse is either made up or a scapegoat for the Briscoes not being a part of AEW earlier and the Tribute Show being on Dynamite.Ā
I donā€™t think the debate is on the timing of the tribute.

True or false, we should always blame Corporate.Ā

  12. Buffalo Bills Offensive CoGordinator, Ken Gordseyā€™s picture did not appear for me. I will patiently wait for the completion of this bit.

Edit: Parks n Recā€™s Chris Traeger, played by the famous Rob @Gordlow, edited his post and the pictures are now up. When I get money I will fly to Osaka and drink with the Gordsaka pro Wrestlers.
