  1. So, whether or not it's a thoroughly-developed or or deeply-considered perspective notwithstanding, people should refrain from posting any opinions in this forum unless you happen share their point of view? Great attitude to have as a moderator on a message board.
  2. Anyone else Mourinho can banish to the reserves as a scapegoat for their start this season? The kit manager for using too much starch, perhaps?
  3. I went with PC for PES 2015, and it was great having the mods for a single-player experience. However, in the rare instances that I was actually able to connect to anyone with an online match, it was often a lag fest or a disconnection as soon as a clear winner was established. The player base just isn't there on that platform, anymore. Additionally, Konami is apparently putting most of their weight behind the PS4 version - I was also able to sell a friend with a PS4 on trying out this year's edition, so that made my choice pretty easy.
  4. Yeah, the damage caused by LVG's approach to the national team's philosophy with WC14 coupled with almost an entire generation of players between Van Persie/Sneijder/Huntelaar's era and the likes of Depay/Promes/Cillessen failing to live up to potential (see Strootman, Kevin - though no fault of his own, he looks done) means we could see another era like the early 1980s for Holland coming up soon. It's almost as though fortune just will not allow both Holland and Belgium to be simultaneously strong on the world's stage, as the Red Devils' prior rise to prominence came in the wake of Holland floundering after 1978's heartache. Bringing Hiddink back was an ill-conceived idea, and Blind should have got some experience at the top level instead of being quickly thrust into the role based on his playing days (has that ever worked anywhere)? If De Boer can get Ajax back on track (there's been something of a worrying decline there over the past couple of seasons), he might be the galvanizing force the team needs. We'll see, though, they're not COMPLETELY out of the tournament...yet.
  5. I'm still playing FM13, I generally make some occasional edits here and there with the included editor (adding young players/adjusting potential for young players who turned out be good, I leave transfers alone since the game is still starting in 2012) and I'm fine with that. Prior to that, I played FM 10 for three consecutive years. So, going by that, I should be due an upgrade...but I just haven't seen enough improvement in engine with these latest editions to warrant ditching the database I've crafted over the years. Yeah, the FIFA 16 demo is just kind of...there. It's a step up from 15, but that isn't saying a lot. AI plays the same regardless of team chosen, and it's way too easy to just push forward until you see an opening and hit the through ball for the easy goal, even on World Class difficulty. They have made some strides in getting the pace of the game to resemble actual football, but I have a suspicion that might go out the window with a patch because of ADHD teenagers complaining that it's too slow/difficult (which happened with last year's game). I still might get it for PC, just for the sake of having an alternative for online play. But yeah, as mentioned above and earlier, PES just feels more dynamic and like an actual struggle for supremacy. Can't wait for its release on Tuesday, I've got the digital version pre-ordered.
  6. Wolfsburg spending that De Bruyne and Perisic money like a drunken sailor. It's as though they actually want to challenge for the Bundesliga through reinvestment, or something.
  7. I am also on PS4, having a blast with it. It has honestly justified my purchase of the console.
  8. They also missed the penalty for Thauvin's foul on Bellerin in the box shortly before the red card.
  9. I've researched this issue a little, and most sources seem to agree that in Sweden to say a team is playing like pigs is akin to the English referring to a team like the Delap/Pulis-era Stoke as "agricultural" or "bullish".
  10. So I've been on the PES 2016 demo for a week now, and I'm pleased with what it is, which is minor tweaks on the game play from 2015 and slightly more fluid animations and control (particularly while dribbling and in the tackle). What you mentioned about the differentiation between Robben and Pogba, that's the player ID and one of the elements that has me glad I returned to the series. It definitely has its issues with the lack of fouls (referee AI?), overly-clinical shooting inside the box by the AI on Superstar difficulty, and outdated menu interface/things like replay cameras available, but that's minor compared to my mounting concerns with EA that reached a head with FIFA 14. With FIFA 15, every player had virtually identical physiques (thin waist/overly-buff/tight jerseys showing off their guns and boxer-like shoulders) and played the same. The only stat that really matters is pace/dribbling, and the game has basically been taken over by the even-more arcade-like FUT mode, which has even faster game play and stupid AI - like keepers never getting a red card because they came out and admitted it was too difficult to code for online gameplay (?!?). This year's iteration is supposed to be a reversion to a more tactical pace like FIFA 13, but I'm not thrilled by what I've seen thus far. Basic dribble animations for players are about 1.5x as quick as they should be, the dreaded catch-up logic (45' and 90' goals) is still there, build-up from the midfield remains an afterthought. Graphically, I agree, the faces and player models of PES are better than FIFA, but I was more speaking toward the overall picture of the menu interface, scoreboards, crowd, stadiums, pitch, etc. FIFA's player models all have this weird dead/lifeless look to their faces that remind me of the Autons from Doctor Who or something. That said, I may end up getting both if the online mode in PES is as hit-or-miss as it was last year. You've got one week after launch date, Konami - I'd rather play just one game for offline and offline purposes, if at all possible.
  11. Congratulations to new Premier League champions Leicester City. Hopefully next season for the Gunners will prove a successful promotion campaign and we'll be able to stay up with the big boys in the following season.
  12. I love the booking logic of "push someone because they're awful in the ring and the crowd boos their inability to wrestle and resents their prominent status as a featured performer". This is some real next-level shit. Raja Lion could have been deemed a worthy Triple Crown Champion by certain corners of the Internet, he was just a few decades early.
  13. PES 2016 looks like it's going to destroy FIFA 16 in terms of gameplay. All EA really has over it at this point is better motion-capture and licenses of Premier League and Bundesliga, and even that's starting to tilt with Konami securing the exclusive Euro 2016 license and option files being confirmed for the PS4 on this edition.
  14. What do you say now, Steve Smith?
  15. It's definitely won the Evolve Memorial "Game For Which No One Else on the Board Really Cares But Big Fresh Posts About It Every Day" Award.
  16. It's Gregg's default strawman argument whenever someone doesn't gush over a worker like he does. See earlier this year, when he claimed that no one would have a problem with the Roman Reigns push if he'd come from ROH or NJPW.
  17. So glad that we still have you around to keep the things that matter in perspective.
  18. In this photo, the referee is clearly telling Jean Beliveau that he had better get that C off of his jersey before the NFL adopts it about four decades later.
  19. Yeah, so I've kind of splurged a bit with this Steam Sale. Here's what I've bagged thus far: Surgeon Simulator: Anniversary Edition The Banner Saga This War of Mine Prison Architect Victoria 1 & 2 and all DLC bundle Crusader Kings II: Europa Universalis IV Converter and Way of Life DLC To The Moon Hate Plus LISA The Banner Saga Killer is Dead Napoleon: Total War Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Sengoku Jidai and Saints and Heroes DLC Gunpoint Kentucky Route Zero Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition Magic 2015 Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends One Way Heroics Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
  20. Can you also provide the winning lottery numbers?
  21. Since there's an established and objective method of determining who "wins" a gaming conference, one should use that reasoning to dismiss another's opinion of what won it for them.
  22. Says the board's biggest champion of that hotbed of gaming activity that is Evolve.
  23. When did you get such hatred in your heart? It was a mediocre game and a really dumb franchise. Of all the things people hold dear for games, this is like that football phone that a hoarder just won't give up. "This thing that people are excited for is stupid and I have this well-constructed and relevant analogy that I'm going to use to piss on their parade. Bow to my superior gaming tastes."
  24. The official announcement of Shenmue III (they're at over $480,000 of the $2 million goal in under half an hour with 31 days to go, I'm pretty certain reaching the actual mark is a formality at this point) for me right now is like the Rapture.
  25. You're Dutch. Still applies.
