  1. In my biggest money league, where I'm in first place, most of my team shit the bed hard yesterday, as in like 8 points total from my running backs and Aaron Rodgers being miserable. However, Dez Bryant and Connor Barth went off, and my opponent had an even bigger bedshitting, and I made it to the championship. Hell, I might break even this year!
  2. Also, the posse cut started out as an amazing treat. Nowadays, with every track being Yung X (feat Y-Dawg, Z Money, Swagga Q, 2 Silly, etc) they're essentially meaningless. I might even argue that the posse cut (and bastardization of the Wu-Tang model) led to the current state of hip-hop where being able to drop more than 16 bars is considered mad skills.
  3. not a single rapper on the Ruff Ryders could hold a candle to the Hit Squad, and yes that includes K-Solo and DAS-EFX.
  4. Oh, UT (and possibly OU) is definitely happy to have things stand they way they are now, many still consider not having a CCG to be the easiest (and fairest although some of that is PR) path to the playoffs. However, If UT were ever to get screwed out of the playoffs the way that TCU just did, they would most definitely start looking for a way out. We also have a new AD and will soon have a new University President, so that might change some things up.
  5. At the risk of echoing shit that's been posted on a thousand shitty football message boards, I don't think Texas and OU are going anywhere for a long, long time. The rest of the Big 12 schools know those two are their meal tickets, and they won't let them go anywhere without a serious fight. Baylor won't want to be left out of the party, and they still have outsized political pull, plus Ken fucking Starr as university president. Even if Texas and OU found a way out, I don't figure the PAC 12 would want part of OSU or Tech. I'm hoping this leads to more hilarious Chip Brown claims that ND, FSU, Clemson, etc are gonna join the Big 12 any day now. It's been too long since we've had a new one of those. In order to keep the Big 12 together as is, all of the teams signed a Grant of Rights which basically locks everyone in until 2025 or so. If a school leaves, they have to fork over all of the TV revenue they earn until the end of the GoR. It's allegedly ironclad, but I suspect that if UT and/or OU ever seriously wanted out they would find a way. Baylor's pull last time around was all about Bob Bullock (and to a lesser extent Ann Richards). Tech will be included before Baylor, because of a desire for creating more Tier 1 public universities in the state of Texas. At this point, the Big 12 is on life support, with UT and OU as the only two athletics prizes. All of the other conferences are aware of this, and know if they want one or both of those schools, they're going to have to accept little brother. For the record, it wasn't just Chip Brown who was hearing that FSU and Clemson might be up for grabs after Maryland bolted. The ACC took care of business, unlike The Big 12.
  6. Rice might have some potential. Opens up the Houston market and lets them slot in as the Vandy-type school that can stay competitive. The Houston market for football is already essentially owned by UT and A&M.
  7. Back when the Big 12 added WVU and TCU, they should've added Louisville and either Memphis or Cincinnati. It would've made sense at the time. If the Big 12 were to expand (and again I don't think it will, but I don't know much) look for them to expand into Louisiana and/or Florida. Would likely add 4 teams, so someone like Cincy or Memphis as a closer team for WVU, maybe BYU (the Sunday thing is a big deal for baseball, which is huge in the Big 12), and teams like USF, UCF, and/or someone like Louisiana-Lafayette. My personal dream is for UT and OU (and probably Texas Tech and Okie State cos of politics) to go to the PAC 12.
  8. I can't see the Big XII adding anyone, at this point it's either going to fall apart after the current TV contracts and Grant of Rights expires, or someone is going to find a way to blow it up beforehand. The lack of a CCG will be irrelevant once Texas and/or OU get their shit together, as it's clear that national and historical status matter the most.
  9. Texas A&M WR Coach and ace recruiter David Beaty to Kansas as head coach. Another Air Raid guy, and can probably pull a few solid high school kids from the state of Texas every year.
  10. I stopped watching all the Storage Wars shows when they became really bad and blatant about planting objects, not to mention insanely overvaluing things. I do miss seeing Jenna from Storage Wars Texas though...
  11. And Nebraska shocks the world by hiring Mike Riley away from Oregon State.
  12. Like the SEC, we have a couple of elite programs (although my own is still rebuilding), some hot up-and-comers, some mediocre, and some bad. We just all play each other. Hell, Baylor has even figured out the "schedule a bunch of OOC patsies" part out.
  13. Insane numbers being thrown around for that, too. Feels good to be on the other side of the coaching carousel this year, and glad we got Coach Strong when we did.
  14. In fact, on the io9 shot-by-shot dissection of the trailer, someone pointed out that Daisy Ridley's goggles are salvaged from a Stormtrooper helmet. Also, Andy Serkis has been confirmed as the voice of the animator. The link is a great read.
  15. Great succinct review. Saw this over the holiday with my GF and my mom and we all loved it, although some parts got a little violent for mom (she's 68, I'll forgive her). I really wish I had gone to see it on the big screen back when it was out.
  16. I really can't stand Joaquin Phoenix, so that is lost on me.
  17. So I saw Birdman last night and one of the trailers was for Blackhat and I laughed my ass off. Inherent Vice also looked just terrible. I don't know how to embed videos, but I presume y'all know how to use Youtube and Google if you really wanna watch the trailers.
  18. I've been very lucky in this regard in this league, because it's a free league. All my pay leagues have been tough. Also realized I'm playing you this week, clash of the titans!
  19. hardly anyone even tries in the Emeritus League, judging by the waiver wire.
  20. Gundy at #1 shocks me. Not sure what info they're getting on that. I mean, I'm not surprised Gundy's name would be attached to the job, because he's spent the last few years making sure his name was attached to every decent job opening. Jim McElwain is going to get one of the major job openings on this spin of the carousel, though. He's legit. He could be an option at Michigan if they swing and miss on the Harbaugh/Miles/Mullen types. He could also be in serious play at Florida if the rumors that Foley doesn't want any part in RichRod because he thinks he has too much Urb in him are true. On the Texas board I'm on, someone pointed out that they had Charlie Strong as the odds on favorite for our next head coach well before he was on most people's radar (and not just because they were obsessed with Little Nicky).
  21. Isn't Depp like one-fourth indian, though? That's not the first time he's played a native character, he also did it in his self-directed movie The Brave (which he infamously refused to release in America, saying that people here just wouldn't get it). I know it's Wikipedia, but this link says nope, not one bit.
  22. White people playing characters of other ethnicities... oh wait
  23. I really think the show got even better the last two seasons. The big change really worked.
  24. I didn't think she was bad this week, finally dropped her shitty Eartha Kitt tribute and talked like someone who was actually pissed about something, rather than overacting because "comic books".
