  1. The 2nd best part about tonight was the dude from Boston at the bar slowly falling into despair as the Panthers games got later and later. The Bruins and Penguins battling to see who does the biggest bed shitting has been so fun to watch. Go Sens go.
  2. We've all been waiting for him to turn back into a pumpkin at any moment.
  3. ALSO PLAYOFFS MOTHERFUCKERS! Although, jebus, Wheeler when you have two chances to end games, you gotta do it. Having to wait for the Flames to finish off the Kings was murder.
  4. elizium's Official NHL Pure Evil Rankings: 1. Toronto Maple Leafs (Duh) 2. Philadelphia Flyers (I don't even really know why, this team has always just pissed me off) 3. Calgary Flames (Fuck Lanny MacDonald's mustache) 4. Minnesota Vikings (My hatred of them crosses all sports) 5. Minnestoa Wild (They might hang out with the Vikings or something) Sorry, the Blues don't make it.
  5. The "Department of Player Safety" reviewed the video, and decided that crosschecking a dude in the back of the neck is okay if the puck is near him. I guess the added rubber in the area takes away from the danger to someone's neck.I gotta be honest, I don't see that as suspension worthy. 2 minutes or 4 minutes, nothing more.Don't worry about it, it's what they do: Whine about how the Blues are pure evil while having a complete inability to realize there team isn't exactly clean. Oh, the Jets are definitely not a clean team, they have a well deserved rep for shenanigans. I think 4 games was a bit harsh, but I fully believe that Buff should have been suspended. Doesn't change the fact that the Backes crosscheck was exactly the same, save for the fact that the puck was somewhere in the vicinity.
  6. Has anyone checked in on the dog? On all fours, they're in perfect cross-checking position.
  7. Looks like we're in for an epic bloat-off between Farrell and Vaughn.

    Best sport books?

About halfway through and enjoying it immensely, but not surprising since their isn't much in life I miss more than the Expos. I'm literally 2 pages away from Blue Monday and I think I need to stop to prepare myself. I was one when it happened, but I've been dreading getting to it. The 94 strike too, that's going to be my Red Wedding. One thing that strikes me as I'm reading it is the feeling of how doomed the Expos always were. It's honestly surprising they made it almost 40 years. Awarded the franchise and then only having a few months to put together a front office, minor league system, get a park and draft and sign players before hitting the field. Jarry Park not even being fit for temporary stadium and having to use it for a decade and then getting stuck with the Owe, when they finally do get a stadium. As much as I'd love the Expos to come back and there's currently a big push for it, it's never going to be feasible unless they have a new stadium plan in place before the team comes back. Playing at the Owe again for an indefinite period of time will just lead to failure. Big recommendation so far, even though it's bumming me the fuck out. The caricatures of important players sprinkled throughout the book are charming as all hell.
  9. Yay Adam Beach, he's a good dude. Although wasn't Ravan East-Indian? Why is Hugo Strange so young? Oh well, still excited.
  10. I read that as an egg assault and was momentarily upset that people would get so riled about some harmless hijinks.
  11. Oh shit, that's right. I forgot that it's set up for the Pacific team to finish 3rd, even if they're lower in points than Minny. Nvm my previous post. Although I still want the Kings to win, so the Jets have a chance to knock out the Flames on the last day
  12. Jets beat the Avs and the Kings bounce back and beat the Flames, the Jets would clinch the first wild card and likely a match-up with the Blues. Honestly though, Ducks, Blues, Preds, I don't care, just make it in.
  13. Buff should have done a better job of picking his spot and did it during a scrum for the puck. "He's not an asshole, that's a hockey move."
  14. So, I guess we can expect Backes to get 4 games for crosschecking Stuart in the neck twice at the end of the Jets/Blues game?
  15. That game is definitely going to OT. /pessimistic fan ovah here.
  16. Winnipeg gets St. Louis tonight. Calgary and LA get....Arizona and Edmonton. The Jets aren't going to make the playoffs at all.
  17. Was it Pat Tabler? That seems like the kind of thing he'd say.
  18. Because John Ford is the best, you can also add Henry Fonda, his muse before Wayne. Grapes of Wrath, My Darling Clementine, Drums Along the Mohawk, Young Mr. Lincoln and especially Fort Motherfucking Apache (with Wayne as well) were all absolutely fantastic. It helps that he has over 130 credits and worked for 60 years or so, but Ford has lots of fantastic multiple collabs with some great actors. Will Rogers, Victor Mclaglen, George OBrien, Maureen OHara and pretty much the best recurring supporting cast, led by Ward Bond. I'm less familiar with his silent serials, but a lot of what I read praises the heck out of his work with Harry Carey.
  19. That may be, but they haven't made a movie together in 20 years.
  20. It might be low cal, but it's still high in protein.
  21. John Waters was a terrible choice to leave in charge of selling merch, he just took all the photos home.
  22. You're free, horse! Never stop running!
  23. Naw, he's great. Shit play on that last goal though. Oooooooh, you mean the crosscheck? Yeah, sorry about that. Buff's a rough player, but I don't know what he was thinking there. He gets a lot of penalties, but he's usually not a dick with his stick. Of his 41 minor penalties, only 7 are for hooking (4), slashing (1), high sticking (0) and cross checking (2). It was kind of ridiculous that the one on Miller last night wasn't called at all, though.
  24. I have a feeling that the season is going to end with a flash forward to Saul in Omaha, seeing a news report about the Sandpiper case finally being settled after years in litigation and realizing he'll never see that money.
