  1. Personally, I'm more interested in Gaiman/Buckingham Miracleman than I am in virtually anything else announced this week.
  2. My prediction for an all-women's PPV: Every woman on the roster will be booked in a match. Except Becky. None of us will be surprised.
  3. I've been sending Marvel letters explaining why Wolverine should have fire powers for 12 years now, so I'm pretty happy. Poor dude was way underpowered.
  4. I think he broke it in this match, but just noticed.
  5. I'm going to take Marvel not sending a cease and desist order as confirmation that there's something to the rumors that Byrne will eventually do another Marvel book. 'I'm the only person who liked X-Men: The Hidden Years, so I'm interested in this.
  6. I'm not too enthusiastic for Morrison on GL. Creative reboots where the character flies off into space/another dimension/the Microverse/whatever rarely work for me, and don't usually sell that well - usually because the writer jettisons the entire supporting cast and rogues gallery and tries to tell stories with an entirely new cast and villains who often aren't that interesting. Granted, most of the writers trying that don't have Morrison's talent and the GL mythos lends itself to space stories. Still, I can imagine Morrison compensating for the lack of recognizable faces by going all grand guignol weird and telling stories about Hal's new girl-friend, the ominsexual from Persei Omicron VIII who pitches softball like a man. Then again, DC probably doesn't care if I'm enthusiastic or not. I'm going to buy the book - probably twice (trades and at least some of the single issues). Who needs customer satisfaction when Morrison's name is get me to buy?
  7. Holy shit. i had no idea the Aquaman was real until about sixty seconds ago. I thought it was just one of those bad ideas Warner tossed around and thought better of. Now I have to google and see if the Flash movie is actually happening.
  8. Personally, I'm quite looking forward to the Shazam book.
  9. Why am I even surprised by Japan gifs anymore?
  10. Ugh. I am surprised they kept Wolverine dead this long. Though that probably has something to do with his movie rights.
  11. Wiki says Foo Fighters got together in 1994. In 1994, I 26 years old and living in Europe, working 70-80 hours a week for one of the largest accounting firms in the world. Also got married and got my MBA in night school during that same period. I listened to roughly zero music during that period, and, if I had listened to music, it wouldn't have been grunge, metal, college alternative, etc. I wasn't joking when I said Pearl Jam and Nirvana were the only two grunge bands I could name. Right now, I'm trying to think of a song title from either of those and drawing a blank. I didn't listen to college alternative music even when I was in college. With minimal effort, you could probably convince me that Dave Grohl pinned Bockwinkle for the AWA Title at the Cow Palace and I'd believe you. Dave Grohl'd best shot at me noticing him in the 90's would have involved him joining the Dave Matthews band (My wife is still a big fan).
  12. It's cute how you string random words into a sentence and pretend it means something to us elderly. After "Nirvana", the only words in that sentence that mean anything to me are for, sometimes, and the. I had no idea that Tenacious D was a real thing. Wasn't that the project with Jack Black and... some other bald, heavyset comedian? I thought that was a Spinal Tap deal for some movie or comedy special or something. Now, I feel really old.
  13. I'm not entirely sure who Dave Grohl is. He was in.... Nirvana? Pearl Jam? The Metallica lineup that had Hulk Hogan on bass? I feel old. I just named all the Seattle grunge bands I remember, btw.
  14. Reading through a thread on FPWArena yesterday and a couple other places, the guy was arrested back in April. At a minimum, it looks like people noticed he was offline for an extended period of time, but it's speculation how much anyone knew beyond that. It seems like word got out to the members because the site went down last weekend - presumably because Tiger Sword wasn't able to pay the hosting bill from jail. When the site - mysteriously - came back up for unknown reasons, a few people decided it probably wouldn't stay up and the community should move, then word started going around. Basically, it seems like a pragmatic decision to make members aware of the situation - Tiger Sword (under his real name, of course) is apparently the registered owner of the site and the person who made payments to the hosting company. It's basically his property. It's not a good look to appear as though you're sitting on this info so long as the dude kept the hosting bill paid up. That said, I don't really believe Sword was running a pedophilia ring through the website or that anyone was involved in anything too sketchy. I'm not entirely sure I believe that no one knew the dude's real name and discovered he had been arrested when he went dark. I doubt lots of people knew - presumably the longtime admin who went by C-Drive didn't know since he apparently quit the site without much of a word when he found out - but no one? I mean, at some point, Bix recognized the guy's real name and tweeted about it (not sure how long that was). I kinda miss Fire Pro Club. I was never really much into the community aspect after FPC became a ghost town and eventually died.
  15. Y'all are sleeping on the fact that WWE making Hogan all acceptable again hopefully means he can resume touring with Metallica in the near future.
  16. I was going to register an account at Critical Club - and may still - but I was really turned off by some of the comments about the situation ("Well, why does this have to affect our board, if he's not even convicted yet." That's only a slight paraphrase). I barely knew who Tiger Sword was and had no idea he owned the domain name and paid the bill, so I don't really associate him with Fire Pro. But.... it really seems like a last straw sorta thing. I was active on the Fire Pro Club boards for a long, long time. I wasn't very active on FPWArena but visited it enough to see new files fairly quickly. I used the site a bit when FPWorld went into early release, but lost interest fairly quickly. Lately, I've been surfing the site very occasionally but haven't kept up with the FPWorld news. Since I don't plan on buying a PS4 or playing the game some more on PC, it seems like a good time to get off the ride. There's also the whole thing about how long the mods and inner circle knew about this. The dude was arrested back in April; it just became widely know this week. Presumably the people running the site thought they should tell the community because the site went down a few days ago then mysteriously reappeared, but probably not for long and they decided it was time to migrate. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt but it seems a little naive to go all in on "everybody was completely ignorant" I am kinda curious about who paid the bill to get the site back up and why.
  17. Somehow I missed that Kane legit broke his ankle till just now.
  18. When/If WWE tries a "tasteful" same sex storyline, Rippa's going to get carpal tunnel syndrome from all the thread-locking he'll have to do.
  19. IMO, we're not going to have good or great title matches until they get a few people out of the title scene (both current champions, for starters).
  20. I dunno. It's obviously a botch, and there's always a risk when something happens neither guy in anticipating or prepared for, but the actual bump doesn't look horrid. I feel like I see worse bumps a couple times a month on WWE TV and probably a couple times some weeks in this thread.
  21. Meanwhile, it's just another ordinary day in Japan....
  22. Thanks. You saved me the trouble of having to say the same thing.
  23. I keep reading & hearing that Rock is the #1 movie star in the world. Imagine how huge he'd be if he picked better movies. I know his range is limited (Rock will probably never be nominated for an Oscar), but I still ca't believe he doesn't pick better scripts.
  24. When your attitude is as bad as Ki's, who needs firearms?
