  1. Took back the castle today. I was honestly expecting worse. Started building things up there a bit, since I figure it will be my exploration hub for the near future. Level 19 now, I think. I should probably at least consider another story mission at some point. Valentine has been waiting for me at his office for weeks of game time! Pumping points into charisma. Didn't realize going in that supply lines would be so useful.
  2. Got Rocket League today. It's going to be a long time until I'm any good at it, but holy shit is it ever *fun*. It's been a long time since I've had such pure glee playing a video game. This is absolutely my new go to "my girlfriend is playing something on the xbox and I want to game as well" game. Still buzzing through Fallout 4 and I started AC:Syndicate as well. I'm currently spoiled when it comes to gaming, apparently.
  3. Was way into the AAA membership I got. An hour commute each way makes that one worth its weight. Hope I never have to use it, though. -Really nice, handmade Cowboys blanket. -New wallet that holds ALL THE CARDS. I also had the sweet, sweet gift of Christmas ham. Even if I had to make most of the meal, ham is ham, ya dig?
  4. Got Lego Dimensions for my girlfriend. Watching her play the Simpsons level and shiiiit...they probably just sold a bunch of the add on junk. She loves the Lego games and I want to see how stuff like Doctor Who gets the Lego treatment. They're real good at what they do...
  5. Not on sale, but I keep eyeballing Nuclear Throne. Almost bought Portal 2 earlier as well, as I've never played it. Edit: Oh, and Undertale.
  6. Finally made my return to Corvega after initially being sent packing with my tail between my legs. Oh, how the tides turned. I occasionally get way too enraged when raiders specifically target Dogmeat. Like, I was going to bypass your shitty little base because I was doing something, but now I have to rain hellfire on you and anyone or thing that gets in my way.
  7. No, that's just Fallout. You feel like you are liable to fall to a strong wind right up until every enemy you encounter feels like a non issue. I guess I just don't remember this phase from 3. Other than Cazadores, I definitely didn't experience it in New Vegas. It's not a bad thing. Every moment of combat has a nice added tension. Usually roll around with a combat shotgun in these games. Finally found one in 4, right before turning it off for the night. Looking forward to breaking it in.
  8. Made it to Diamond City today. It was...dicey. I still feel way underpowered (at level 10). Getting better weapons, but man, it still feels like a strong breeze will take me out. I need to change the way I'm spec'ed, I think.
  9. My niece will be thrilled to hear that. Of course, she's gearing up to unleash what I'm sure will be magnificent Mario levels, so maybe the Minecraft phase has passed.
  10. I'm still in that phase where I'm blindly wandering in each direction, trying to fill in the map. Yesterday, I discovered two more settlements. The co-op with the hippy robot and the drive in. So they're my FOBs to poke further south and east. Ran up on an abandoned house that had an injured mongrel dog out front. Noticed that it wasn't a hostile, so initiated conversation I ended up healing it up and it followed me around for a bit. Didn't make it through a fast travel, though. Not sure if there was something else I could have done.
  11. Big time SECOND on this one. Best book I've read on hip hop in a good long while. I started listening to Dune. For some reason, I always had the idea that this book was way...denser, I guess. It's been a quick, fun listen so far. Not a huge fan of full cast recordings, but this is well done. The biggest fault is that there are barely audible sound effects in the background and I constantly think it's coming from my car. Almost pulled over this morning before it dawned on me.
  12. The Corvega factory flat out MAULED me. Shit went sideways real quick. Decided to go back to a prior save and explore the area around Sanctuary a bit more before trying it again. Won't be able to play 'til Wednesday, so I have time to read up on how wiring Sanctuary for electricity works. Made a generator, but it's currently only powering a single construction light because I don't quite get how it all goes together.
  13. Just ordered an XB1 (Fallout 4 bundle) which should find its way to my doorstep on Saturday. While I loathe spending that much on myself right before Christmas, I also don't spend much on myself throughout the year. I guess I can justify it!
  14. Only 4 episodes so far (one from 11.85 and three from '86), but apparently they've started uploading some NWA World Championship Wrestling shows. There goes my evening...
  15. I put an hour or so into it this weekend. Very Diablo-esque. Seems alright so far. It won't blow you away or anything, but it's solid. My girlfriend has convinced me to by an Xbox One. Probably this week. Not really hyped to drop the cash this close to Christmas, but the call of Fallout 4 is loud. I guess I can let her twist my arm on this one...
  16. Finished the new Stephen King anthology. I don't know that I *prefer* his short fiction overall, but there's some stuff here that's way punchier than any of the novels he's written lately. There's also some well tread ground. Need another evil car story? Uncle Stevie's got you covered. Overall, though, the ratio of good to "bad" definitely tilted toward the former for me.
  17. Always the right answer for me in threads like this. Lately, I've been jonesing for a new Mercenaries game. More like the original than the sequel. I guess Just Cause has largely picked up that ball, though.
  18. Buzzed through 2001: A Space Odyssey. This foray into classic sci fi continues to be a real treat. The movie is also on my pile of shame, so I'll have to give that a go as well. Started the Welcome to Night Vale novel because, while I don't necessarily have the fondness for more recent episodes, I'm glad that stuff like WtNV exists. It's about what you'd expect, I guess. It'll tide me over until I figure out what I want to read next. More Clarke? Heinlein? Asimov? Maybe dive into Dune for the first time?
  19. Finished the TTK story. Was not expecting the explosion of quests that dropped on me all at once. Digging the Dreadnaught patrol. During the course of two hours or so, I upgraded every single piece of gear I had, save for the ghost shell. Even picked up my first exotic weapon, Invective. Not even sure what quest to tackle next, though I guess I'll mop up the rest of the strikes.
  20. I randomly picked up MLB the Show '13 yesterday. Haven't owned or even played a baseball game since at least the Dreamcast. Started a RttS character because why not just dive in before you even know the controls? Love that it just skips around to the stuff my guy is involved in. A baseball game without all that pesky baseball? Sign me up! I am a defensive liability to say the least, but after a dozen games or so, my dude is batting around .400 and is driving in runs like mad. Not even sure what led me to pick it up. I'm not a baseball guy at all. That said, I'm baving a blast so far.
  21. Is there any Pro Wrestling USA footage that is specifically worth tracking down? Been watching the TV shows posted on DM and it's worth it for the Jerry Blackwell and Road Warriors matches I haven't seen, but none of it has blown me away so far. Best match I've seen so far was probably Rick Martel vs Jimmy Garvin.
  22. Finished the Petra quest. Saw a group of people right in the area near the Mars patrol spawn point, so I figured it was a Taken invasion. Sure enough, the Zealot popped up 10 seconds later and we made quick work of it. Also finished the HoW story quests. Haven't done any raids, so the latter two quests actually introduced some game mechanics. The platformy bits were fine, but I died a few times in the previous mission because I wasn't quick enough in taking out the Oracles. Onto the TTK missions! Light level is up to 226, I think.
  23. Struggling with the Taken War: Petra quest. Can't seem to get any Champions to spawn on Mars. Dumping Lieutenants left and right, but no dice. Is there a speed aspect? Number of people in the area? I've had plenty of luck in the Scablands area (and Mars in general) before, right up until the time it became a quest objective...
  24. Light level is up to 220. I'd had a bad week of drops, but I did the first TTK mission and now it seems much better. I think I replaced almost all of my gear in the last 2 hours or so. Got my first exotic. Gauntlets called Impossible Machines from an engram Xur sold me. Ran through the Stormcaller mission as well, so I'm also in the process of leveling that up. Might stick with it, since it rips through anything that gets too close. Still enjoying playing aimlessly, but I see all y'all putting together game plans, so I might soon need to figure out the end game meta and focus on...something.
  25. Finally played some Vanguard. Got absolutely wrecked. It was brutal. Ugh. Is there going to be stuff I'm essentially locked out of because I suck at PvP? Maxed my character level, light lvl is over 200 now. Played a bunch of strikes this weekend and did a few of the story quests from The Dark Below. I'm not in a hurry to rush through the story stuff, though. Still having a blast just running patrols. The gunplay in this game is damn near perfect.
