Kiyomiya-Nakajima from the Kongo vs Noah show was really good. Kenoh-Kitamiya was good and Alejo looked ready to challenge for the Jr title. I'm hyped for Marufuji-Sakuraba. Should be an interesting contrast. The Jr tag title could steal the show, Ohara/Harada is a fun team.

Ospreay won all his matches clean. I think they trust Shingo to some degree here, given he made the NJ Cup Final before all the injuries and illnesses destroyed the main event scene. I think they are trusting him vs anyone can help all a card. They announced Okada vs Cobb II and Yano vs Owens for this show today so they must really believe in Shingo vs EVIL.

All signs point to NJPW, and by extent Gedo, just not getting EVIL. I mean, what do I know. Dome attendance is hard capped so it may not even matter if the undercard is hot. I'm just a middle aged fan from America so what do I really know. EVIL finally beats Ishii after going 0-9 for years with help from Yujiro and he's a contender? I know Japanese fans tend to just go with the booking but that crowd didn't give a single fuck when he challenged Shingo. I think @Belgian_Waffle's Rikio comparison doesn't do it justice. At least Rikio had beat Kobashi's epic reign clean. EVIL blows and I say this as a man whose wife gave him a Darkness Club t-shirt last year. Even Goto during this excellent Never 6 Man tag run has more credibility and no one is buying him as a contender. Even using EVIL's NJ Cup run as justification is weak. Shingo beat him in the semi finals after EVIL had to cheat to beat Yano to get there. Why do I want to see this again? NJPW has a deep roster even without gaijin available. Hell, I'd have had Cobb roll up Okada and challenge Shingo again. That match was awesome at Wrestle Kingdom and a rematch for the world title would benefit Cobb immensely even in defeat. A strong undercard would make it viable. EVIL is a Dojo guy so I get he gets chances other can never but this is a chance too many.

Okada already tried to get what he could out of EVIL back in February. It wasn't much. Mind boggling they are running this at a Dome show. Shingo has beaten Okada and Tanahashi in this reign so Naito and Ibushi are the biggest left.

As long as he nails the signature gait, we are all good.

Evil as the next challenger is weak. I do not need 40 minutes of bs shenanigans, I'll pistol whip the next Bullet Club member to run interference. Crowd didn't seem enthusiastic about it either, dead silent followed by some polite claps. Show had been really good until then too. If you hate the long NJPW matches from earlier this year then stay away. I thought the tag titles and heavyweight title matches were excellent. I was surprised Robbie Eagles won, by submission at that. Then I thought about it, I could easily see Hiromu beat Eagles and then lose it to a BOTSJ winner Desperado at the Tokyo Dome and Hiromu moves to heavyweight in 2022. Or I'm just flat out wrong. The Ranbo was ok. Better than some previous attempts but I had a bad feeling when Chase Owens entered first again that he'd win this time. I was hoping someone interesting would win it. Blah, the KOPW title is a wannabe DDT Extreme title anyways.

I'm glad I watched this when I did. I saw Drew Parker vs Alex Colon from GCW prior to this and it's shitty finish left a bad taste in my mouth that Onita washed out. I probably should regret typing that. Anyways, Colon is such a badass that he has to kick out of a barb wire light tube swanton bomb and then pass out to a wimpy looking choke. Wow, so cool and such fighting spirit there, you are so cool and awesome Alex. Meanwhile Onita here elicits more sympathy through the beating Goto dishes out that the crowd roars when he hits a DDT through a table in the crowd, effectively turning the tide in the match. When Goto can barely survive a power bomb they know the end is near and get loud. Onita hoists him up for a second and definitive folding power bomb that barely keeps Goto down for the three. You want to see a rematch here because it felt like Onita endured long enough to land a big move and get the momentum on his side. Meanwhile a death match between two death match champions, gotta make Alex long strong in defeat because I guess no one would want to watch again if he didn't or if they didn't nail every cliche. Big thanks to @Gordbergfor the pick, sorry I'm late. It helped me relax after a stressful week. Much appreciated. @Super Ape, I'll leave this fun no crowd match from Gleat here for you. I thought it could have used another 2-3 minutes at the end but I cannot criticize them for choosing to not go into overkill mode, especially the trends this year. They both sold their injuries! They acted like things hurt! They didn't go into ten minutes of reversals and kickouts!

No, I could easily see Sid killing dudes working in any era. It just seems like the heavyweight main event style is non-existent in certain promotions. Keith Lee was a big guy who worked a middle ground between that and the current jr tinged main event style. I wonder if guys who were just bigger and didn't work faster paced matches could succeed in certain promotions. Just a passing thought.
