  1. WWE also really dropped the ball, repeatedly, with Brock. Losing to Cena in 2012, the usual self-indulgent HHH feud, never committing to Roman beating Brock. He was their biggest star because he dictated the terms, not Vince.
  2. I wonder how many new fans WWE actually makes every year and are they retaining any of them long term? Given the ratings, probably not, but I don't see how they can organically draw people in. Wrestling is not cool but Dwayne Johnson is one of the biggest movie stars out there. Just a massive failure on their part. They should want their wrestlers to be able to go out and expand into new areas. New Day has their gaming channels/shows, The Rock does movies, etc. Remember that awful game, WWE Crush Hour? Where all the wrestlers quit and go do other things at the start? A organic way to diversify the roster would be to let talent go and restock the main roster with NXT/Performance Center call ups. It would have kept things fresh. Instead The Miz, Randy Orton and others have been on TV for decades. Vince can't get out of his own way. Why wouldn't you want the talent to age out and go off elsewhere? People still know Dwayne Johnson as The Rock.
  3. There's Neil Breen and Tommy Wiseau and then there's Uwe Boll.
  4. Man, when it comes right down to it, this all just makes me sad. I used to enjoy watching Raw and Smackdown, now the only enjoyment they can provide is salivating where all the released talent will actually be able to go and wrestle. I feel bad for all the wrestlers who got released and now have to figure out where they fit in while the pandemic still has Japan, Mexico and Europe barely running shows.
  5. Funny stat going around: Following Aleister Black's WWE Release, more former NXT Champions have been released by the WWE than have gone on to win a WWE World Championship
  6. Yeah, when did anyone tower over say Okada? Fale? Give me guys having to do something different to bring the "monster among men" down. Hell, I want Miyahara or Shiozaki to try to knock him down.
  7. I can't speak for anyone but myself here but I can see him have some fun monster gaijin matches. There hasn't really been someone with that physical presence in sometime. But I also enjoyed Akebono in AJPW. I don't see Braun setting the world on fire but then again CJ Parker morphed into Juice Robinson.
  8. I want Braun going all Stan Hansen in Japan. I'm not surprised about some of the others but I'm curious why he was cut.
  9. Give me Murphy in BOTSJ. What a waste of all these wrestlers.
  10. Curious to see what it looks like then. I haven't ever followed DDT until about two years ago, wonder if they have a cage and it'll be what NOAH uses. Searching DDT cage match yields results for everything but that.
  11. Has NOAH ever done a cage match before? Curious what their cage set up looks like.
  12. https://journalismstudentblogging.wordpress.com/2021/06/01/notes-news-and-updates-from-njpw-noah-dg-ajpw/ That escalated quickly.
  13. Both the Jr Tag Titles and Tag Titles matches were good from the Misawa Memorial Show. I felt Sugiura-Sakuraba was a little disappointing. The Jr title and main event were fine, nothing special. Enjoyed Kitamiya's turn.
  14. ZERO1 announced the full field for this year’s Fire Festival tournament. A block • Fuminori Abe • Hartley Jackson • Masato Tanaka • Shinjiro Otani • Tsugutaka Sato • Yoshiki Inamura B block • Ayato Yoshida • Chris Vice • Shigehiro Irie • Shogun Okamoto • Takafumi • Takuya Sugawara I have not watched Zero One in quite some time. Not familiar with a lot of the names.
  15. I am hoping for Shingo. Begging for Shingo. I'll begrudgingly understand when Okada wins it.
  16. They do have Dominion coming up so perhaps they can figure out something there. I think waiting until the G1 is a bad idea just because of the timing. I could see a 4 person mini tournament, the two semis could be done on the Road to tour. Shingo-Sabre and Okada-Suzuki, winners face at Dominion. Too bad they just put the Never title on Jay White. All their singles champions are injured or recovering from COVID. Naito, Ibushi and Okada are all hurt to various extents.
  17. A lot of people say just use the G1 Climax to crown the new champion but it is getting pushed to the fall again due to the Tokyo Olympics that may or may not happen (I think it will). I am guessing that something is brewing though. Shingo, Suzuki, Sabre and Okada have all declared they want a shot at it. Sucks they just did the NJ Cup.
  18. On a whim decided to check out BJW Core today. Watched some of the Death Match Survivor tournament from this year. So far the best one was Hideyoshi Kamitani vs Yuki Ishikawa. I didn't know Kamitani was doing death matches now. I thought he was good there but he was great here. I loved him covering a spot where some light tubes didn't break, when Yuki finally broke them he fell forward like they were the only thing propping him up. Minoru Fujita does a kinda sorta comedy thing in his matches? I mean, I wouldn't kick out of a back slide on a nail board but it seemed odd given what lead to that. If you thought the clap only crowds sucked in the G1, try no cheering death matches! It is disquieting at first until you just kinda get into it.
  19. I watched the Nick Gage and New Jack episodes back to back last night. Found the Gage one interesting but the New Jack one was nuts. I'd seen all the footage before but not in a while. I'm shocked it was Gage that actually died (for 7 minutes) and not anyone New Jack faced. I had not seen much of New Jack in SMW so that was also a trip.
  20. I'm still holding out hope for Minoru Suzuki to win it. I know it definitely is not happening given the current circumstances. I agree, they need to spruce up the main event scene. Shingo is honestly a great pick for it right now. I imagine they play it safe and Okada beats Ibushi.
  21. Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, boom, hell in a cell is back.
  22. New Jack's entrance into the Cage of Death! And his crazy dive in the match!
  23. I'm trying to watch some of the other Cyberfight companies shows prior to Cyberfight Festival. TJPW's Yes! Wonderland show was excellent. I really liked the #1 Contenders triple threat, the Kamifuka-Noa and Tatsumi-Yamashita. I had only seen Shoko Nakajima and Yuka Sakazaki before, I liked their Ultimate Party 2019 match so that convinced me to watch this show.
  24. I actually just watched my first Ganbare Pro show the other day! Bad Communication 2021. It was ok. I wasn't sure what to expect, I do not know what their deal is. Too bad they aren't on the main show but Cyberfight really loaded it up.
