RandomAct Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I didn't see a thread for this anywhere. The premiere was this past Monday. Any thoughts? I think they did a great job of making "The Mother" very likeable, but they were somewhat ham-fisted in the "she's perfect for Ted" department.
cool arrow Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Well, they did establish that she doesn't/won't like Ted's slow driving. So that's something.
RandomAct Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 Also, they established that one the fan theories about her dying while the kids are super young aren't true.
Raziel Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Missed that, but I still believe with the ending of the 2nd episode that they're telegraphing that she dies sometime before Ted tells the story to the kids (not super young, but like, within a couple years of the kids initial ages.) That 90 more days speech from Ted last season reeks of it.
RandomAct Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 Oh yeah, I still think SOMETHING happens with her, and Ted still ends up with Robin somehow. That is my guess, but the kids obviously remember The Mother based on Ted talking about the vacation to Disneyland.
Territorial Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 FYI: For people on Comcast, HIMYM is now available On Demand. This means I can probably catch the season for the first time since s2.
RIPPA Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 The fact that they just had a Slutty Pumpkin cameo is really really... strange.... I also am amused that they made a big deal about how the Mother was going to be a big part of this final season and so far Cristin Milioti was only in the season premiere
cool arrow Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I liked seeing the Slutty Pumpkin. But yeah, the Mother's absence has been conspicuous.
RIPPA Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I also like that William Zapka is getting like an 8 episode run out of this deal.
RandomAct Posted October 17, 2013 Author Posted October 17, 2013 I must have blanked because I totes missed the Slutty Pumpkin. I've been distracted :/
RIPPA Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I must have blanked because I totes missed the Slutty Pumpkin. I've been distracted :/ It was a blink and you missed it moment. That is why it was strange. I mean Katie Holmes must be really bored that she agreed to do it.
RandomAct Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Seems like every episode so far has been in a holding pattern. Nothing at all is happening. I'm sure they are going to kick it into gear in the second half of the season, but it's kinda obvious that they didn't plan on going to season 9.
RIPPA Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Deadline is reporting that they will be a "spin-off" show entitled How I Meet Your Father. It is being created by Bays/Thomas None of the current cast would be on it but the show would be the same concept... only it would be gender swapped
Territorial Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Oh, joy. Seconded. I like HIMYM well enough, but my first thought after reading the spinoff announcement was "Kill it with fire.". Probably not what they were going for.
Shylock Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I must have blanked because I totes missed the Slutty Pumpkin. I've been distracted :/ It was a blink and you missed it moment. That is why it was strange. I mean Katie Holmes must be really bored that she agreed to do it. I thought it looked a bit green screenish, as if they edited old footage of her in there.
RandomAct Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 Kinda like when they did the bit where Will Sasso was there for all of their moments but they didn't notice?
Newb82 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Did a marathon of season 8 over the last couple days and I was pleasantly surprised. I actually liked Ted a lot more this season, and am glad to see his feelings for Robin didn't just go away when she & Barney got back together.
RandomAct Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 Dude, I loved season 8 on so many levels. It was absolutely heart wrenching for me at times, but I think it did such a wonderful job of exploring Ted. I would have been fine with them wrapping things up last year.
RIPPA Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Oh good lord - apparently they are doing an episode this season all in rhyme
RandomAct Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 I liked last night's episode. Stuff actually happened. Now that we've seen what the proposal is, I really wonder what the cap on the series will be.
Ellsworth Toohey Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 When are we going to get to post-Wedding stuff with the Mother part of "the gang" and drinking at McLaren's and getting involved in different wacky schemes?
cool arrow Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 We aren't, This season is just the weekend.
RandomAct Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 Fantastic episode tonight. Best of the season, hands down. The Cranston cameo was as awesome as you'd expect.
