TNA Impact Wrestling - Airing March 8, 2016 from Birmingham, England

 

*Dixie Carter introduced Kurt Angle for his retirement ceremony. Kurt gives a farewell speech as the fans chant "Thank you Angle".

 

*Matt Hardy promo with Rockstar Spud where Spud blamed his turn on what EC3 did to him last year.

 

*Ethan Carter III def. Rockstar Spud in an unsanctioned Street Fight

 

*Gail Kim & Maria in ring promo. Maria talked herself up as a celebrity while Gail was just married to one. Gail challenged Maria to fight but Maria refused, saying she's a lady. Gail went after Maria but was attacked by Jade leading  to a match..

 

*Gail Kim def. Jade

*Eric Young def. Big Damo, Bram, Jimmy Havoc, & Will Ospreay in a King of the Mountain match to retain the King of the Mountain championship

 

*Beer Money def. The Wolves to become the new TNA Tag Team Champions. During the match, Davey Richards suffered a meniscus injury.

 

*Grado came out and said there was something fishy about his firing but Eli Drake cut him off before he could continue.

 

*Lashley def. Kurt Angle in Kurt's retirement match. After the match, Lashley turned heel by continuing to beat down Kurt until Drew Galloway, Eddie Edwards, and EC3 made the save. Lashley first fought with Drew & Eddie before EC3 ran him off. Drew, Edwards, & EC3 all hugged Angle and celebrated with him to end the show.

Enjoyed the Angle tributes throughout the night. Fun old clips with some hot crowds for Angle/Joe and Don West on commentary. Gail/Jade and Beer Money/Wolves were both good. Angle/Lashley was shorter than expected but solid and the post-match put over Lashley strong as a top heel again. I like the little Decay music video randomly airing each week and getting longer, this time including bits of the actual song's music video. Eli Drake continues to be entertaining on the mic, dig him and Godderz as a team. Loved Angle officially passing on the ankle lock to Davey, always wished they would've run that match 1 on 1 while the chance was there.

Of course it appears that Angle also passed his injury history onto Davey Richards too

Beer Money vs. The Wolves was good, but never got great. Odd to not have Davey's injury brought up too. Matt vs. EC3 was given a blah build, while Eric Young vs. Jeff Hardy was given more build - and we got the KOTM  match on free TV with no buildup at all. Angle-Lashley was a poor version of every match they've had yet, which makes sense since Kurt was concussed at the time. Sad way for him to go out in TNA, too,
but they at least put his retirement over as a huge deal and clearly appreciated him being there for a decade.

Gail/Jade was good. Jade looked strong, even in defeat, and I hope she eventually gets a title reign.
