  1. Disco Inferno started as a complete jobber but slowly advanced up to midcard. he was never less than solid, with some damn good matches in there too. i completely concur.
  2. Um, you probably should be rooting against him then if you want to see Bader vs. Cormier. I have this strange feeling that if we see that fight, it ain't going to be for the world light heavyweight title. my thoughts as well. i wish Cormier/Jones II happened first so i had a horse in this race. i'm super interested in Jones/Rumble and Cormier/Bader, but the reverse, not so much. Always liked Bader but don't see him taking this.
  3. so i'm definitely not an anime fan (tho i LOVE Cowboy Bebop) but i recently watched the first episode of Kinnikuman from 1983 and it's awesome. unfortunately, it looks like nobody ever dubbed the series into English outside the first two-part episode. sad day.
  4. i'm still waiting for Spider-Man to find Uncle Ben's killer. he spent like half an hour looking in the first film, but then it's never mentioned in the sequel.
  5. i remember getting a WWF trivia game back in 1999ish. the vast majority of the questions asked 'what city did ___ happen in?' i had no idea the city, but could give the date and event name. made me realize that to a viewer, you only care when they're in your town. or somewhere like Canada, because that's Bizarro-Land. But all the Raws look the same, so who gives a shit what the city is? but to the wrestlers, who have to actually travel to the towns, and find gyms and hotels, it makes a lot of difference, and you probably have cities that you love and cities that you hate. Who cares if it's a SmackDown or a Raw or a PPV? you're (theoretically) giving your best performance regardless.
  6. wow. can't believe i never heard of that before. awesome.
  7. man, i just started playing Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the wii and i love it. i'm loving it WAY more than Twilight Princess. sorry for being like 5 years late on this. finally decided to play through the game before Zelda-U comes out
  8. have they announced how many issues Civil War II is gonna be? debating picking it up. less than 7 and i'm probably in.
  9. all new all different dc? fuck it, i don't even care anymore. the dc universe is beyond dead to me. just let Seeley & King do their thing on Grayson or we're gonna have problems
  10. sable is a terrible actress and even worse wrestler. but she had huge tits and posed for playboy under the wwe's umbrella. plus she's married to huge wwe draw Brock Lesnar. she'll go in, likely the year Brock goes in.
  11. to be fair, i've lived in Eastern Iowa my entire life, and when the weatherman predicts a big snowstorm, people still lose their minds. Never in my life have i ever actually been snowed in anywhere. At worst the roads are bad for a day or two but completely travelable. Our winter has been pretty mild so far this year (*knock on wood*) but usually i just roll my eyes when people start to worry about the snow and ice. Like, really? you don't think the plows will be out salting the roads and clearing snow immediately and you think you might be stuck in your house for a week?
  12. extract was funny, and better than i expected it to be, but it was no office space.
  13. how did nobody mention Super Troopers for funniest movie of the 2000s? i have literally never watched a movie that made me laugh as hard or as often as that.
  14. that has always been something that irked me as well. at worst, Christian is a good hand in the ring, a solid promo, and would inject some fresh blood into the main event scene.
  15. just noticed this is a Sunday card. they can't go messing with my schedule like that!
  16. man, that Hall-Mousasi KO is awesome. but i couldn't vote against Holly Holm changing the Women's Bantamweight divison.
  17. Masvidal-Iaquinta for me. that definitely went the wrong way. i don't know that Jacare-Romero was really a robbery. Jacare got dominated in Rd 1, had a close rd2, and definitely pushed hard to win in rd3.
  18. this was my thought process as well. i wouldn't be surprised to see him get a title shot in 2016.
  19. all solid choices, but that women's match was just pitiful on so many levels. it gets my vote.
  20. looked at the list of choices. saw Thomas Almeida, thought "he'll be tough to beat". saw Joanna Champion, thought "she's gotta be a lock". saw Holly Holm, thought "damn this was a good year!" gotta go with Joanna.
  21. I think one of the downfalls in Arlovski's game is he has to get his counterstriking started. Against guys you can time with a sundial, he's your guy because some of his technique is impeccable. The problem he runs up on with his skillset is you either got people who are about as fast with enough technique (basically someone like Miocic) to soundly beat him or people who sometimes don't throw enough offense for him to counter. The latter is what led to the dreadful fights against Schaub and Mir. Rogan brought it up in the broadcast, but I have to repeat it. It's a shame that he waited so long to leave Chicago to go to Greg Jackson and Mike Winklejohn. He might not have the chin to really be one of the HW greats, but I think his athleticism at his peak plus those guys would have got some great performances. Now, he's a bit heavier and sacrifices the movement he had earlier in his career for better defense on the feet. He's basically doing the best he can with not a whole lot left in the tank and having veteran experience. I would be fine with him fighting a Gonzaga, JDS, or somebody like that. man, people have complained about Arlovski's chin since the days when he got KO'd by Sylvia (and especially Fedor). Arlovski has always had a decent enough chin. what kills him is that his defense was complete shit for the longest time (i'm looking at you, Strikeforce run!) you can see the improvement that Jackson/Wink have made to this gap, but it's still sorely lacking. honestly, this latest UFC run is almost a fairy tale run for someone who's been around as long as him and even three years ago people were writing him off as done with no chance of ever competing in the UFC again. until the day of retirement, WAR ARLOVSKI!
  22. i'm not a man with high hopes as far as Fedor's MMA future goes. everyone keeps talking about UFC, but i can't believe that anyone thinks that is likely. my choice is Kharitonov if he wants to pretend like he's still fighting top competition or Kimbo if he's just in for a big payday/buyrate/viewer number. there honestly isn't much out there as far as heavyweight names that would move any sort of needle. Lashley possibly, but he hasn't done much in Bellator, so i doubt people would care. i see Mariusz "Pudz" Pudzianowski bandied around a lot, but i really don't see that garnering a lot of eyeballs. people still mention Randy Couture as a challenger, but he's (i believe) still under a UFC contract, plus he's been retired for like 4-5 years. i guess Cheick Kongo is an option, but seriously? could former UFC champ Ricco Rodriguez be bullied into getting into shape and be propped up long enough to be hyped as a challenge? am i missing any serious contenders?
