Meanwhile, in the NFC South, the 2-9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still, somehow, alive for a playoff spot.

And Perine has just broken the record. . .now at 427 and counting. And he's a true freshman. Crazy.
-
Melvin Gordon might have the single-game rushing record for all of one week. With 6:04 left in the third quarter in Norman, Samaje Perine of Oklahoma has 30 carries for 375 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Only if you stand up and turn around while pointing upwards at some point during the video. Otherwise, no, it doesn't count. Then again, I may be crossing my Savage promos. I don't know.

Not sure how much coverage you can expect. When they did this with Vikings/Giants in Detroit a few years ago, it was only on local FOX affiliates. Although it was available via the NFL's Sunday Ticket package on DirecTV. Not sure if CBS will treat it any differently or not.

I just picture the game being in DC and then showing mostly Super Bowl highlights on the video wall. Now Pro Football Talk is saying that Washington isn't an option any more, either. Looks like Detroit, like they did for Vikings/Giants back in 2010. Apparently the NFL hasn't even bothered asking Syracuse about the Carrier Dome, even though they've basically said "Fuck yeah we could do a Monday Night Football game here!"
-
Apparently Pittsburgh is out because there are four district championship games at Heinz Field on Friday, followed by Syracuse at Pitt on Saturday.

Schefter is now saying that the Bills might not be able to get their stadium ready for their game against the Browns ten days from now. Forget about Sun in Buffalo. Bills “will be hard pressed to get stadium ready for the next home game (Sun. Nov. 30 vs Browns)", per source. EDIT: And more from Schefter. Bills coaches are preparing with the belief that the game vs. Jets will be moved to Monday night in Detroit, Pittsburgh or Washington.

Look. . .even as a 30-year fan of the Minnesota Vikings, I am not condoning what Adrian Peterson did. Not even close. What the guy did was wrong and I don't like it one damn bit. Is it going to cause me to stop being a fan of the team? Nope. Because there was Minnesota Vikings football before Adrian Peterson, and there will damn sure be Minnesota Vikings football after Adrian Peterson is gone. But to suggest that Roger Goodell is occupying some sort of moral high ground in this situation is wrong. Like Burgundy said earlier, if the Ray Rice video had not wound up in the public eye, Ray Rice would have had a two-game suspension and be back taking handoffs from Joe Flacco. (And there's nobody that's going to convince me that Goodell didn't see said video before he meted out that punishment, because there are too many signs that say otherwise.) But Goodell fucked up that situation about as badly as he could fuck it up, and he needed a target. Peterson provided it. Peterson was supposed to have a meeting prior to the grievance on Monday with the league to "discuss" punishment. He, under the advisement of the NFLPA, did not go to said meeting, claiming it fell outside of the realm of the regular disciplinary process (which it does). Peterson's punishment isn't about the NFL suddenly finding its morality or anything like that. . .it's about Goodell getting his feelings hurt because Peterson dared to not kiss the Don's ring. And he's also paying for the fact that Goodell screwed up the Ray Rice thing, which is also wrong. Why should Peterson be punished because Goodell embarrassed himself with the Rice punishment? Yes, this was an unprecedented situation for the National Football League. That doesn't excuse the fact that Goodell spent this entire scenario making things up as he went along. "Hey, we're going to put you on this list, but once your legal case is over we're going to take you off of it, except when the time comes we're not actually going to do that and there's sweet fuck-all that you can do about it, because I'm Roger fucking Goodell and you're my bitch." Maybe in the next CBA the NFLPA will focus on something other than the u$ual. . .like not allowing a guy that works for the owners to be judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to handing out player discipline.

I don't like what Peterson did, either. Damn sure thought he should have faced some sort of punishment for it. But it doesn't excuse Goodell's conduct, either. The guy has totally been making all of this up as he goes along. They had the arbitration hearing yesterday about Peterson's removal from the exempt list. . .it reportedly lasted all of about 30 minutes, which I'm assuming means that the arbitrator pimp-slapped Goodell on his bullshit, so he decided to throw a fit and this is the result. And it'll be a cold day in hell before another player willingly agrees to go on the "Commissioner's Exempt" list, too.

Just put in my pre-order. This will actually be the first game I get in a fully digital format (getting it through the PlayStation Store rather than waiting for the Exchange over here to get it). I hope this is as awesome as it looks.

Guy on RedZone said that because the Cardinals touched it, it was basically a free play for Detroit, even if they had fumbled it back. Not sure how that works, but that's what RedZone guy said.

Not disputing the claim, but it seems like someone says that every year. . . Well, now that the Big East isn't around any more, somebody has to be at the bottom.
-
Thirteen points against a team that had given up about a million points in the previous two weeks and outright quit in both games. Stupid football.

Gotta hand it to Florida State. It takes something special to get college football fans to root for Notre Dame, Bobby Petrino, and the U all in the span of a month.

Just spent about half an hour dorking around with the Keep on the Origin site. Just randomly changing stuff here and there. . .don't know if it makes a damn bit of sense, but it should be interesting. I got about halfway through the first game before my XBox 360 gave me the RRoD. . .never replaced it and never bothered picking it up for PS3. But Inquisition looks pretty awesome, and I'm damn sure not going to question BioWare at this point. So yeah, I'll probably get this in the next day or two.

This Melvin Gordon guy is alright at this whole football thing. 22 carries, 369 yards. . .and still 4 minutes left in the third quarter. The single-game rushing record is 406 by LaDanian Tomlinson. EDIT: And Gordon has broken the D-1 single-game rushing record in three quarters of play. He's up to 408 (on 25 carries) as they move to the fourth quarter. The NCAA record is 465, set by a D-III player last season.

Stolen from Twitter, apropos of nothing: When Stanton's contract runs out, the New York Mets will still have nine more years that they have to pay Bobby Bonilla.

For everyone that missed out on the Tali hoodie.

I tried finding this on Google without any success. Is there a main site for the game?

Well, fuck, that's disappointing. Guess I can always get the original from abandonware sites.
