  1. That goal is just ridiculous. Just rewatched it again. IMHO, Mario is the greatest hockey player of all-time but what video shows is that he was also a heckuva skater at one time. I tend to think more of the half-speed-but-still-better-than-everyone-else Mario we saw toward the end of his career but the Mario who won Cups could MOVE. All hail Super Mario - only dude to score every possible type of goal (shorthanded, even strength, power play, penalty shot, empty net) in one game. The idea of a Red Wings fan saying anyone but Gordie was the greatest of all time strikes me as blasphemy. And my great NS memory was the Whalers winning a game at the old Met Center in the last second of OT on an Adam Burt goal in 1991.
  2. Rename them the North Stars and bring back the old N logo/unis. Would that help?
  3. Got a $7 ticket on StubHub for the Big East curtain jerker day tomorrow (Seton Hall vs Marquette, DePaul vs Creighton). You will probably be able to count the number of people left in the stands at the start of that second game.
  4. As terrible a show as this was, I'm almost willing to give it a pass because the Connor announcment was the single greatest thing WWE has ever done or will ever do.
  5. There is a special place in hell for anyone who would object to this. Actually I take that back, even satan wouldn't want to be associated with them.
  6. Inducting Connor was the single greatest thing WWE has ever done.
  7. If he outright said that I hope Kelly sues him for libel. The fact that ESPN employs the guy is a disgrace, but I guess that tells you all you need to know about them valuing screaming fools. Didn't outright say it. Did heavily imply it. Basically, he brought up the Riley Cooper n-word incident, then went over some of the Eagles' recent player cuts - all the while saying things like "Well, some of these moves make brothers uncomfortable" and "I guess Riley Cooper is Chip Kelly's kind of guy". Probably not quite libel/slander. The real surprise was when Skip Bayless agreed with him. I guess Skip couldn't think of anything idiotic to say on his own (or somehow get Tebow into the conversation) and felt he had to contribute somehow. That reminds me of the time Bischoff said Bruce Mitchell had a lot in common with disgraced pedophile ML Curley. Mitchell sued and the case was quickly settled out of court. He didn't come right out and say Bruce was a kid toucher but like Screamin A it was obvious what he was saying. I'm no legal expert but I'd think Kelly would have a strong case.

  9. Something to think about while watching all the shitty games that littered MLS week 1: league is going to expand by at least 4 more teams in the next few years. But don't worry, this is all part of Garber's plan to be a top league by 2022 by diluting the league's tallent pool.
  10. Slim and None by Howard Baldwin is great. Dynasty by Greg Pratto on the Islanders fron 72-84 is also highly recommend. But the best sports book ever is The Bad Guys Won by Jeff Pearlman on the defining team of my youth: the World Champion 1986 New York Mets. Go out and get it, just trust me on this one.
  11. One step closer to McEichel baby! And the Laffs are officially the Knicks of hockey. Hey, there's a great trade that should be made this offseason: Kessel for Melo straight up!
  12. Was at the Sixers game tonight and there was a 50% off sale on all Sixers merch (including jerseys). So I used my $50 in stored value to get a personalized jersey with my last name and the #12 (actually cost $42.50 to be presice). I was just sad that there was no plush Franklin for me to love and cuddle. But anyways, Sixers with the big win so my jersey is now officially lucky. Started off bad (Noel gets blocked twice in a minute, whathefuck?) but they didn't quit when it would've been awfully easy to do so. This team is so easy to like, and I gladly renewed a few days ago. One funny note is that there was a leak in the roof that forced them to close off an entire section in the upper deck (started during the Nova game earlier in the day and for that game I had the misfortune of being in that section. Worst thing is that game was packed so there really wasn't anyplace to go).
  13. Post above got a like just for mentioning being part of a pitch invasion in the ROI league. Fuzzy isn't a fucking glory hunter!
  14. Shitty NBA writers writing about sawker as a side gig while doing work for a team and kissing the front office's ass are a blight on humanity.
  15. I read somewhere that, even in their current state, the Sabres are a huge ratings draw on national TV. I can't remember where, though. That is correct. We are machosists whose suffering is being inflicted upon the entire nation because so many of us tune in to the games.
  16. MLS players have less economic freedom than North Koreans, so I don't blame them one bit. The single entity con job makes MLS look like a complete laughing stock and the owners, er, investor/opperators are almost all slime.
  17. I am not joking when I say that the Sabres have probably been on national TV more times this season than any other NHL teams. That has to be a violation of the Geneva Convention right?
  18. Just finished the Gordie Howe autobiography that was released last year. Highly recommend fun read. Also finished a book called Birth of a Dynasty on the 1980 Isles that made for interesting reading. Never realized how close Roy Bowe's financial plight came to killing the team just before the glory years. He owed the Rangers an indemnity and they took him to court. According to the book, they wanted to leverage the debt to force the Isles to give them Potvin. Imagine how that would've changed history. But Pickett stepped up and saved the day.
  19. No because it would block too many shots.
  20. Murray recognized our glaring strength (goaltending) and addressed it by getting rid of Neiverth #Tank4Connor
  21. The video with ODB and the Briscoes training on the chicken farm was the greatest thing ever. GUNS N' NATTY!!!
  22. Steve Mason's ass just got saved.
  23. Knicks should pay tribute by knocking any Raptor who tries to drive the lane flat on their ass.
  24. Knicks should pay tribute by knocking any Raptor who tries to drive the lane flat on their ass.
  25. Greg Gutfeld hosted Red Eye for the last time last night (he's going to be doing another project on FNC). Really going to miss him because he is freaking hilarious. Hope Andy Levy takes over for him (would've wanted Gavin Mcinnes but he probably would get kicked off the air within a week for offending someone). Sherod Small would also work for me.
