  1. NSFW but suitable for Christmas as it's Die Hard (1988):
  2. Seeing Kevin Conroy, the voice I hear whenever I think of Bruce Wayne/Batman playing Bruce Wayne/Batman on screen is a moment Conroy deserves as do the fans. Also good to get Brandom Routh back as Superman as he was dealt a bad hand with Superman Returns (2006).
  3. This video was released yesterday as Daisy Ridley talks through the throne room sequence.
  4. Things I recall from Spectre: the opening tracking shot on the Day of the Dead, the fucking terrible Sam Smith song, Batista's underused, Christoph Waltz Blofeld's silly reasons for wanting revenge on Bond and the running time's too long.
  5. Speaking of Frank Miller, I recently read for the first time... All Star Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder #1-10 is written by Frank Miller. Jim Lee does the artwork. The series retells how Dick Grayson becomes Batman’s sidekick, Robin. Along the way other characters appear in Batgirl and Green Lantern. Going in I was aware how panned it was and that infamous Batman line: “I’m the Goddamn Batman” to Dick Grayson in #2. Batman uses the R word before that. No, just no. Even knowing the contempt for the book, I was still taken aback at how bad this is. Batman’s characterization is something else, he’s abusive to Dick Grayson including telling him to eat rats if hungry. Batman is very violent here. A grunting Neanderthal. #10 had to be recalled because you can see the swear words through the black bars with multiple uses of the f word and the c bomb to Batgirl. Only positive things I can say about the book, Jim Lee’s art and #9 for the measures Batman and Robin take to Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern.
  6. I've read the above and Dark Knight Returns: The Last Crusade. On my to do list is Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again and Batman: The Dark Knight - The Master Race. Thoughts on any of these?
  7. I'm predicting now that Roger Deakins takes Best Cinematography. Said it earlier, he should be on 3 or 4.
  8. I think those are likely. Rocketman has an outside shot. Joker will probably miss out. Little Women might make it, ditto for Knives Out and Judy. Best Actor is a loaded field. You'll get people missing out and some trying to get into Best Supporting Actor to better their chances.
  9. Haven't seen La La Land or Moana. Great shout about Blame Canada missing out on Best Original Song. That's terrible. You bringing these up reminds me of another, The Star Spangled Man With A Plan from Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) wasn't even nominated for Best Oroginal Song when it was the best that year.
  10. Cathy Kelley's great.
  11. Joker to Mur-Ray.
