  1. You shouldn't be. The Arena Anarchy match was a glaring flashing blinking light as to what Jericho's hair really looks like. He has a pretty bad Shawn Michaels thing going when he can't keep it dry. Almost the Bill Murray from Kingpin. I noticed this the night of the PPV and had assumed Jericho watched the match back and decided he didn't want that to be his look. But instead of a radom hair style change he went old school and went to TK about a hair match to get something positive out of it.
  2. He came off the top rope. That counts as going over the top. You're coming off the top. Off the top = over the top regardless of how you get there. You've cleared the threshold of the top rope and landed on the ground. You're out. It isn't the NFL where if you go out of bounds you have to re-establish two feet in bounds before anything you do counts.
  3. Woof... They have to STOP DOING CASINO BATTLE ROYALS. The format sucks. Everyone's shine is missed by the next guy's entrance. Too much is happening and you can't make sense of it. Darby did a Coffin Drop from the top to the floor, how is that not an elimination? Garcia & Kingston went through the middle rope, how are they eliminated? These fucking suck. Bite the bullet and switch it to a regular Royal Rumble format already. This was the worst one of these yet. They keep getting worse. So why are there flags for China & Japan (which are not in the Atlantic by the way) on this title? Why do they need another men's single's title? Why does it have to have such a convoluted name and concept? All-Atlantic is the worst name for a title (outside of 24/7, but that's a comedy prop not a real title) in national wrestling history. The design is also VERY close to The Women's World Title and this is *not* a good message to send. Women's Top Title equal to Men's middle of the card title? To have someeee positivity here I thought David Finlay looked great and his match with Hangman was good. O'Riley was a bad choice to face Moxley but the match was hard hitting and dope. Wardlow is going to squash Scorpio Sky eventually, that'll make the TNT Title seem important again. But is that now the TV Title (third in line) and the All-Atlantic would be The US Title (second in line)? Pac v Murphy was solid too, but they did not kick it into that extra special gear. AEW is making some choices that are not my cup of tea here lately. I'm still very pro-AEW. But TK needs to start getting some input on these weird ideas. No one is going to have 100% good instincts. And some of his worst ones are starting to show through.
  4. I really like that idea. Here's where you run into an issue, that is a full on demotion for Rosa. You aren't going to get her to go along with that. Sure saying we'll use you more with the TBS Title because that is more like the workhorse title seems like a good carrot to dangle. But it's an instant 'we made a mistake' vibe sent to her. It's all a work, but the personal pride and professional egos involved in decisions like that are why you don't ever see them. Has a similar switch ever happened? World Champ takes mid card champs' title, only for mid card champ to then take World Title shortly there after?
  5. As a casual gamer I love the original Sonic games. Sonic 3D is where they lost me. Just lost all sense of direction in a 3D environment for that character. Mario worked in 3D because he jumps around and squishes people. He doesn't run into a ball flying at the speed of light. Although Sega Tennis on the 360 was fun as hell. They should have just spammed the Mario blueprint. Platformers, party games, racing games, cartoon sports games, a smash brothers kind of game. I never checked out any of the open world style games or 3D kind of games. I love Crash Bandicoot. That feels like what Sonic should have evolved into. A platformer with 3D elements. Should have dialed back the speed gimmick and used it only for sliding rails or doing the occasional speed loops. All that being said, I've already pre ordered the Sonic remaster coming out this month. 1,2,3, & Sonic CD with updated graphics & challenges and stuff. I'd LOVE if Mario stuff could cross over to non-Nintendo systems and do the same thing. But yes I'm well aware that's Nintendo's money maker and that will never happen as long as Nintendo has it's own consoles.
  6. Yeah if left unattended it could be super serious and never heal right. But I know there was an LA Ram that tore his pec off the bone during the playoffs but he still played during The Super Bowl this year (Eric Weddle). So it's not just a wrestling thing. The NFL allowed it too. In Cody & Seth's cases they are more than capable of working around it too. They did some gruesome stuff, but they didn't reach past what Cody could handle. No Gorilla Presses or anything. So while extremely painful, still relatively safe. Much less dangerous than working with a concussion at the very least.
  7. This will be interesting to see play out. That's certainly how they had Cody word in the promo they did from the stadium. I know Meltzer said that it was a slip of the tongue that got past production... but that's pretty hard to believe. With how micro managed all the verbal content is, you gotta think that was said for a reason. I guess we'll find out.
  8. It's my understanding that once a muscle is torn off of the bone, you can't really make it any worse. It's already at the absolute worst it can be. So it's not like he could damage it any further. He already requires surgery to reattach the muscle to the bone. At that point it becomes a pain tolerance issue. If he can get through the physical pain of it to work, then there's not a lot of harm in clearing him to work. The problem can't get any worse than it already is.
  9. G1 is definitely a consideration here, but hear me out... Before this press release came out, Tanahashi wasn't booked on Dominion. I looked at the lineup specifically for him. It feels like he is at that current John Cena level for New Japan. Where he is absolutely a legend. But maybe they just don't have any interesting ideas for him. Is it that crazy that a performer that's had some injury issues and may not be Teflon anymore might be granted a pass on this year's G1? New Japan would lose as a tournament entrant this year, but they would gain some miles back on his body if he only does like 3 or 4 AEW matches over that same time span. I am not a NJPW expert, so maybe that's just pure craziness. You guys tell me. But I don't think it sounds out of the realm of possibility that New Japan would trade Tanahashi's participation in this year's G1 for him beating an AEW guy on the joint PPV to become their champion in the main event and strengthen their name on US TV via Tanahashi getting a run as interim champion in a national promotion in the United States.
  10. I'm sorry. I didn't know this would turn into a whole thing. While I agree with you that is a thing that happens, that's not what this was. I was just musing out loud about it. I didn't know there was so much conflict behind what I was saying. I accept that that is ignorance on my part and I'm sorry for bringing it up at all. This isn't the right thread for all of this anyways. So if there's more to it that I haven't grasped please feel free to DM me. But again I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to provoke anything and this wasn't me playing the intellectually dishonest "just asking questions" card. There's no way for me to prove that, so you'll either just have to believe it or not believe it. I hope you choose to believe it, but it is what it is man.
  11. Battle royal opens the show. They've already announced that. So if Hangman were to win (which is plausible if he's in it) I would assume they say well he's not going to wrestle Finlay now and slide someone else into that one. Ya know the eliminator is more important than a one off match, wants to be at full strength. But I will go out on a limb and say they will inexplicably leave Hangman out of the battle royal. Kayfabe wise it wouldn't make a lick of sense. But real world wise they probably want to distance him from the title and move him onto whatever was already planned for him. Originally him v Okada was reported, but that was then refuted (possibly just because it spoils NJPW Dominion, could still be legit). So we'll see how it all shakes out. But my money is on Hanger not being involved in the battle royal at all.
  12. They pushed he's working David Finley, even after they announced the battle royal last night. Will he wrestle three matches?
  13. You can respect people's rights and feelings while also wanting to use proper grammar. It's not an either or thing. I support trans rights and people's choices to be binary / non-binary / whatever else comes up over time. Whatever makes someone happiest about themselves has my full support. Full stop. I have no preference to what genders a person identifies with / feels most comfortable living life as / etc. Just because I commented about wanting a better way to word it, from a grammatical standpoint, shouldn't lump me in on the same side as neo-fascists & transphopes. I know at this point that's everyone's first reaction because of troll culture. But sometimes it's an actual, honest, no ill intent intended person trying to make conversation / get an understanding.
  14. Yeah I agree with your logic here. I just can't wrap my head around how complicated they made it for it to just end up being Mox vs Tanahashi. Like if that's the match you're going with why not just say the number one contender will face the PPV challenger that's already signed on for the match? So much less complicated. And I also agree with and understand why it can't be Takeshita vs Tanahashi. But a man can dream. They will probably go the least interesting route and not even tease someone new-ish here. Danielson wins the Battle Royal. Danielson vs Moxley in a babyface we love each other but we're going to murder each other match. Which will probably produce a hell of a match. So you can't really argue it. But it's just the kind of plain story option.
  15. A little more complicated than it needs to be, but at least there's logic to it. Mox is the current AEW #1 contender (for the AEW Title). He has to beat someone to qualify. Tanahashi is the NJPW #1 contender (for the AEW Title). He has to beat Goto to qualify. To me this is the time to do something surprising. You have someone unexpected win the battle royal & beat Mox. New Japan wants to save that Mox vs Tanahashi match I would assume. So give us a surprise match we didn't expect. Give me Takeshita vs Tanahashi!
  16. I'm basing my thoughts on how I think TK's mind works. He's incredibly detail oriented. He has things planned out well in advance. I think he already has something booked out for The Elite guys. And that he won't want to scrap whatever that is for Cole to be interim champion. That's also why I don't think it'll be Mox or Danielson Jericho for that matter. He has Blood & Guts and probably the next story already mapped out for all of them. I also assume he has a Hangman story in mind as well. So based on that, I just think it has to be someone who he doesn't have a story in mind for already.
  17. Wishful thinking. The other times they've done interim titles it's just been the same design (TNT Title & ROH Women's Title). As I said in the Rampage thread to me it's pretty much a lock Tanahashi wins the interim title at the PPV tho. You make New Japan happy by giving them a big win over an AEW guy at the joint show. You make the fans happy seeing a top tier New Japan guy more often. You still get the Punk vs Tanahashi match when Punk is cleared. It's win-win-win. It's definitely a weird structure to get there tho. I figure if you were gonna run Mox vs Tanahashi... just announce that match. Why the song & dance? They may have Mox penciled in for something already and the battle royal is the way to throw in someone random without messing with the rankings too much.
  18. Just rewatched it. And I think I pinpointed the exact moment of injury. So when he dives into the crowd his left leg doesn't even go into the crowd. He's smiling. He's laughing. Shit is fine. When he goes back over the rail he lands on his left foot only, because his right leg is hungup in the rail. He kind of no sells it but you can tell waiting on the ramp something's up. And he does fiddle with it as FTR come out. I'm pretty sure him coming down awkwardly on one foot leaving the railing is what caused the problem now. Ligament or bone damage from that alone probably wouldn't require surgery. Just be annoying. Be then he jammed that same foot again on the botched springboard. Which now in retrospect was probably botched because of the foot being janky. Jamming the foot like that definitely could have broken bones or torn ligaments. Talk about a freak accident. To me it's pretty much a lock Tanahashi wins the interim title at the PPV tho.
  19. I mentioned it in The Dynamite thread but he definitely tweaked his foot on the botched springboard. Not diving in the crowd. He started limping after the botched dive. And was fiddling with his foot and rolled up his kickpad right after the pin. The had his shoe off on his foot in that post show pic with FTR drinking the beers. But I think this is more cleaver promotion and not him relinquishing the title or anything major. I think it's obvious the discourse from this board gets back to TK and he's just subverting our expectations. Or at least the vocal minority that claims 'hE's DoInG ThiS On PuRPose'.
  20. Luger held the title for five days. How crazy is it that WCW put their PPV main event out there on Nitro five days before the PPV and did a title change? Crazy unpredictable. Hogan won the title back at the PPV, but still. That's an air of unpredictability we don't get anymore. I don't remember knowing it at the time (because I don't feel like it was hyped very hard) but that was the 100th episode of Nitro. That's why they wanted a big moment to cap off the night.
  21. Really wish we could come up with a different pronoun to represent this. It just feels wrong to the grammar part of my brain to use a plural pronoun to denote a singular human being. I understand and have no issue with someone being non-binary. But the verbiage just sounds off to use they / them.
  22. The first three episodes of Season 3 are up and they're great. Love this show.
  23. Listen I'm not saying it wouldn't be a fun or entertaining story. It would be. Just that there really isn't a way of doing it that doesn't cannibalize the value of most of the guys that draw money for AEW. Like there are tiers here. I don't think Cole or Red Dragon or Keith Lee / Swerve being involved in this story would tank AEW's business too bad. But if it moves up the card to the big deals like Punk & Danielson & Mox it would absolutely have a negative effect on business. It's not just as simple to draw money as Darby pins Mox. MJF pins Punk. Jungleboy pins Danielson. It takes a lot more to elevate someone and get them to be money drawing member of the roster than just coming out on top of a story and getting a win. How many times did Roman Reigns get wins before he found his way and became an actual money drawing act? You do 100% hurt the value of the "WWE" guys you let be shit talked and treated as invading guys that the audience shouldn't like tho. So what happens if the story ends exactly as you have it laid out but AEW's PPVs don't make as much money in the next cycle? They drop off 20% because Punk is devalued. It's too late to turn back the clock at that point. It's not really a risk worth taking unless you have strong indicators BEFORE starting the angle that the "WWE" guys aren't the ones people are paying for anymore.
  24. Nope. Made it worse. So you would actively try your hardest to get the crowd to turn on the biggest money generating members of the roster? Like the end result down the line is AEW originals are the babies, and the guys that have helped almost double the PPV buys like Punk & Danielson among others are now to be reviled? If they go down that road and commit to it and the audience buys in, you're purposely tanking the value of these guys. If the storyline really works hardcore you get your audience booing these guys out of the building every time they are on tv. They stop buying their merch. They stop buying PPPVs to see these guys wrestle. The people that are tuning in to see them probably stop tuning n. You're splitting your fanbase up and making them fight against each other. It's a work brother. It's not AEW guys vs WWE guys because everyone here is an AEW guy. There's no benefit in portraying the biggest draws like Punk & Danielson & Mox & Jericho as "WWE guys" at all. You're losing money and market share and fan interest by telling them these are the guys you shouldn't like now. And to take it a step further you're encouraging people that like Mox & Punk & Danielson to go watch the other guys because that's who has the people you like. It can work on a small scale with one heel working his way through super low card dudes. Billy Gunn. Dustin. Big Show. Mark Henry. But it veers you off a cliff to the extent you're advocating for. I understand there are fans that only care about the on screen product they see. But when you factor in the business aspects of this it's financial suicide.
