  1. It's nice that they improved it but its still wrong.
  2. I'm working eight straight so that will be my excuse for not starting yet, but next Sunday, come hell or high water....
  3. I've been a bit side-tracked with other stuff so I'll push the deadline out to the 14th. I start posting stuff on 6/15 regardless of what I have to work with. So far I have reviews from driver, J.T. and odessa. Since I try to lay these things out in a certain way, my preference would be for all bonus stuff to come directly to me but I think I can make an exception for @J.T.
  4. Honestly, watching the trailer and seeing "Shang Chi" pop his collar after dispatching some bad guys took me right out of it.
  5. Assignments have been sent. Deadline for reviews is June 7th.
  6. This popped up after I re-watched the Carl Scott showcase video from the inaugural edition.
  7. I think maybe half of us fall into that group. I could be wrong though.
  8. All picks are in. I'll be sending out assignments some time later tonight.
  9. I would imagine, if you're a casual Shaw Brother's fan, that the late 60's - early 70's swordplay films are going to get a lot less love. But hey, I'm all for extolling the virtues of Cheng Pei-pei, King Hu, and Ku Feng.
  10. OK, time to make a push for picks. Execproducer * Rippa * J.T. * odessasteps * J.H. * Setsuna * Raziel * driver * * = Picks made. Eight of us in with nate undecided. Films reviewed from last two years.
  11. Yes but given the times we live in, not set in stone. I have three picks so far so I'll give it a few more days before I start pestering people. Yes but we did quite a few Ninja flicks on the first go round so you might want to refer to that. I'll probably get around to listing everything reviewed the last two years on Sunday night.
  12. I'm partial to the restaurant fight against the Axe Gang, as far as Drunken Master II goes. The Ken Lo fight is great but it follows what was by then JC formula where Jackie has to lose his mind in order to beat a superior foe and he did that better with Whang In-shik in The Young Master. Tough to pick the best ever but off the top of my head I can come up with a few favorites. The Gordon Liu-Wang Lung-wei alley fight from Martial Club, Yuen Biao and Frankie Chan tearing it up in The Prodigal Son, Michelle Yeoh using Rope-fu against sword in Magnificent Warriors, and Jackie vs Benny "The Jet" in Wheels on Meals. And honorable mention to the first of several screen smackdowns between Moon Lee and Yukari Oshima in Iron Angels. Too short to be great but just as brutal as anything from The Raid.
  13. Well, we have the minimum six that I required. Shout out to @jaedmc, @AxB, @Raziel, @nate, @driver and anyone I may have forgotten to see if anyone else who has participated in the past wants to join the party. Already have two picks. I'll make the deadline for those 5/14.
  14. It was my first proper Michelle Yeoh movie after seeing Super Cop. I was hooked for life.
  15. Thank you, Sir. I'm at work and it probably would be at least another eight hours before I'd have been able to find the time to do that. Usual rules apply. Say you're in, pick a film and pm me, wait to receive yours. I'll wait until a few more people jump in before I set a deadline for picks.
  16. If you find the time and want to toss a bonus review my way, your contributions are always appreciated.
  17. There are three of us so far. I'd probably run with as few as six.
  18. And just in case the video wasn't already indicative, Samurai films are eligible this year....except for Seven Samurai and Yojimbo. Too easy to pick and millions of words have already been written about them. Dig a little deeper.
  19. Someone asked if we're doing this so let's see if we have enough interest. I'll post the rules and link the previous threads sometime tonight.
  20. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/09/arts/television/james-hampton-dead.html RIP Caretaker.
  21. And, if I recall correctly, Leonard's lack of interest in granting a rematch directly led to his retirement.
