  1. Well, getting ready for our first show, we get to try out one of the new features in TEW IX: The Booking Team. You can have people join your booking team, adding creative energy (you need 20 of it per hour you put on, but you can spend extra to get creative finishes/angles, or to tweak gimmicks/storylines.. depending on how good they are, it's not a sure thing however that the creative stuff will be successful. Also, the booking team is a real pressure cooker for relationships.. conflicts will be magnified, but so will good vibes. We have four people on our Booking Team, the legendary Fox Mask joining the female trio, being retired wrestler Miss Mexico, QAW's Queen Amazon and stalwart road agent-ref-woman of a thousand jobs, Farrah Hesketh. We create 71 Creative Energy, so we only bank 31 a show after booking our two hours (although that will go up in a few months, as probationary periods expire We also appoint Locker Room Leaders in various roles, including head men and women's trainers. We have our roster, and I will break it down in a future post, but since no one's been assigned a perception yet.. The good news is, we have someone airing our matches.. the bad news is: It's WrestleWorld, and they can only give us a three month deal. Talk about having to hit the ground running. With running a show every two weeks, that means we have six shows to impress folks and get a new deal. But no pressure. And.. one of our wrestlers won't be able to make it, as Shooting Star Perez got stranded at the airport. Ugh. To make things worse, four of our wrestlers couldn't make the show, but that was because they were wrestling for a Mexican company that night (CILL), and they are some of better wrestlers on the roster (Electric Dreamer/Estrella Blanca on the Luchadora side, Tigre Salvaje Jr and Amazing Fire Fly on the Luchador side). I'm going to have to check my schedule for conflicts going forward.\ Our first show is pretty good for a fed our level (tiny), it comes out to a 50 (knocked down a bit because I forgot to book a steal the show match), and we gain our first points of popularity in Canadian Regions, and less than a point, but still positive in the US. Not bad!
  2. ((I can break this out to its own thread if needed, but I'm going to run a TEW IX dynasty and post about it here if folks don't mind)) Here's the state of the Wrestling world in 2022 (where the game starts) America: USPW (United States Pro Wrestling) are the dominant force in American Wrestling, although their aging main event scene means that they may soon be entering a rebuilding phase. The Supreme Wrestling Federation (SWF) and Total Championship Wrestling used to be America's Big Two, but both have endured rough periods and will require strong leadership to take them forward. The American independent scene continues to be the best in the world, boasting a wide variety of interesting companies and a deep talent pool of rising stars. The arrival of the WRESTLEWORLD streaming service means that companies like Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling (CZCW) and Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling (PSW) are now finding whole new audiences and are entering an exciting new era. Mexico: The all-conquering EILL continue to have an iron grip on the world of lucha libre, having the assembled the most star-studded and talent=packed roster in the country's rich history. CILL and EMLL may be small but they are well run, and put on entertaining shows. The recent death of OLLIE (Original Lucha Libre in Extreme) offers a cautionary tale however, and suggests that EILL's large shadow is making it very hard for anyone else to thrive in Mexico. Britain: 21st Century Wrestling dominate the British Wrestling scene and seem primed for expansion. They now have their own wrestling school in full swing, to give them access to a talent pipeline that should secure their future. Elsewhere, Scottish National Promotions and Championship Wrestling from Wigan offer very different alternatives to 21CW's mainstream product and are beginning to build small but dedicated fan bases. Japan: The traditional giants BHOTWG (Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods) and PGHW (Pride Glory Honor Wrestling) remain the top dogs, but aging rosters and lack of innovation are making them look old-school and on a downward trend, The challengers, Black Canvas Grappling, EXODUS 2010, SAISHO PRO, and WLW (returning after a yakuza funding scandal) are offering matchups between fresh star talent and are apidly gaining propularity. Is it a new age in the Land of the Rising Sun? Europe: Three companies are making in-roads, and seemingly well-run, could Europe avoid the stumbles that doomed past Euro promotions? Australia: RAW is still on top, but are really a victim of their own success, they've killed off the smaller companies that would provide training for the next generation. APW are small, but have a solid roster, and now are on WRESTLEWORLD. So, what company am I going to be taking? NONE OF THE ABOVE. My avatar, the mysterious Mr Smith, will be forming an indy in america, and form LIGHTNING CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING (LCW). My goal is to be big, eventually, but with $1,000,000 in the bank, and only moderate prestige, we're going to be raiding other companies for talent, and hope that we can carve our own niche in American Pro Wrestling. Our style is DVDVR Wrestling's favorite, Wrestling Nerd Nirvana "Designed to appeal to the 18-30 wrestling nerd demo, this is all about things that will play well to a "smart" internet audience: Good match quality, entertaining characters, hot angles, and all done with a sense of humor. Fans expect 85/15 Match to Angle for events, and TV 75/25 Matches are rated on Quality vs popularity on a floating basis between 40:60 and 70:30, depending on what gets the best rating. It's hard on the workers due to physical intensity and risk of injury from high-impact moves. Fans will accept any match type, but matches below 20 minutes will not be able to acheive world class scores. Overbooked (unless really good), Eye candy, Deathmatches and DANGEROUS matches will have a penalty. Angles based on sex-appeal will be limited. The fans expect storylines, a variety of match types, and crazy/stunt bumps can give boosts to a segment, and comedy based gimmicks can't be used by stars or major stars.
  3. FUUUUTBOOOOLL!!! Eredivise, EFL Championship, Medal Games in the Olympics. ESPN+, Peacock and Paramount+ start earning their subscription fees tomorrow the 9th
  4. The new Total Extreme Wrestling (TEW IX, they got rid of the year because it made folks think it was an annual release) is out. I may have to do a board dynasty again, this time with an american company.
  5. Just a bit of a distraction/redirect, the Wikipedia discussion at the beginning of the thread had me reminiscing... Even a decade after I stopped using it, it amuses me to think of all the stuff that went on during my time at Wikipedia, but that was a lot because A) I was entrusted with dispute resolution tools (first administrator access, and then the Arbitration Committee, which is the highest level of dispute resolution between editors on Wikipedia) and B ) I was involved in some of the craziest disputes I can remember (Scientology, Climate Change, even the Fucking Monty Hall Problem!) The thing that sticks with me the most was a case that started when I was an administrator, and it involved a corporate CEO and a financial writer going to war over articles about naked short selling (No, get your minds out of the gutter, nothing porn related, just a market tactic of questionable legality to drive down the price of a stock to try to make money). The Financial Writer was using a variety of techniques to try to control the articles (multiple accounts, using different dial up accounts and VPN's to hide this fact.. and the corporate CEO was breaking all kinds of rules to try to reveal this. It was.. stressful. I really should write a full article about it.
  6. Interesting result today at SPA, Lewis Hamilton finishes 2nd on track but gets the win after George Russell gets DQ'd for an underweight car (by 1.5 KG out of 796 KG). This might actually be a season worth watching for the fights..
  7. Really, the Windies need to get a new bat supplier. As well as a new batsman supplier. Although Ireland-Zimbabwe was interesting, as Ireland show testicular fortitude and come back from 20-odd for 5 to beat Zimbabwe by four wickets.
  8. There's other things, like Amazon put three years right fees up front (over $5 billion), and WBD tried to say a three year line of credit matched, which I don't think it does. This is TNT posturing to try to get SOMETHING out of it, neither side wants to go to court with all the dirty laundry that could be aired between the parties.
  9. Ooer. Not a good look. Sure they were missing their Euro 2024 players, but losing 4-0 to a Thai team with the players they DID have is embarrassing for Dortmund. Borussia Dortmund thrashed by Thai League club in pre-season friendly - Yahoo Sports
  10. Neeeevermind the full five.
  11. Looks like the 2nd Test might actually go the full five...
  12. Ok, one season RTG review: Started as a mid-tier (3*) recruit, and went to Northwestern, started as QB3, but won a position battle early in the season to move up to QB2, but didn't get to see the field until week 7 when I won the position battle to move up to QB1 after a horrendous game by the then-starter. We won a couple games against low-ranked teams, but we were looking at being home for the holidays, before winning our two last games, one of them being a 25-23 double OT win AT Michigan to finish 7-6. We played Kentucky in the Music City Bowl and won. I decided to enter the transfer portal as I spent most of my time running for my life as our running game was practically non-existent, so teams were lining up to charge at me. Signed with Texas A&M, and won game 1 (against UTSA) 49-28. Thoughts: Scores are not out of whack (12 minutes, accelerated clock), note the 25-23 game above (we had to drive late to tie the game at 10 in regulation, both teams scored in first OT, the difference in the 2nd OT was that they missed their two point conversion).. Running feels pretty ok (I'm a QB, so I don't control that) The default view in RTG is tight in to the QB, so you'll definitely have to hold down right trigger and look left and right to see the wideouts (you can change it in the prepay menu, but you have to do it each game) Ran into two bugs.. one that gave my player a TON of levels (skills etcetera), but that may have just been pre-order bonus stuff, and the other being the aforementioned OT game where they played the animation for handshakes and OT rules AFTER the game, but that was probably because they started with the ball. It's NCAA Football with PS5 graphics and some upgrades. It's what you want.
  13. Ireland-South Africa was a humdinger.. England-New Zealand was good, but you know the routine by now.. And the USA played. The less said about that, the better.
  14. They think Jimmy's career is all over.. it is now. (if I'm reading this Cricinfo stat right, he had more Wickets in Test VICTORIES than the previous record owner (Ian Botham) had in TOTAL). And Lords in shambles.. because it finished so early they had to offer a full day's refunds.. if the Windies could have bat for three more overs the crowd would have only received half refunds
  15. Not bad, low-average. 0.25 on a 1.00 muta scale (the reason, is that by the end, the volume of plasma is about the same, but Muta's covered their whole face, this one is limited in area covered.
  16. Missed a chance for a tagline "I'm ready for my closeup, Mr Deville"
  17. Jimmy's 2-11 over ten overs so far in his last innings And it will be his last innings, I don't see West Indies getting 171 more runs tomorrow being six down to start the day.
  18. I think ABE fans are going to be shambolic unless it's like a 4-0 Spain win. They shouldn't have made it this far, and the fans are going to be like "Oh, so disappointed but great run" unless they get boat-raced in the final (89:59 was the time of the goal?) And my choice for the Golden Boot? Ow(e)n Goal.
  19. double post: ESPN reporter had a good view of it https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/40537768 Apparently Uruguay fans and Colombia fans started a tussle near the families, and the Uruguay players realized it was near their support and rushed in.
  20. video of the fight. Sounds like Colombian fans were "having a go" at Uruguay's Wives and families. Don't know whether that's taunting or something physical.
  21. MJF-Ospreay should be a Memphis style walkabout brawl that just gets out of control and forces security to stop them (after they brawl everywhere). Mention that All-In will have security around the area to prevent the fight from leaving the ringside area.
  22. England vs Netherlands in the Semi-finals? Well, we all better hope that it doesn't go to penalties. It'll never end. (england's run of bottling late in tournies/penalties, and Netherlands HISTORIC penalty problems)
  23. Cavendish was also very ill on the first stage with heat stroke
  24. well, it's more like 5.25 edition.. Everything that came before for 5th is still valid. It's just changing a bunch of things about how some of the classes work..
  25. Summary of the NBA Offseason so far: NBA Pundits: "The Celtics didn't play anyone last season" (Philadelphia, the Knicks, etcetera all take a page out of Michael Jordan's playbook and go "We take that personally") Going to be interesting to see how it all turns out
