  1. Speaking of Bray... The Wyatt family is basically Zartan and the dreadnoks. I have been watching WWE forever and only realize this now.
  2. That scenario with Undertaker winning and going on to face Cena makes a lot of sense. If Jericho gets eliminated early then Undertaker becomes my pick to win. But if the final 2 are Undertaker and Corbin the fans may be unhappy.
  3. Jericho will be hung above the ring in a shark cage (during a title match) and then go on to compete (and possibly win) in the rumble. That's nerves of steel. What else can he do, beat the ascension on the pre-show?
  4. So it's obvious Goldberg and Brock eliminate each other in the rumble. I suspect Jericho wins, but it's hard to call. ..and will any 205ers be in the rumble? Tajiri should be a surprise entrant and Metalik should debut in the rumble. Also, it would be nice to see RVD or Tommy Dreamer as a surprise. Booker T would be the best surprise.Bobby Roode would be awesome too.
  5. Rosenberg displayed levels of masochism that would make Michael Cole proud. He was doing great and then Heyman and JBL just gutted him. It was awful.
  6. My pick is Jericho for the rumble, then Owens defeats him at Mania, keeping the title. I have been wrong before and if the past few years are an indication, then Goldberg wins the rumble. )-=
  7. Here's my pitch to Vince McMahon: The Daily Show on Comedy Central hurts the Raw overrun. The only good part of the Daily show is the first segment. That saps viewers away from the overrun Raw main event. It does. The Daily Show /@Midnight block kills the coveted overrun segment. But while Jon Stewart was untouchable, Trevor is far weaker. Now is the time! While Trevor suffers in the ratings, even though monday is his best material. Late Night with Jerry Lawler comes on right after the overrun. Instead of that mindless Christly piece of shit. Hurt Comedy Central on mondays by hiring some comedy writers and using the talent and studios you already have! strengthen the overrun segment by stopping them from changing the channel to watch Trevor. Jon Stewart/Colbert Report was a tank. Trevor/Hardwick is a fragile fishbowl. If Lawler only comes on only one night a week, and Fallon is on every weeknight, who are you going to watch? ...and on the final episode of Christly, have Christly, the cast of Modern Family, and those CSI troll clowns all get buried in cement like Paul Bearer, only for real. Late Night with Jerry Lawler saves USA from itself. Could you imagine if USA booked RAW? Brock Lesnar would be a bad-actor-cop with ten annoying kids and Seth Rollins would have a quirky yet sweet gay-married husband who interrogates prostitute murderers. Every other day I find some USA programming in the cats litter box. I put it in a bag and take it to the dumpster. If the cat eats tuna she leaves me a Christly to scoop out of the box.
  8. Eddie Kingston is too good on commentary. An awesome wrestler should not be that good because it takes away from his special aura. Its a good problem to have and Ultra Mantis Black has that problem times ten. Great promo, Good matches, Great commentary. If only TNA and ROH didn't suck so bad. Two guys with a million tons of upward mobility and no place to go. Why can't a company in Japan or Mexico or Europe take the footage library they already have, and simply have Kingston and Mantis do an American commentary track, then sell it to Flowslam or sell streams of individual shows on a website. Its simple. these companies like CMLL and Dragon Gate and DDT and a dozen others have entire libraries of great stuff they don't know how to market to America. They are so stupid. STUPUD! Kingston and Mantis doing an English dub in a Philadelphia studio would not cost much. These companies already spent tens of thousands of dollars on a catalogue of shows that are really good, but no one besides New Japan and AAA Triplemania bother to give them an English dub. If I spent tens of thousands of dollars on All Japan promoted shows [for example] then I would cheaply put an English commentary track on it, with American wrestlers as commentators. America has millions of wrestling fans that see GIFs of foreign wrestling and think it's cool, but don't bother to watch these awesome shows because it's not in their language. America is a country of content consumers who spend money. The market is there. If I spent tens of thousands of dollars assembling cardboard boxes in Japan, I would slap an English label on some and ship to America to sell more. Kingston/Mantis/a few others are PERFECT for this. They understand the product. Wouldn't you watch a medium size foreign promotion with Mantis and Kingston doing commentary? I think it would change the industry.
  9. @VictatorI agree about Bo. At this point have just have him grow a beard and be a Wyatt who is jealous of Harper and causes internal Wyatt Family strife. Bo has a good look for a hobo army goon.He had a beard but shaved it. Change his name to Dallas Wyatt and give him dirty clothes and then Bo is reborn as an actually fun character.
  10. No way this will ever happen, but I want Jerry Lawler to host a David Letterman style late night talk show at 11 pm on the WWE network after Raw. He could monologue, then have a entertainment industry guest, then a wrestler guest and then a band plays a song ans there you have a Late Night with WWE format. Booker T could be the first guest or an Andy Richtor style sidekick The entertainment stars could talk about their projects. Then seamlessly place in a WWE wrestler interview in the next segment, thus making it seem like WWE Network is a mainstream property and not a weirdo niche. Lawler as Letterman/Leno could work. They could just have some actor talk about the upcoming movie they are in, and then right afterwards AJ styles promos about Dean Ambrose. Then a rock band or pop singer sings a song. Its a proven formula. I badly want this to become a show. What do you think?
  11. Fun Fact! Bryan asked HBK to wrestle at the Hammerstein, but HBK said the ballroom is to small for him.
  12. JBL is not the best or anything but in the absence of Jerry Lawler these days I really like him. Monsoon and JR were both amazing, Lawler and Heenan as well as color commentators. Ultra Mantis Black is the best kept secret. Booker T and Dusty are pure fun. Scott Stanford is another secret gem. And Coachman sucked and Tazz was a caricature on color commentary . Heenan/Sciovane/Tenay was a drunk genius, a self loathing sociopath, and an earnest careful smark. Somehow their cobination woroed.
  13. I don't think Kenny Omega cares for ROH. He's the big thing in New Japan. why bother with ROH. Why bother to go anywhere when he is red hot there. In Highspots Developmentally Speaking with Brian Myers/Hawkins, Omega seemed to insinuate that he has no plans to go back to WWE either. Johnny Ace put him in deep south years ago and he hated it. However, it's a different WWE now and money talks, but Omega is to smart to go there. by the way,all DVDR readers need to watch the entire five episodes of Developmentally Speaking wth Brian Myers as well as the Brian Myers solo shoot. Myers and his guests, particularly Omega and Naylor, are fascinating when telling stories of the political minefield of pre-NXT developmental. FASCINATING and I don't even like Highspots shoots. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
  14. Mike Tenay and Joey styles were completely awesome at introducing an american teenage audience to international wrestling. This is not exactly on topic, but they led me to seek out international wrestling. Tenay in particular is responsible for bringing a level of respect to international wrestling that paved the way for companies like New Japan and AAA to have much more north american fans. He introduced a million fans to something new to them. Companies like those profit today because of the goodwill supplied by Tenay and Styles in the late 90's . Heenan, Schiovane, and Zbyszko put themselves in the role of the fan watching someone like La Parka for the first time. This act was all a softball pitch for Tenay to knock it out of the park by explaining the awesomeness of Lucha and also Yuji Nagata and Blitzkreig and others. The act didn't age well, but if you put yourself in the shoes of an early Nitro era WWE fan, this act was necessary to win over an audience with something different to them. Some disagree, but I feel this was all part of Eric Bischoff's genius. An Eric Bischoff show is the ultimate variety act based on what was available at the time. Paul Heyman was also a genius for the same reason. These two changed wrestling. Someone like Neville would never be in the WWE in the 90's. Also, what is WWE's new exciting idea that just debuted? The Cruiserweight division. I hope HHH wrote Bischoff a check for that idea. It all comes back to Styles and Tenay putting over guys like Malenko as a technical genius and Myysterio as a Mexican cultural icon. That is the heart of good commentary. "This is new and different because..." "This grappler is dangerous because..." WWE commentary goes straight into "These two dislike each other because" and that's the feud. You need to build up two tanks better before you send them into war against each other, not just send them into battle without a solid foundation. Tenay and Styles built a solid foundation by making the grapplers seem new and different and awesome, and only then building the feud.
  15. This post is a perfect description of ROH's major flaws. ROH television makes me hate the Young Bucks. The Bullet Club only works in Japan.
  16. I'm not much of a CM Punk fan, but he did usher in a new wave in WWE. He took ROH to new levels. I admit he rocked the wrestling world and belongs in any wrestling hall of fame. Even the biggest Punk critics must admit he was a one man army and a revolutionary.
  17. I hear Chikara is winning that award this year. They have been average to the extreme for a few years now. edit: meanwhile PWG had an amazing tournament this year that will criminally go forgotten in the awards.
  18. After five minutes of XPW television I felt like I needed to take a shower. I felt scummy for watching that. It's like watching someone step in dog poop and then checking your own shoes.
  19. Wikipedia says they never lost the belts and had them 405 days and counting. I suspect they mailed them back to the Jarrett mountainside chateau now that they are in a promotion that fans are actually aware of.
  20. Schiavone was too fake in Nitro era WCW, I suspect he didn't even like wrestling. As stated before, he was dead inside. I know many disagree but I think Steve Corino is killing ROH television. His voice is bad and his take on the events unfolding in the ring are always dumb. He would be a perfect heel manager for the Addiction or some other heels. Get him off commentary and put him ringside where he belongs. Joe Rogan from UFC always acts like he just had a testosterone injection for the first time in his life and he doesn't know how to handle it. Like today is his first time in his life that he ever had a erection and now he wants to annoyingly explain a fight. UFC could save a lot of money by replacing him with an actual chimp. Matt Striker's WWE tenure was a tale of a man who starts out as a great announcer but as the match progresses he would get lost in the depths of his own mind. First you really like him, then you question his sanity. He is very well read though, there must have been a library in the New Jersey state mental hospital.
  21. Don't worry Zakk TNA has won literally 8 years in a row, they are an unstoppable juggernaut in the worst promotion category. The only possible thing that could stop them at this point would be a Global Force Wrestling primetime cable show. So if you see Jeff Jarret buying lottery tickets, hit him with a fake guitar.
  22. Speaking of the WON, when do the WON awards come out? If I sign up now can I be a voter? Thanks to anyone who knows the answer. I want to vote for Lucha Underground for worst promotion, even though I know TNA will win.
  23. Quick question on the subject of Braun. Why can no one see that he is going to be undefeated until he heels Enzo and then gets beat by Cass at Mania? He is basically being gift packaged for Cass, but podcasters always act like they don't understand his push.
