Also, I feel like managers were a holdover from his dad's booking style, where the heel managers would stay in the territory and would be the focus of the heat, used to heat up guys coming in for short runs. Vince sort of used managers the same way, and you also saw wrestlers move from manager to manager to freshen them up (Valentine going from Hart to Valiant and back to Hart, Bundy from Hart to Heenan, Hercules from Blassie/Slick to Heenan).

I had to go back and listen. Holy fuck. The Steiners' theme is absolutely "Generic College Fight Song #8" from a royalty-free music library. Sid's theme, meanwhile, fucks, as the kids say. I read that three times before I realized this had nothing to do with The Fantastics or rats.

It's pro wrestling. You're going to have to lose matches. Jobbbing is part of the job. That's why it's called jobbing. You're supposed to lose sometime. Not just to your friends. Not just to guys you think are on your level or greater. Not just when your boss can provide a PowerPoint of what his exact plans for you are next. Fans don't think this shit is real anymore. Losing a match isn't going to hurt your career. "WWE treated me badly so I'm going to be a dick to people at my next company" is some real genius shit. Yeah, that'll show WWE.

Mike Bailey vs Penta. Over/under on taunts?

I like Bailey and think he's a good wrestler, but his style gets old quick. I feel like he needs to cut the amount of Mike Bailey Signature Spots per match in half, at least. And for the love of all that is holy, stop doing the hand-in-fist-and-bow taunt before every third move. When he won BOLA in 2023, he missed night 1 and had to do his first round match on night 2, so it meant I had to watch four Mike Bailey matches on one show, and it was repetitive and awful.

Shane is so knowledgeable that he went to the Royal Rumble a few years ago with an idea so bad they fired him on the spot. I like the idea that just being around for all those years should mean something, like osmosis can make up for bad judgment, awful ideas, and just being a doofus in general.

Counterpoint: wrestling was based on an earnestly-attempted con for so long that people who don’t like or understand it think people who like it must be stupid or mentally challenged. That’s a bad thing.

A thousand times this. Being a fan of pro wrestling still carries a stigma in 2025 because the gross carnies in charge of stewardship of the art form clung to kayfabe for decades past the point of insulting everyone’s intelligence.

I was going to get another beer by Silver Branch but all they had was a heifeweizen, which I don’t like, another IPA but it was made with mosaic hops, which I’m allergic to, and a Pilsner, which I wasn’t feeling.
