  1. After this, he should have a much easier time coming in as a red-hot babyface. I think. Maybe. Assuming I'm not over-estimating the popularity of the Marvel movies. Which one really can't in 2014.
  2. I hate to borrow from IMDB reviews, but someone else has put it better than I ever could: The Gunfighter never gets the respect it deserves on account of coming two years before High Noon. Give The Gunfighter a go. I promise you won't be sorry.
  3. There were actually people here who thought this would bomb? Come on. It's a Marvel film in 2014. They've been making epic bank out of b-list nobodies for the last few years and we're yet to reach the point of diminishing returns. There was no way this was failing. Especially by August standards. I wish Karen Gillan and Lee Pace would have gotten to make more of an impression. Otherwise, this was a whole lot of fun. Also, I can't believe I didn't notice Alexis Denisof. Again.
  4. That's what the kids tell me each time it fails to hold my attention till the end. Three tries now. Courageously, I've set my DVR to record it one more time.
  5. I haven't watched it. I just don't know if I can handle that level of real-world hopelessness, you know? I mean it just sounds so goddamn depressing. The show also has a surprising amount of humor and warmth. There's a humanity to it which makes life in this broken system worth living (for some), and which has made it a little easier for me to revisit the show over the years. Probably for the best. That nine-hour slog could be a mood-killer.
  6. So that's a thing. Has a Canadian price been announced yet?
  7. WWE's corporate site is down. And on the one day I'd actually want to use it!
  8. This implies that eventually the Network will be offered by providers other than Rogers. Still shitty news for cord cutters though.
  9. I can't remember another time when Sting went topless in TNA. He must really have felt like hot shit that night.
  10. If we're talking about the best of Sting's TNA run, his BFG matches against Joe and Angle spring to mind immediately. I also loved his run as GM. Easily the best face authority figure in recent memory. His match against Flair exceeded every expectation I had. Sure, I lowered the bar so much that they could've walked over it. But that didn't make it any less fun.
  11. Serious question: Have you not watched a lot of WWE over the past couple months? JBL can't seem to shut up about the streak. Then again, I wouldn't hold it against you if you're watching Raw on mute. Still, it wasn't a huge deal. An undercard amusement. It means nothing.
  12. The best thing about Orton-Reigns is that it keeps Reigns from standing tall at the end of Raw for a month. Reigns is good and he's over, but some hyper-sensitive fans seem determined to complain about his push activating their gag reflex. Hiding him in the upper midcard with Orton should quiet some of those complaints for a little while.
  13. I want to come down hard on this show, but they didn't make me sit through Reigns vs Kane the Uncarriable. Gotta give them points for that.
  14. "You're being a sheep, bro. Think for yourself and worship at the feet of the creative genius!"
  15. No No - he was in Frontline which was the Kurt Angle group feuding with the Main Even Mafia. It included the angle of Styles and Karen Angle getting married. There was also the period where he was paired with Ric Flair doing the "New Nature Boy" stuff So yes - he was doing stooging heel stuff for a bit Don't forget Prince AJ in the Christian Coalition. That actually happened, right? The fact that nobody else has brought it up makes me wonder.
  16. Anyone without Twitter is missing out. Russo's already blocked three of my accounts. And the night's still young.
  17. Because I couldn't find a better "leave the memories alone" TNA video. Probably should just wait another week: I hate this video because of it's music and revisionist history. As if things weren't bad before Hogan came in. Better yet, Hogan's tenure in the company coincided with some of TNA's best shit. The Guns finally won the tag belts and had some of their best matches against the Bucks and Beer Money. Austin Aries came back and rocked the house. They gave us that awesome Storm-Roode feud and made both look like huge top guys immediately after their tag run, something you rarely see in mainstream wrestling. Bully's singles run has been awesome; I don't know why he's presented as a negative in that video. The way they shoot backstage segments now is a huge improvement and I wish WWE would rip it off. I even dug Sting's matches with Flair and Hogan. It wasn't all wine and roses pre-Hogan, and everything didn't go to shit when he came in. I remember people liking some AJ-Angle matches around the time Hogan came in. I didn't like them. But people seemed to. Sure, we got the Band, Bubba the Love Sponge, the Nasty Boys, and Val Venis dumped on us all at once, Gut Check, Aces & Eights, Immortal, AJ as Flair, and whatever they did with OJ. But there were always bright spots. I know, I know: Defending TNA makes me a monster. Sorry about that. Unfortunately dumping on TNA is trendy and management is incompetent. They're damaged goods. But there were plenty of good times for me, and I'll cherish them. If this really is the end, I'm already looking forward to 2018's WWE-produced TNA One Night Stand. Hopefully it falls during the three weeks Christian isn't injured that year.
  18. So, who said Bryan wouldn't be "believable" as champion?
  19. I know it's easy to shit on the direction TNA took in these couple shows, because fuck TNA, amirite? But if their goal is to get as many eyes back on the product ASAP, then they really made some smart decisions here. Sure, the six-sided ring is death for the workers. But the people want it. Sure, ECW is dated. But their reunion PPV drew well for TNA a short four years ago. And sure, the Hardys are also dated. But if we're going for nostalgia to rope people back in, might as well go full bore (or GORE). Dropping all these bombs at once in front of a hot New York crowd in a venue that looks decent on TV gave the product a shot of much-needed adrenaline. Glass half-full for me. If I wanted to take a more cynical view about the direction of the last couple shows, I could see it as Bully using his position of power to get his friends some national TV exposure to help drive up their booking prices. But I prefer not to dwell on that nutty idea.
  20. if you think that's something, just wait for next week's Ross Report. For the first time in decades, you'll get to hear JR interview Sting ramble on like the bitter old fuck he is while Sting occasionally chimes in! Has JR done his research, or will he be exposed like he was in part one of the Kurt Angle interview episode? Find out next Tuesday on PodcastBahGawdOne!
  21. Does this involve time travel? I hope this involves time travel.
  22. Sure. But with Hollywood beating down his door, that problem is obviously going to fix itself. At his advanced age, Sting's gotta use his limited energy somewhere he can make a real difference.
