  1. I seem to recall according to the REO behind the music episode they could really tie one on. Regarding that Maki gif. I really love much Japanese wrestling is based around nonverbal stuff, like the Naito/Yano G1 match from a couple of years ago Much preferable to the twenty minute raw opening diatribes
  2. Lance comments on Paul Orndorff at the beginning of this
  3. Lance talking about Darby and Eddie Kingston similar to things we've talked about that we've had
  4. I felt this made WWF look dated, especially when Shawn would come out wearing feathered earrings felt like posion video in 95. I hope AEW does a Saturday show and brings back the hydraulic doors
  5. I think you have to remember just how Popular those Mortal Kombat video games where at the time... I don't think the angle got killed as much as ran into the NWO
  6. Those WCW sets always lead to DDP fighting someone in a graveyard or on the stage coach. Fun Stuff For me I've always loved the old MSG set up where it looked like the wresters where coming directly through the fans like Sid with the fist bumps Also the set up for Wrestlmania 13 with Austin literally having glass shatter. I guess I like the idea of an isle more than a ramp
  7. I imagine a wrestler named Manu would have been very popular with a certain segment of the board
  8. It is interesting to think if the 80's were booked like today with the "drop the title to the heel so the Champ can win it back" formula (or if 80's WWF was books more similar to Flair in the NWA at the same period) how many guys would have had short runs, Piper, Orndorff probably maybe Bundy or Earthquake
  9. I wonder if Christian asked to work his first matches against guys he's familiar with so he can get his feet wet before moving on to working with younger talent.
  10. it seems that he felt good that Shawn came to him for idea's but doesn't comment on the actual outcome of the match
  11. You could say this about the mens side of thing too. Have Dustin/Billy Gunn working with the Varsity Blondes or Bear Country every week instead of squash matches. I think that would pay off in dividends. Someone like Jade isn't going to improve by doing 3 minute squash matches everyweek unless you want her to be the next Sid. It would be great if she could work ten to fifteen minute matches agains Mickey James or Cheerleader Melissa at house shows. As for announcers I think lack of quality PBP men is a product of the death of the territories. Like imagine if the first ten years of Mark Henry career as a wrestler had happened not on national television and then showed up as Hall of Pain Mark. Same thing with announcers no where for people to develop and Vince just seems to want "tv" people on his product
  12. Foley had classic matches against Funk, Vader, Sting, HBK, Austin, Rock, HHH, Taker, and Orton don't know how anyone can say he wasn't great in ring. And I feel every big Rock match delivered Haven't seen a ton of Lawler outside of WWF but good shout. Clearly a wrestling genius
  13. Sometimes I think about my super-short list of guys who where great in every category ; in ring, promo, character/gimmick/look , charisma/audience connection. It's Eddie, Foley, Flair, Savage, Austin, Rock, probably Terry should be on their as well as well as Dusty
  14. this could go in the "wrestling tropes" thread but I'm sick of overly long entrances. Unless its WrestleMania not everyone needs an overly long elaborate entrance. Another area where wrestling in general could be helped by dialing back
  15. don't forget peeling his potatoes
  16. American Made Cody Rhodes is The Master of Strapitude!!!! Also according to JR Jericho put the Pinnacle together...
  17. I just think about how pre-attitude era WWF was energized by signing younger WCW talent like Austin, Foley, HHH and Dustin. I agree that their is no Hogan to WCW level signing out there
  18. Hypothetically if all these releases are to lower costs and move WWE towards more of a "content provider" for NBC/Universal/Peacock do you think we could see a shift in the wrestling landscape where WWE becomes less of "The World Wide Leader" now that MLW, AEW and Impact all have tv deals? especially if some of the WWE cast offs are able to energize those brands?
