For Great Justice replied to John from Cincinnati's topic in ALL ELITE WRESTLING
Feels like this is the part of MJF’s arc where the character would normally enter the DDP bingo winnings-esk fall from grace period, but I’d rather just skip that whole chapter and keep him on top. Have him screw Wardlow out of his title shot in two weeks by contractual means and then he wins the TNT title from Sammy (in SA…oh man, the heat). Maybe by debuting a new monster bodyguard (Brian Cage?) that would then give Wardlow something to sink his teeth into for his first babyface fued. Still have him learn something from the loss, because that’s important, but in this case the thing the character learned was “I had a shitty bodyguard this whole time.” Because he’s a heel. -
Maybe Vader’s son inducts him, but it really should be Sting. If Jericho can go in Austin’s pod then they can do this.

Eddie Kingston reminds me of Mick Foley so much, in that Foley was a tippy toppy guy from 1998 to 2001 yet he was so good at presenting himself as an underdog that you didn’t view him as a top guy and you wanted him to break through. Eddie Kingston has main evented a PPV, had a show closing run in to another PPV, faced Punk and Jericho on PPV and had a tag run with the second or third biggest star in the company. He’s so good at being like the 5th highest guy in the pecking order yet believably presenting himself like he’s the 15th. Just an awesome talent.- 425 replies

I actually thought MJF did a good job doing his arm wavey delayed flat back onto the tacks after the GTS to cement that he was done. Popped the crowd too. -

Shit I don’t know who I want to tear it up with Mox/Danielson/Regal (The Red Dust Trio?) first. Where do you even start with this tag division. There’s like a year’s worth of bangers in there. Whoever gets the win over those two in a year or whatever (Top Flight?) is as made as you can get. I also need Max Caster getting the shit slapped out of him mid-rap by Regal ASAP -

Last thought for the night: for all the grief we give AEW’s camera work at times, they absolutely nailed the angle for the Wardlow turn. Between that and both Wardlow and Punk slowing down just enough to let it sink in, that was expertly done. -

Mox and Dragon with Regal managing is one of those things that’s just so perfect and unfair to the rest of the AEW roster. I mean, it’s over. Jericho/Kingston was a perfect match. This Sting run at 62 is Sting’s second best run ever after 91/92, right? -

I got a feeling its Hobbs or Starks in the ladder match. Either would have a banger with Sammy in a few weeks. The roster is so deep that there’s, what, 12 or 13 matches on this show, many of them multiman, yet FTR, Lance Archer (who just main evented a TV), Miro, Men of the Year, Ruby Soho, Deeb, Shida aren’t on it. -
I thought it was also interesting that the Bearcat name was not intentionally a homage or nod to Bearcat Wright at all, and WWE specifically told Lee not to mention Wright. The whole thing is weird as hell.

The atomic drop and Greco Roman knuckle lock are sorely missed. -
Shida/Deeb in whatever gimmick they decide to blow this thing off with (lion’s den FTW) can main event a Dynamite this month and will be lit

Another killer show. The opener my goodness. Andrade might be my favorite guy right now, full stop.

Damn now I want AEW from Club La Vela with Brandon Cutler stooging into the pool

It will be interesting to see the financial details (Sinclair is public, so this should come out at/before their next earnings call). Surely Sinclair gave WWE an opportunity to beat Tony’s bid - and with so much footage of their current stars involved, I have to think Tony paid a steep multiplier to keep it away from Vince.
-
They should run an angle where a babyface tries and tries, for weeks, to hit their finisher on a dastardly heel but keeps coming up short. Said babyface then pays TV’s Danhausen to curse the heel, ensuring the successful finish immediately afterward. The curse is in kayfabe the most deadly move in AEW. Danhausen the support spec buffing your DEX to 100 or whatever.

Oh my God you’re right, Cody booking his own major promotion pocket universe, pointing at dudes, breaking the throne or whatever is Cody as shit. Trips grew up watching JCP though, thus the NXT we got those first few years he ran it. Cody grew up in the early aughts WWE system. Oh shit what are Mark Jindrak, The Bashams and Rene Dupree up to.

When he first started mentioning CD, I thought he was going to say that Daniels would be the showrunner for ROH as a nice promotion from talent relations. Totally agree with you - that needs to be delegated to somebody that isn’t TK.
-
Agreed. Now we know the answer to the question “how is AEW going to give ring time to developing talent when they don’t run house shows.” This will be good

“yes, the contract DOES read ‘Khan’”…

Here’s to Miro showing up and wrecking Hangman’s shit after the main event to close the show
