  1. I see Rotten Tomatoes as a good basic way to sort of see where critics generally fell on a certain film's release. However, I think part of the problem is that studios are quick to adopt the certified fresh label as some sort of badge of honor for the film.
  2. I don't get the point behind obsessing over reviews and Rotten Tomatoes. If it's a movie you want to see them go see it and if YOU like then why give a shit about what some other reviewer thinks?
  3. Critics Consensus already in on Rotten Tomatoes: Snowflakes:
  4. Superman Returns got better reviews than Man of Steel and is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics generally liked Superman Returns.
  5. Does it matter at the end of the day how much better the Ultimate Cut was received? The Ultimate Cut was not the cut they released in theaters. That's not the version people will be going into Justice League with their lasting impressions of. There's no Rotten Tomatoes score for the Ultimate Cut. Ultimate Cut wasn't some magical do-over or mulligan that repairs all the damage Batman v Superman did to the DCEU. Also, Suicide Squad just dropped 67 percent this weekend, comparable to Batman v Superman's 69 percent drop. It's really not good for them considering the costs.
  6. God bless Warner Bros for single-handedly trying to once again kill the comic book movie. And lol at the butt-hurt nerds starting a petition to get Rotten Tomatoes shut down due to the negative reviews. Good god, get a grip. What I'm finding these days is that the more trailers there are and the more stuff they give away all leads up to a mediocre film.
  7. DC Extended Universe on Rotten Tomatoes: Man of Steel (2013) 55% rotten Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) 27% rotten Suicide Squad (2016) 35% rotten. Dammit.
  8. Since it was brought up, it might be worth noting that the Rotten Tomatoes audience score has dropped to 74%. Audience scores of other current, critically panned movies: London has Fallen: 61% Greek Wedding 2: 66% Miracles from Heaven: 84%
  9. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is 33% rotten on Rotten Tomatoes. I didn't expect the film to score as low as. Poor DCEU. Guns and killing people? Really?
  10. Did you read the Wired piece. I think they nailed Lex imo. I don't think the script is going to be an issue. Obviously the fight scenes will be at bare minimum perfectly acceptable. I just re-watched a lot of 'blockbuster' type films over the past couple of weeks and everything is robots smashing into other robots or vehicles and buildings falling down. That will of course be happening here but I think Snyder does it better than most. Anyone looking for a Batman v. Superman movie where the dialogue is strong and well acted and mixed with crazy fight scenes involving the first on-screen appearance of the trinity will be more than happy. Anyone looking for callbacks to the Donner era will be disappointed and I'm okay with that. They can go watch Superman from the 70s, it's right there. It didn't go anywhere. I'm predicting a Rotten Tomatoes score of 59%. There will be your usual Snyder haters. There will be your usual nitpickers (who hold WB to a higher standard than any other 'big movie franchise'). There will be your usual Donner era supporters screaming this isn't Superman when that Superman went out the window 30+ years ago. It's going to read a lot like Man of Steel backlash though this cast is superior and Terrio is a better writer than Goyer.
  11. The critics loved Superman Returns and were lukewarm on Man of Steel while the fan reaction at least on Rotten Tomatoes is the opposite. I don't know. I think the issue is that there are so many iterations now if someone isn't seeing their Superman on screen then he must be shit.. I'm wondering how much Batman v. Superman will make at the box office. Furious 7 is about to do $1.3 billion. Is that a possibility for this? I mean I love the Fast franchise and even I don't know how the fuck it's doing that..
  12. I'm not sure you can say Superman was doing what he is told. His earth Dad wanted him to hide his powers because he didn't think the world was ready to see that shit. Despite this, Superman is seen saving people, the scene with the oil tanker and shit.. he saved the bus full of kids when he was younger. Basically he is doing what he thinks is right the entire time. I never got the criticism that he wasn't "saving people".. that's exactly what he was doing throughout most of the movie. Also, about taking the fight out of the city near the end. It's his first fight against a dude in Zod who is a warrior and he's also dealing with other Kryptonians. This wasn't a situation like Avengers where there is a team and one guy can do this and one guy can take on this task... Plus, I mean Daredevil confirms that hundreds died in the 'Battle of New York' so even they didn't do a great job of saving humanity. I'm pretty sure Superman's famous fight with Doomsday takes place right in the middle of Metropolis. Sometimes you just gottta fight dudes. Back to Batman v. Superman. You can see from the teaser that there is a debate going on. There's a statue of Superman and if you look closely it is a monument for those who died in that attack from Zod and co. People are worshipping Superman and love him but there are others questioning his place in the world. They are questioning the property damage and everything that happened, his powers, etc. That's where Lex will come in to play as I expect he will be responsible for rebuilding a lot of the city. Batman is a grizzled vet and he's obviously one of the people who thinks Superman isn't what the world needs. It looks like a lot of it will be taken straight from The Dark Knight Returns but we'll see. I don't know why some people want all of their comic book movies to have comic relief and banter going back and forth between the heroes. The one issue with Avengers is that Joss wrote Thor exactly how he wrote Cap exactly how he wrote Tony Stark. Every character was trying to get their jokes in. It was fun but it didn't do much to differentiate the team. Snyder has his critics. He's like the Triple H of directing. Some will hate him no matter what he does. Even if this turns out to be a great movie I don't expect to see a Rotten Tomatoes score above 70% Most people thought The Dark Knight Rises was Nolan's worst film and I'll admit it has its issues. I liked a lot of it but it has some obvious flaws. Even so, if you go over to Rotten Tomatoes it's I believe at like 88%. Some directors can do no wrong. I like that Chris Terrio wrote the screenplay. I'm sure Goyer will still have his stuff in there but with Terrio.. I think we can expect a more intelligent script.
