  1. Yes, Gary. Alabama has NEVER busted a coverage before. Gimme a break, dude. The game is dramatic enough without making stuff up.
  2. Argh. OSU/Mich is tied at 35. Hopefully they'll resolve this before the Iron Bowl kicks off.
  3. Duke is going to the ACC title game! To be killed by Florida State!
  4. Well, HaHa is out for warm ups, so there's one crisis averted. To win this, I think Auburn needs to get big chunks of yards and maybe scores on returns, and for the Bama backs to have another one of their fumble games. If they get some of that to go there way, they have a great chance. If not, Bama wins by some amount of points.
  5. Heavy chatter on the Internet that HaHa Clinton-Dix is out for the Iron Bowl today. Starting center Ryan Kelly is a game time decision. Would be a huge boost for Auburn's upset hopes if either of those guys don't play.
  6. I think people love Emma Stone more than they really love Emma Stone in ASM. It's an adequate performance that mainly succeeds because she is not Kirsten Dunst playing Mary Jane.
  7. JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. A performance so perfect the new franchise won't even dare use the character.
  8. The ASM franchise is fascinating to me. They already have TWO MORE of these things in the pipeline after this one. And yet..did anybody really love the first movie? I mean, beyond teenyboppers who think Andrew Garfield is dreamy. Were there any great lines that you hear people quoting to this day? Any unforgettable scenes that etched themselves into people's minds and became pop culture touchstones (like the upside down kiss in the first Raimi movie)? Any performances that were so good that when they inevitably reboot this franchise yet again in 20 years, someone might credibly remark, "Boy, Actor X is going to have a tough time filling Dennis Leary's shoes as Captain Stacy," or "No one can top Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors"? Yes, it made a lot of money, but did anybody see that movie and think, "I need THREE MORE of these movies, and quick." AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is almost AVATAR-esque in that it made a bunch of money, but is nobody's favorite movie.
  9. You can go ahead and mark this down: If this legal situation doesn't resolve itself in Winston's favor in the next week, and AJ McCarron wins out, McCarron will win it. Of course, everyone will immediately claim he got it as a lifetime achievement award and wasn't the best player in college football this year (and I will completely agree with them), but he will sorta be the last man standing among the big name contenders. I think Lynch and the back from Boston College (who is so obscure that, even being the CFB fanatic I am, I couldn't recall his name off the top of my head to write this post) are starting from too far back to really have a shot at it, though one might score an invite. Manziel was my pick all season, up until last week. He was actually having a better season than last year, but I felt like he was being unjustly penalized because his team was actually worse (and also probably a bit justly penalized for his autograph scandal). But then he had an awful game @LSU, and I don't feel as strongly in his favor as I did. And I know if I'm not as high on him, then all the people who were looking for an excuse not to vote for him certainly have it now.
  10. Anyone championing this Carr kid for the Heisman doesn't deserve to have a vote. Bunch of STATS marks. Not that he doesn't have talent, but he's a total robot system quarterback. Obviously Fresno's defense has sucked all day, but he just pissed away the 2nd half on offense, throwing those 2-yard crossing routes because that's what he's programmed to do.
  11. Of course it started to suck as soon as I started watching. On one hand: Yay, no wasting a BCS spot on Fresno. On the other hand: OH NO NOT NORTHERN ILLINOIS AGAIN.
  12. Based on what little I can discern from that poster, it looks like they're going with transforming Norman into a goblin-ish humanoid creature.
  13. Fresno and San Jose are in a 42-41 shootout...at halftime.
  14. Probably not. Mizzou is almost 2 full tenths of a point behind Ohio State right now. That's probably too much to overcome in two weeks. If South Carolina goes out strong with a win over Clemson tomorrow, that will help a lot. But I don't see it.
  15. I think you'll be hearing word of Bo Pelini's canning soon. Ended the regular season on a bad loss to Iowa and sounded like a man who knew he was making his last stand in the post-game presser.
  16. One of my favorite things about having a birthday in late October is being able to save giftcards for a month and then fucking unloading on Black Friday deals to get even more out of them. Today I got... Amazon's PSVita Holiday bundle for $175 (listed as $260 value) A year of PSN for $30 ($50) Tomb Raider for $15 ($30) Dishonored for $8 ($30) $370 worth of stuff for $228, of which $0 came out of my pocket. And I still have about another $20 to play with. All without leaving the comfort of my bed on this abnormally cold south Alabama morning. KING ME.
  17. I got the disc version for Christmas last year, so no. Unless you're just a really big fan of the 400 Days expansion.
  18. You know I'm up for it. And in the future I will try to avoid picking books that begin with harrowing scenes of gruesome child birth.
  19. Well, yeah, the backup played well when Kelly was out a few games earlier in the year, but none of those games were in the sort of raucous hostile environment he's going to be facing in Jordan-Hare on Saturday. That place is going to shake to pieces.
  20. A proper quit is just like, "Fuck it, I am DONE with this shit," and then never wasting another second of your life on it. Whether the result of poor game design or your own incompetence, it is a decision that can be respected. But you apparently quit, then ran to YouTube so you could, you know, see what happens without having to earn it. Like a bitch. Hence: bitchquitting.
  21. ^^^technical term for that is "bitchquitting." Exactly how far in did you make it before bitchquitting?
  22. Alabama's starting center is out for the year with a knee injury. That's a pretty big development heading into a huge away game.
  23. ^^^mad because sucked at playing Last of Us
  24. Well, it's important to keep in mind he's talking specifically about superhero comics, not comics as an art form in its entirety. I think it's a tough subject for him, because he intended Watchmen to be a shovelful of dirt on the coffin of superheroes, but in the end, it actually gave superheroes a second life, as just about everything but the POINT was co-opted and appropriated into the mainstream under the auspice of "maturity," ultimately leading to the situation he describes in that interview.
